So I can appreciate this sentiment for sure, but I want you to know that not only are people not putting in effort to farm things themselves as I described in the first post, they simply try to steal stuff off other people who are farming honestly, but anyone with a mage will just farm on that character and loot on the other characters that they want them on. I don't farm anything on my Night Lord, Hero, Dark Knight, Buccaneer... etc. I farm on my Bishop, and the others loot the drops. You wanted to ensure something that pretty much doesn't happen anyway, and things are just as "abusable" as they always have been. Sorry to burst that bubble, just wanted to make sure you were aware of the realities.

I also think it's pretty stupid that I worked for a character that I don't even particularly like playing just because it's better at collecting items and enhances my core ability to play this game and I'm being innately barred from that advantage that I put in the effort for during events simply because it's not what staff likes, however that's beside the point, I suppose. I really resent the notion that using a character that I made for its advantages is being considered abusing the event. People who steal items are abusing the event. People who purposely block others from their rewards are abusing the events. Using my Bishop to farm stuff like I do for literally everything else I would farm for is not abusing the event. It's actually kind of upsetting to even consider this is a staff stance.

Actually, thinking about it more, I think that the untradeable block being meant to block the "abuse" of using our mages to farm is pretty ridiculous in general because this restriction that has been put into the game has essentially created the issue of actual abuse that I've described in the first post, largely at the expense of people who are already being restricted. If you want things to improve, perhaps you should reconsider this change, because it's literally creating a ton of problems in the name of a both a misguided and failed goal anyway.

Actually, the event items being untradeable has made me play much more, cos i farm the stuff with my NL, sure there is some looters every now and then but I don't see it as big a problem as OP describes. And the argument, that people are stealing advent calendar gifts, the drop rate for em is nearly high as the drop rate of the nevermelting snow, they literally drop for every avenger I use in hhg2.

TL:DR people being mad because they have to actually play other chars than their bishops.

But like, everyone tells mages they shouldn't ask to be viable in bossing because they're good at grinding and therefore shouldn't be good at bossing. It is really strange to me that using a char that I made and put hard work into is considered abuse when I'm simply using it for the reason it was made. Mages have always had an advantages in grinding, I don't see what's so wrong with using it for that purpose when that's literally what they're meant to do?

But let's be honest, most of the players would just buy the christmas dinner items instead of farming them, if they were tradeable, atleast I would. This event actually makes you play the game, instead of loggin in twice in a day just to buy the items.

I can say with complete honesty that in all the years of events I have completed on this server, I have never once purchased any of the event collectible items. Near the end of every event, most of my friends and I begin trading our event items around to get last minute rewards, during the event we share snows or candies or candles or Wish Tickets or Red Envelopes around to friends who have had more busy lives and haven’t been able to farm their own. This rule has destroyed all semblance of that teamwork and friendship that has been around since the beginning in the name of now allowing us to use our characters the way we want to. That feels so very sad. People still sell these food pieces now, if you were curious. They advertise that they’re farming and you can pay a set fee to complete your set, or they’ll smega that something they don’t need has dropped and ask money of the person who loots it. Fear not - you can still purchase your items even now!

Once again, these limitations are a farce. They created the scumbaggery I’ve talked about in the first post, and they accomplish nothing in the long run anyway. I am so fearful of more events with these ridiculous limitations in the future, since this event is literally based around a holiday of giving, and yet we can’t give shit. Untradeable Red Envelopes... I would honestly have lost all faith in life. They’re literally meant to be presents. How far is too far? I believe we’ve long since passed “too far.”

You realize that about three people have come forward in this thread saying that we use our Bishops because we actually play like four other characters constantly and the sheer amount of work that we have to do for this event is ridiculous enough that we should be able to use our Bishops to help us farm more efficiently, right? Like, this doesn’t even make sense. We play our other characters all the time. We might as well not even have the Bishop at all if we're not allowed to use it.

These posts are the epitome of what I said in the first post and it’s fucking disgusting. Why do you feel the need to call me “mad” for wanting to use the character I specifically made to farm stuff? Instead of actually working toward improving one another in this community to actually be positive and create the fun environment for Christmastime, we have people pointing fingers at one another, telling one another to suck it up, deal with it, calling the way that we play the game abuse, calling us mad. This is absolutely horrific. I honestly don’t even know what to say. I’m sorry I even bothered making this thread, I guess. Should have known better than to expect a shred of positivity out of people. It’s 2018, after all.

Should I, as a player, whether I have a powerful mobbing skill or not, be FORCED to place my character in a popular snow-farming spot such as Henesys Hunting Ground 2 because I feel the need to participate in the Snowman event? This is just one of many spots that exist around in the server and someone (Not talking about myself, but for others out there who I know have this issue) who can't play more than a couple hours a day perhaps shouldn't feel obligated to do it, IF they feel the urge to do more than just grinding/bossing and Snowman. There is much more to this event. There is a lot more content compared to last year's. There will be conspirancy related to this but I feel like this is too much to have both a limitation and the snow being untradeable.

This may be my unpopular opinion and some of you may disagree what I've said in this post but as a Player of Royals' community, I dislike as it is now.

