Non-Beneficial Suggestion I suggest that there will be an Island Custom Gach added to the Maple Island. The gach should consist of all job items nerfed to have no advantage on the island whatsoever. You had randomized maple umbrella stats in the anniversary event so i don't see how this can be a complicated thing to do. There are hairs/other version nx items already available on the island so i don't see any objection to the idea since they would just be for looks. There's a huge beginner community that wishes for the old v62 island and with a gach like this would get more people from this community to join. Also a lot of the islanders usually donate to change their look so a bigger community would be beneficial to the entire server. Chairs that we can receive in normal gachapons would also be a nice feature for us Islanders.
I personally came to this server to be a islander and heard about it from being a islander on gms. This would be a nice touch the island in my opinion and would motivate a lot of players to get past 30 which a lot of people seem to stop around.
I swear me and introvert were talking about this last night haha this is a great idea! I was thinking about making an islander because my bf has one and id certainly love to see this happen!
My understanding is that you are suggesting implementing all items for jobbed folk to the island, except with no statistics attached to them. This would involve introducing several hundred foreign items to the island. I'm not terribly enthused by the idea. To my mind, the very ethos of Maple Island is its simplicity. I like that I can collect all possible drops without running out of inventory space; I think it is supremely charming. There are already plenty of cosmetic items available through the cash shop, both for donators and otherwise. As a rule I am generally sceptical toward introducing new items to the island, and in particular I am unhappy with the notion of giving us items the rest of the Maple community doesn't have. We live with a proper subset of what Maple Story offers, and that is why I find it such a tremendous joy.
Idk where you get several hundred from but a few would be nice. Can offer things as simple as a baseball bat that I would enjoy using as it has a different animation with normal attacks than a 1 handed sword or polearm and is held differently but thats just my opinion. Plus a cape/overall would be nice to scroll since ive accumulated a lot of scrolls for those items.
Which I believe I addressed. I agree the occasional rare event reward would be nice, be it a baseball bat or one of the lesser lunch boxes or something similarly novel yet innocuous, but I wish for it to be something requiring considerable work. The Maple Umbrella was far, far too easy to acquire.
So add simple items in the npc shop that can be bought with a high amount of mesos which takes a lot of grinding/looting or the gach doesnt have to use the standard remote gach that can be bought in the cs and can be some challenge to obtain it.
It could contain items specified at Beginners, scrolls etcetc. Nothing too major, but small things like Fruity Bamboo, Umbrellas, undertradeable chairs?
MyungSoo, what you've suggested (statless job items) isn't feasible due to the huge amount of editing it would involve. A lot of our gachapons have 150 or more items available in them. I've put the suggestion of an evilly hard and long-winded custom quest to gain a random gachapon chair to Chok, and he thinks this might be acceptable, but it's something I'd have to discuss with the rest of the staff.
Beauty Parlos NPC's are the least concern for people who are wanting to take being a Maple Islander seriously. First and foremost I'd like to see some Beginner and Jobless items being sold in a special NPC for high quantity of mesos or exchanged for certain ETC items or even a combination of both. I would imagine the easiest way to do this would be coding the a new NPC/Maple Island Gach over time or just including them into an already existing shop. It does really getting depressing to see the same Snowboard/Leather Purse attack animations over and over and over again.. it would be nice welcome change. It would also be nice buff the spawn rate/quantity of monsters on Maple Island too for when the grinding becomes really slow 40+.
Why choose to be an islander if you want stuff changed. Just don't be an islander and go to Victoria Island instead?
I think there suggestions are fine, obviously the islanders on this server would like to see these suggestions happen because they WANT to stay islanders, thats the point. What would be wrong with adding some Beauty NPCS, or even adding an item that drops like the candles did for the anniversary event then have an npc where you could trade them in for cool begginer items,or nx, or even make it like a gachapon so you get something diffrent every time. Just small little things to keep people from getting bored when it starts to get really slow.
Honestly as an Islander since '07 I find some of these suggestions really creative. I suggest having beauty parlors drop from monsters like an event that was on gMS few years ago, that when you use that parlor it randomly changes your skin color, hair color, hair style, eyes and eyes color. This would add a little bit of entertainment in the island. I find gachapon not as a good idea. Fun factor is important but from what I remember that Islanding used to be about the community and the struggle to level up, but changing looks won't change the grinding speed. But Gachapon could supply items like red whips that would increase speed hence increasing exp per hr. I find the island good as it is but beauty parlors dropping would make it much more fun!
[Having an islander myself] I don't want this to happen. I like how the island is. Adding items/cosmetics to the Island will make islanders look different. There for, give you an other experience. Because we're aiming at nostalgia here, I don't think it's a good idea.
That is a really good f'ing idea. I do think that maple islanders are boring as hell unless you're there to chat with your mates.
