Time for a farewell that not many would've expected, especially not in this way.

It is time for me to be honest with everyone on Royals, including myself, and thus I will tell you a story not many people know of.
Along with this story I will also be saying farewell to everyone I've met here, and I will apologize for what I've done that has led up to this moment.

Let's begin with what I've done wrong that I feel utterly disgusted about, and I feel like I should share with you:
For those of you who have known me for a long time, have also known I've been poor af on Royals pretty much at all times.
In recent times that changed and at first people thought I was just being super lucky with my scrolling, but they didn't know what was really happening.
Despite having been able to get quite some extra meso from selling old horntail books, old equips and gachapon loot, my main funding came from a flaw in game design that I have abused.
When I left Staff in early August, all of my GM's inventory and stats were wiped out and I was ready to move on to do other stuff.
However a little while after Fredrick was fixed again, I logged in on my ex GM character to test an innocent skill bug (whether Echo would work when below lvl 200, which it doesn't), leveled it to 7 and went to the FM after leaving Maple Island. After arriving in the FM, I clicked on the NPCs randomly and that's where my mistake started. I clicked on Fredrick and it turned out that Fredrick was still holding items from back when I was a GM in old source. I'm not going into detail as to what he was exactly holding, but it's safe to say that in the current market price it would be around 20b worth of stuff. What I should've done, and what I truthfully regret now, is contacting a GM and handing them the items I had found here. But I didn't do this, and thus I abused this bug which gave me a heavy financial advantage over other players. With this extra funding I had finished a warrior overall, made a glove and made a few capes. After I sold some of my newly scrolled items, my scrolling adventure became more self sustaining which is how I managed to end up being able to make a 20 attack cape and buy a shoe. Looking back at it, it still took quite a bit of luck to turn 20b extra funding into this much value worth of gear, but it doesn't matter because in the end it was all illegitimate (and now gone, great item sink). Since I was gaining such big items at such a fast pace, it is only natural that people become suspicious of you, and one of my close friends was there to point this out to me. That night I wondered if I should try to lie to my friend, or whether I should just come clean about what I had done, and I have chosen the latter. I told him all the details and after that I handed myself in to Tim.

This is where a next chapter started, and I am here to finish writing it now.
When I told Tim about what I had done, I put him in a tough spot as he would have to ban one of his closest friends.
He took my story and shared it with the other Admins, and they all realised they didn't want to permanently ban their friend.
It went as far as them considering to be lenient with me and giving me a temporary ban instead (while taking my items away of course), and at first I thought this would be a blessing as it would mean I could continue to play with my friends and see my guild and alliance grow.
I realise now that the burden I would have to carry with me every day, is not worth living a lie for and that is why I am making this post today.
Today I will part ways with Mapleroyals and it's community, permanently.

The mistake I've made is really really bad and goes against everything I've battled for in my time as a Staff member here, and I'm truly sorry for this.
I hope most of you can understand that I've never had ill intentions towards the server, that I've enjoyed working hard on making Royals a better place for everyone, and that I truly love all the friends I've made here.
It's just sad that I turned out to be an idiot that caved and greeded when my irl situation became a complete mess, and because of that I now have to pay the price of never being able to return here.
I'm truly sorry for those who have looked up to me, for those who believed in me and for those who trusted me, as today I have to tell you I fucked up and I fucked up hard.
It doesn't change who I am as a person and what I believe in, but it does change how clean my reputation has been and how people will think of me.
Anyway, I would like to thank everyone who has been there for me over the past 3 years, and I wish you all the best.
You've all been great, I just wish I could say the same about myself right now.

It's only been a short time since I got to know you through our alliance so it's sad to see you go as soon as it started. I think that the fact you realized you messed up, then admitted your mistake, and are ready to take responsibility before you were caught speak volumes about you as a person.

Just want you to know that I think it took great courage to admit where you messed up and own up to it. If anything my opinion of you is higher than ever Dimi. We all make mistakes, we're only human afterall. Best of luck in life, take care buddy.

Btw, IMO, despite Dimitri`s contribution to the server, the staff shouldnt even consider a temp ban.

