Hi guys, I'm currently playing an assassin in hopes of become a NL that can fight Horntail. After reading many HP washing guides in forums, what I have gathered was that I need at least 5.6k hp (with HB) and 7.6k hp (w/o HB) to survive HT, and i can achieve these numbers without base int but with good int gear. However, many players in the game have told me that it is not possible to survive HT with these figures because HT does a 12k magic damage. 1)So which is which? 2)Also, given my stats, is it still possible to reach the HT survivable HP (w/o HB)? And if yes, what should i do? 3)And I should do the actual washing (+hp/-mp/+dmg stat) only when I hit lvl 70 right? (Because 3rd job hp gain from fresh ap is more than 2nd and 1st??? - I'm not sure about this fact) 4)And is there a difference to start the washing at say lvl8x rather than lvl 7x? Will there be more hp gain from each fresh (lvl-up AP) AP as compared to the 2 different levels? My character stats: lvl53 Assassin HP: 1770 MP: 1639 Base Int: 44 Int Eqs: 136 Total Int: 180 (44+136) Thank you hp-washing experts!! Really appreciate it!
1) 12k magic damage is a lie. 12k is the touch damage from head A i believe. However, if u have <9k HP, u will have to concentrate on dodging the wing's touch damage (9k-ish). 4) No, the HP gain per point will still be the same. In fact, it will cost more as u will have to add more base INT to hit your goal. Furthermore, u might even have to boss with base INT. (and it sucks)
1) its 12k 2) i dont think u can make it without hb 3) pple out thr with 12khp or more are doing mp washing right now, i did my hp washing wrongly with total int 360.. and then ap reset to -mp+hp, i reached 11k at lv150, if i did +hp when i level and -mp+stat, would be around 13k 4) u should try mp washing.. it gives more washes, but it is base on ur total int when u +mp, example: 150int gives u more mp compares to 50 int
The HP value I've heard for years on this server for HT is 9k HP. Don't know where 12k is coming from, but it's not accurate. 7.6k is enough to survive, but it's not particularly comfortable. (Notice: 5.6k gets you to 9k with HB)
The highest non-touch damage that Horntail should do is 9k - touch damages may vary. Horntail heads do in the neighborhood of mid 14k (preheads, head A, head C), Horntail's legs do in the mid 10ks, Horntail's Head B does 22k+ and Horntail's Tails are not survivable without a damage mitigation skill. 12k is an interesting number for a couple of reasons - it makes you safe from Kacchuu Musha and Castellan first body without HB and allows you to fight Castellan Toad with HB. Specifically with relation to Horntail, if you are washed to 12k HP, the 9k number that you need to participate at Horntail is how much HP you would have when using one Ginger Ale after being hit by a 1/1 - with less than 12k HP, you'll require Power Elixirs so as to be able to use one potion after a 1/1 and guarantee survival after some specific following Horntail hits. That may or may not matter to you. More HP is always easier in this game. As for will you make it there - my rough calculation tells me that if you keep using your INT gear and base INT at every level from now until 160, you'll be just shy of the 9k mark clean, sitting at around 8.8k or so. You'll be fine in the long run, that'd be about 170 by just leveling up. You may want to consider adding a bit more base INT/improving INT gear, but you won't strictly need to in order to attend Horntail under current situations. Also, for what it's worth - Horntail's 9k HP requirement resulted from an attack up buff that Horntail was supposed to have on old source that wasn't functioning correctly - old source's HP requirement was actually something like 7.8k. I would fully expect this to be fixed if/when Horntail is ever re-released.
