This is a continuation of the thread my boyfriend, Pelekua808 (IGN: Prea) started but it was closed yesterday.

At this point I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed about this whole situation, especially since there’s nothing I can really do at this point and I feel helpless but I just wanted to share my side of everything and my thoughts.

    1) First off, I understand that Account Sharing is not allowed. I did NOT account share with my boyfriends little brother. I always allowed his little brother to use my computer (NOT my MS account) because he uses the Final Cut Pro program on my MAC to edit his videos (I use virtualbox to play mapleroyals).

    2) He lied to my boyfriend that I allowed him to go on my MS account (which my boyfriend should’ve known better that I wouldn’t have - like seriously?). So his confession to my boyfriend that I allowed him to go on my account was NOT the truth. Like I mentioned before, I only gave him permission to go on my computer, not to play on my account. My boyfriend and I both confronted him about the situation again when he found out that his brother was still lying about what happened. He finally admitted that since I leave my MS client running on my computer when we're at work or out, he would play on my account and try to level up his account because I had max holy symbol. Then he figured out that my MS account login is the same as my computer login(never thought anything of it when I decided to use the same login as my computer), so he would play on my account from his own computer when he knew I wasn’t home to log-in.

    3) I actually have not been playing mapleroyals as often so even though he was using my account, I honestly had no clue he was even using my account! When I would log back in, it was in areas that I would normally go to and it didn't seem like I was missing any items/mesos.

    4) I don’t even know how to prove this is the truth when I wasn’t even aware that this all of this was even happening until yesterday. You guys figured it out before I even did!! But I didn't give him permission to use my account and that's all I can really say.

    5) I understand that you folks are literally going by what you see in the backend and you have to base your decisions on that but I just wish there was a better process that wouldn’t affect people that are actually innocent. TBH, I can’t even think of a process that would work for the crappy situation that I’m in since he knew my account login info and plays in the same house. So I guess it’s just tough luck...

I’m not expecting you to unban my account and probably wouldn’t have played a whole lot anyways since there’s a lot going on in my life right now but I just really wanted to get this all off my chest because I can't stand the idea that people now think that I’m a rule breaker or something when I played this game 100% legitly and fairly from lvl 1 - 120.

Regardless of everything, I am still pretty disappointed that my account got banned over something that I'm wrongly accused of since it took me about 2 months of playing to finally get to 120 but at the end of the day, it’s just a game and I’ll move on. His brother sincerely apologized to me and I'm not going to hold a grudge over a game.. But I really enjoyed playing on the server and getting the taste of nostalgic maplestory again. The people on the MapleRoyals server are the best! Hopefully in the future I can play on this server again but after this situation, I'm not sure when that would be. I have no hard feelings towards MapleRoyals or the GMs, since it makes sense to ban my account based on the backend info and I'll just have to mark this experience as a lesson learned.

your account security is your responsibility, our account sharing rule also comes into play when the victim is unknowingly sharing their account.

    1. Account Sharing - The act of sharing the use your account, sharing account information with any other individual, or the act of logging into or otherwise using an account owned by another person, with or without permission, regardless of whether or not the information was directly or indirectly shared. Punishment: First offense - 30 day ban, Second offense - Permanent ban. Please be aware that, in cases of severe abuse as per discretion of staff, we reserve the right to respond with a permanent ban regardless of if it is your first offense. See appendix for more information.
I understand - is that whats stated in the above condition? It sounds more like this condition was for those who try to log into someone else account that they didn't get permission for. That just really sucks for the victim. Is there anyway that I could at least get the 30 day ban instead of a permanent ban based on my situation? I know the permanent ban originally started because it was assumed I was linked a hacking account which wasn't the case.

unfortunately not as the user had been on your account assisting himself and actively partying to make progress. in addition to that he was hacking in-game.

Yes and his account got banned for hacking. I understand banning the person who was hacking but this is my account and I never personally hacked on my account nor helped anyone to do so. Alohamissy isn't his account, it's mine - and I'm getting punished for his actions which doesn't affect him at all, just me. That doesn't seem fair.

I admire all the GMs drive to find those who break the rules but I wish that same amount of effort/drive was also put into wanting to protect the loyal players that played legitly as well. Innocent players shouldn't be thrown under the bus at the expense to ban someone else - that's just wrong. Could you imagine how many people would be in jail if we decided to just arrest anyone suspected of a crime?

I know there's a lot of ban appeals and other things GMs have to do, but I feel like this was just a quick decision that was never really given any chance or thought. With all the time I put into playing on this server (even some money) and the situation, I would've at least appreciated a warning or temporary ban (even though I technically did nothing wrong.)

It's almost as if you were to get your car stolen and some criminals used it as a getaway car for a robbery. How would you feel if the cops decided to throw you into jail because the getaway car was technically registered to you even though you told them your car was stolen? And then they respond "Too bad, your still going to jail. It's your fault your car got stolen. You should've used a tire lock in addition to your alarm system."

    Yeah... messed up, right?

I would appreciate a 2nd opinion on this from another GM if possible. Thanks.

In this case, your boyfriend's brother was hacking while in party with you, and he controlled your account by HS-ing himself (account sharing here). As such, you were banned under the above clause. So since his brother is banned for hacking which is permanent, so the same applies to you.

Also, would like to point out that not all real life scenarios apply here. Just like how one country's legislation is different from another. Similarly, countries have their own laws, we as a server have our own rules.

That's fine - you folks have your thoughts on the situation and I respect that. Thanks for the 2nd opinion. Just wanted to share my thoughts too.

Also, its true that all rules differ by countries but overall everyone has the same set of morals which makes up their laws like no killing, stealing, etc. But you're right, not all countries are the same - there's definitely select countries like North Korea who have no common sense morals.

    Peace out!