 

Unfortunately we were never close, but admitting your mistake is a class act. You are one of the few who would even admit to your mistakes which tells me and the rest of us who you are - someone who can own up to their own mistake. Seeing how many other players and GMs being overwhelmed by greed, most of them tells lies just to attempt to cover up their arses. Some may see you as what you have done, but I see you as what you admitted to. You are a good man with a good heart despite your wrongdoing; don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise either! Here what I thoughts with your post...You should just quit this server quietly instead posting this thread which now making admins in a awkward situation, how could other admins deal with other players when other players hold this thread as a evidence that admins is on favor of ex staff? if you could see now, ppl is using your thread to against their/his ban appeal.....

I never really met you but I had huge respect for you so it’s a big disappointment hearing this. However, admitting your mistake here, which you didn’t have to do, knowing most people would judge you is something I appreciate.

On another note, to be honest it’s worrysome the Staff considered a “temp ban” just because it was you, a friend and former GM. Definitely the image of the staff is very weakened with the recent events and should do something to revert this.

When I posted in your thread I simply stated that I disagreed with you lying about how much you had abused for. Cheating in a videogame happens a lot, especially to anyone who feels competitive but doesn't reach the level at which he or she wants to be at, but that's easily forgiveable if you're honest about it. I mean sure you would still receive your punishment as that is to be expected, but people would still have respect for you just because you take responsibility and be honest about what you've done. Had you straight up told the community that you spawned 29402 p-slimes instead of saying "a few", and had you talked it out with the admins instead of running away, I think I and many others would've had way more kind words for you. I still respect you for the amount of effort you've put into the server and helping the players, but I don't respect the lying aspect of you. And thus despite both of us having cheated on royals, at least when people got suspicious of me I had the guts to just straight up admit what I did wrong and tell them exactly how much value I abused for. We're still dirty cheaters there's no denying that, but there are differences between you and I. But like I said in your thread, good luck in life wherever you may go.

My GM twin, you have been amazing through the course of your play time here. You never fail to make me laugh and your continuous fight towards improving the server is commendable. It's really sad to see you go this way but I really want to thank you for choosing this way out. I think this is much healthier for you, and it would've been very difficult for you to live with this lie. Also I must agree that the fact that there was a potential possibility of a temp ban is unacceptable.

I know you said goodbye to the community but I hope you'll still stick around in discord. We all still respect you and ur raccoon ways.

not only you greediness when you exploit the bug which damaged the server economy, and now your 'self conscious' is putting Tim and other admins is a awkward situation, which i could foreseen the most dedicated admin - Tim may pull off from his admin title due to this post.

 

I said that I spawned a few for those that were effected by the scammer & then my bad intentions happened later on.

I literally did the same thing as you, made a mistake (or 29,000 of them) & then made a post, we are the exact same but whatever helps you sleep at night buddy.

Also before it gets deleted;

 

Just because you chose to fall on your own sword doesn't mean that if you wanted to play and have this be your little secret, the Staff would let you off by simply taking your items. Whether you play or not is irrelevant at this point, the precedent has been set, that the staff, in your own words; "were lenient with you and gave you a temporary ban instead" simply because you are an Ex-GM and a friend. THAT is what isn't okay about this situation.

 

Dimitri, I haven't known you for a long time but I have played long enough to know about your contributions to the server (i.e. warping my stuck ass outta APQ map). But from what I've seen and what I've experienced firsthand, you are very respectable and I think that this post does nothing but reinforce your fine character. Contrarily, I think that even considering a temporary ban was a huge mistake on the staff's part. However, I do thank you for being honest and choosing to take the high road instead because it's definitely not easy to in a situation like this. I also hope that you keep in contact with the friends you've made. Getting banned in game doesn't mean you're banned from our lives!

Why is this not OK? They are the people who have the sole decision and it is at their discretion. If they feel he has put in his time and deserves a second chance (and also decide that some other people DO NOT deserve a second chance), that is completely their choice.

Don't be salty just because you got banned and because you wish your offender had gotten a second chance too.