I'd like to add my opinion as well if anyone doesn't mind.
About the mules, I agree about the participation and it does sound rather favorable if the christmas present was like last year, given when exiting the map and you have participated by hitting the boss for a certain amount of times.
However what I also wanted to add, is that in my opinion it is necessary to have more than just 1 character for the event anyway if you ever wish to get at least 1 Red Sock or some chair you were hoping for etc.
Might be just my bad luck but I did the event every day! last year with only 1 character, multiple times a day! and didn't get squat in the end.
The untradable snow is just annoying. I admit I farmed for it last year and my first initiative was to sell it. However I did still farm for it, thus I should be able to sell it or use it on another character. It's not an unfair advantage if you spent time on getting it in the first place. It's not an unfair advantage if most of that snow is used for the Snow Blower which let's face, is in everyone's favor.
Besides, like you mentioned earlier, it doesn't take long to collect for 1 entrance, so it wouldn't change anything for the new comers either.
I think one of the reasons why there's less people participating in the event now and why most of the maps are empty unless smegad a thousand times is because :

If you collect snow for 1 entrance, it's not that long really. But doing that for multiple entrances takes more. Doing the same procedure on more than 1 character, even more. In the end it becomes a time killing routine and leave you no time to do other stuff in the server, bossing, leveling or what ever. Whereas if you could transfer the snow, you'll farm a certain amount of time for it, have it in stock for every entrance not to mention snow donated for the Snow Blower. It's insane how much time one has to invest in the event, if they aren't reliant purely on their 'luck'.
So yes, this year I am doing the event with 4 different characters to try and increase my chances on getting what I want [:D]
Not to mention, doing it with 4 is already extremely exhausting. And yes I do participate with each and every one of them. So don't get me wrong, I think it's actually great and very well thought of, to make it only possible to participate with 1 character at a time!
However snow being untradable, to my every understanding, is a total inconvenience.

    Speaking as a player here

I've participated in events for a few years now. Both sides- having suggested things to do for the event as a staff member, and having seen what does and doesn't work as a player. I've seen both sides of how feedback is taken and given, and how people react to things when they happen in game. I also have a pretty decent understanding of how people work, I understand psychology and the cause/effect of actions.

The more you limit people, the more they will try to find a way around the limitations to abuse it and take advantage of it. If you give people more freedom, they're actually less likely to go to extremes to abuse it. As it is now, you have the main event items untradeable - this puts a barrier of access up for people who aren't as lucky or as good at farming. What this means is that people will become assholes to each other just to get what they need, knowing it's more difficult than before, and thus also has more value. People will KS, steal loot, hoard a map, etc. And they'll do it in such a way that it's too fast for you to even try to report them, let alone get enough evidence for a report.

Things I noticed work best in the past:
-- Tradeable event items. This encourages sharing between people much more than it encourages abuse. As was stated above: Using a mage to farm, which is their literal purpose, is not abusing it. Mages are much more effective at farming, that's literally their only purpose. Farming and grinding. Sure, you'll get some people who will sell it - but why does it matter? In other games, you get people who either buy a ton of event items, or they farm it all. If someone's willing to buy, they put in the effort to make the money, so...it becomes a circle, and somewhere along the line effort was put in.

-- Participation requirement (ie: hit 20 times on the last body with 50 people cap in the map to guarantee a present directly placed into your inventory, with ample warning via onscreen / in chat message saying to make sure you have an open etc slot)
-- ALONG WITH the tradeable items: A "fee" to enter the Frosty zone to begin with, which adds to the collective amount needed to spawn the snowman.

-- Level requirement to enter (Level 30 or level 50 prevents people from making actual mules who have no intentions of participating or playing that character aside from farming presents, and is easily achievable for a new player within a day or two at least)
---- Presents remain 1 of a kind, unstackable.

    Additionally?
Stop worrying about 'mules'. A large portion of the players who have a "mule" in the event are people like Mike who have multiple, active, main characters that are played just as equally as one character. If one person has to farm twice as many snows just to join the event, then they should be allowed to join the event on as many characters as they want to. If there's not only a hit requirement but also a fee requirement, then why does it matter if someone decides to join on three characters? That means they have to pay (example) 300 snow rather than 100, and have to hit a total of 60 times minimum, rather than just 20 times. They're putting in the work, why limit them?

I think this is how Trump got elected.

People don't hit the snowman because there is no requirement and one person's contributions is insignificant.

After consideration of what people have to say and some thinking, I've decided to give things a positive light rather than a negative one, as well as address one specific comment about me that has since been deleted. Most importantly, I want to give a deep and sincere apology for perpetuating the negativity that I myself was upset about to anyone who I may have offended or upset with previous posts in this thread.

As of today, and for the entirety of the rest of this Christmas event, I will personally be donating at least two hours of my time each day using my Bishop (17symbol), with exception for real life circumstances if/when they arise, towards farming Christmas Dinner foods, Advent Calendar boxes, Nevermelting Snow and Stars of Maplemas Spirit for anyone who needs them. If you are in need of any of these items, feel free to track me down at Henesys Hunting Ground and collect whatever it is you need. In the effort of fairness, I will be adding and rotating people who arrive into my Bishop's party as necessary so as to help everyone get first crack at the items they seek. I cannot guarantee a specific time per day, however I do hope that I can help as many people who need it as possible. This effort will be in the name of three major points; the first and most primary reason is to hopefully reduce the number of people who feel the need to take from others that are attempting to farm for themselves, the second is in a peaceful protest of the current strenuous limitation on event items, and the final is a simple love for sharing during the Christmas season.

Thank you all for the wonderful words in this thread that have led us all towards a hopefully more enjoyable Christmas event. Cheers!

I didnt get a chance to read fully through every reply, but why not make event items tradeable and set an expiry date that coincides with the end of the event...?

Aside from the warnings (it had one at the start of the fight, but I don't think it was quite enough), wasn't this how the snowman boss used to be back in 2015? I remember we had threads on threads of feedback and multiple server checks to tweak the bossfight. Granted placing presents directly into inventories was mostly to prevent old source lag, but it had the nice side effect of not having to worry about picking one up.

Also, my deleted suggestion: add the event drops to the droplists of bosses that non-mages usually do, including dinner items and snow.

The solution is actually very simple. Don't be a dick. GMs should start dc-ing afkers when they are free.
