Character Name: Nullpo Last thing you did: Jq event Why do you think you got banned?: Idk Ban message when attempting to log in: Trouble logging into the game? What GM banned you (optional): ?
First off it wasn't a serious/believable claim as it was an exchange of multiple sarcastic comments initiated by another player and my response was a sarcastic comment as is his statement was sarcastic. Someguy: Where are the forums? Nullpo: maplelegends.com Nullpo: kappa Also if you believe this is under Solicitation - The act of advertising or soliciting any sort of commercial opportunities of any nature, including chain letters, pyramid schemes, investment opportunities or commercial advertising, or additionally providing access to any location that does the above. Punishment: First offense - 7 day ban, Second offense - Permanent ban. That's not quite right either, people don't get banned for saying "youtube.com" "facebook.com" and so on, these are all more realistic advertising measures than my supposed scenario, yet no one is banned? If saying "maplelegends" in all chat can get you banned then make it clear on your tos "do not talk about other pservers", because your rule should allow anyone to be banned for any type of website referral. Theres literally no reason for me to be banned.
What makes you think that his question was sarcastic? By deliberating providing him a direct link to another PS server, it's indeed considered as an act of advertisement (as stated in the first part of the rule you quoted), or to be more specific, an act that may cause the player to unintentionally visit and read information that has no relevance to MapleRoyals. Don't be surprised that majority of the player base don't even use/know how to access the forum. Also, for obvious reasons like players jumping to another server which I think is pointless to mention. As for YouTube or Facebook, I'd like to point out that we also ban for other forms of advertisements, which is basically stated in the rule that you quoted. In this case, YouTube or Facebook is merely a social media platform, and nowhere by its nature does it have anything to do with MapleStory private server (of course, unless the person ownself search for it, but that's out of our control), nor is it anything shady (e.g. adult sites, deep web stuffs, etc).
Generally speaking, we can agree that to find resources for mapleroyals you refer back to the website where you originally downloaded the game. There is realistically no one stupid enough not to know where the forums are for the game you downloaded from the website. Sure, believe this if you want but I have a hunch that the only reason I was even 'prosecuted' for this was because maplelegends is a realistic competitor to royals, have I said "Nullpo: {mapleX.com | X ∈ {Some shitty Pserver in gtop ranked less than 100}} " I wouldn't have been banned because they arent 'deemed a threat'. Well this I can say to be pretty much not true, by signing up to royals you have to agree that you're 13 years of age or older, so we can exclude children being "tricked" into visiting maplelegends, we can assume that people over the age of 13 who were able to download the game and sign up and play are smart enough to figure out that being referred to maplelegends.com doesn't make sense since the game you downloaded is from royals.ms. They definitely are advertisement platforms, google ad revenue or private company ads running through those websites is what keeps them alive, also, so if I were to talk to someone about bangheros latest vid (maplelegends) I were to get banned? (I have done so in the past so I've advertised maplelegends, but supposedly thats okay now?) (I guess this is my second strike and thus a permanent ban?).
I'll respond in numbers with respect to your paragraphing. 1. Generally speaking doesn't imply that it is always true. It's just general speaking, a general case. As staff, we have received tons of help request and players not knowing where to access the forum. 2. Using mathematical notations won't change the meaning of your respond though, provided someone understood it and reported you for it. 3. True, but still, refer to #1. It's just a general assumption you made which doesn't necessarily apply to all cases. For all you know, someone may be thinking "Oh did the website get updated?". 4. Agree with you that they're a for-profit company, but like I said, they aren't anything related to MapleStory, and if you say "Hey go Facebook/YouTube etc etc", it doesn't take anything away from us (MapleRoyals). Sure, the player can all of the sudden google "Best maplestory server", but that's what he ultimately decided to do which is out of our control. And no, you can talk about BangHero's video and it's fine. Besides, he made tons of videos, so unless you're being very explicit about it, it's fine. And no, this is your first offence whereby you were caught. So it's 7 days.
