Well like you said in your guild nobody washed and they probably did HT with a lot of people too (not 6 players like here). Here where everyone wash pretty much nobody will invite you over somebody who washed and is more reliable, even if they have weaker range. The only ones who will invite you are close friends or something but even then you'd probably die anyway and you can't really rely on HB the whole run (if you even find a drk at all, most runs just go all NLs)

No offence but I suggest that the staff should really pay more attention to what’s happening right now on the ground that is HT runs, rather than just state what is politically correct. The expectation in this server is that you are washed enough to survive boss runs and this norm basically make it practically necessary to do hp washing. I understand that it is possible to do HT without washing but you just make your life harder. It’s not so easy to avoid these pressures and I don’t mean just socially; the lack of end game content makes life in 4th job more boring without the likes of HT, toad and other bosses that do high damage. And socially wise, can you really find a decent HT party who will take you in and accommodate you? If you are a casual player you might find one but come soon enough people doing HT will be avoiding you like the fly.

You talk of an experience that players come looking for or are used to. This experience is the original GMS/EMS, a server with 1x/1x/1x and no free NX or other luxuries of a private server. This translates to everyone training their character, exploring the world as they level up, training with friends, and upgrading their gear every 5 or 10 levels. As such, the original servers were much more focused on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd job experiences.

Earlier @Evan mentioned sacrifices that must be made if you want to HP wash. In this case, you must sacrifice the entire leveling experience that people are used to. You skip the majority of content in the game (1-135) by leeching and HP Washing so that you can have a better time in the end game, which consists only of bossing. You sacrifice the short term goals of having fun for the long term goals of having fun in the end game. HP Washing and the mindset of playing for endgame was completely rare in GMS.

I think the core of the problem is that the increased experience rates accelerate players too quickly to an end game with a lack of content. If you compare the amount of content from 1-120 to the amount of content between 120-200, there is a huge difference. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd job have multiple continents, tons of quests, variety, party quests, bosses. 4th job only has ToT and a few bosses. This is pretty bad from a game perspective, but it's because at this version in the global maplestory servers, very few players were actually 120+ and even Fourth Job advancement was relatively recently added in GMS (in 2008).

I think these problems are inherent to the original game at this version, and exist here to the fault of no one. MapleRoyals is a much more end game experience than GMS/EMS, this would be true even without HP washing. HP washing has become highly relevant in terms of the economy and the bossing "meta", which is unfortunate because it creates a barrier for new players and changes the way to play the game from the original.

So you want the game to be easy for anyone?
Do not have to worry about HP ever? Do not have to sacrifice anything up for something better?
Life is made of choices, you do whatever you feel is better for you.
I know many people who doesn't like to boss at all, people who like to do quests and who doesn't,
people who like to do PQs and who doesn't, people who pay leech for mages and bishops which levels really fast alone.
Each person plays the way they want, do what they want and whenever.
Who wants to do changes to the game just because they don't like it, or because they don't want to do it, are just selfish.

and those who refuse to change a game just because they like the way it is now are just as selfish and thinking of their own desires than those who would want to see it changed. Don't try and put yourself on a moral high horse, you don't want change for the exact same reasons that people do want change.
A game can constantly improve and get better. Imagine if games NEVER got patched. I'm not saying that all change is good, and i'm not saying that staying the same is bad, but sometimes you have to chose. you ask people if they never want to worry about HP, but isn't that exactly what HP washing is for? All we're asking is to make is more accesible

Yeah, lets remove hp washing after many people have wasted billions on it already just because other people can't do it. Makes sense.

GMS got patched, how's it now?
There are some changes that works good for the most and there are some changes that doesn't.
HP Washing is a choice, people can do or not.
If you wash or not, doesn't affect MY gameplay, only YOURS.
    Removing it affects EVERYONE's gameplay.

It's like removing Chaos Scroll from the game, it is expensive and whoever uses it becomes OP.
You don't have to use it if you don't want to, but if you do it will make the game easier for you.

Yes, but chaos scrolls are actually entirely optional, unlike HP washing. A chaos scroll will make you op, it is not a base requirement for so much end game content like HP washing has become. you can play just fine using regular scrolls, but try getting a party as an unwashed bowmaster.

My MM isn't full washed atm, I need like 800 APs to reset my 12k MP off.
And I go krex/Zak almost everyday, and I might HT as soon as I hit 155 with friends.
People need SE, they don't care if the bowman is weak, low leveled or has low HP, they just want your SE.

Chaos is as optional as Washing.
Try going to HT with a NL wearing a 10~15 LUK cape, DEX on shoes, >14att bwg, a Craven made without White Scrolls, etc.

After reading all of your comments, here is mine.

I do agree hp washing breaks the community as people just focus on leeching rather than training together. In addition, I do believe with minimal washes (mp gained from level ups, job advance and whatever Int gear that you can afford) would be able to boss such as Zakum and Horntail. However, HT would need HB which may be inconvenience for some non washed or minimal washed people. For example, finding a Drk might be a struggle.

In conclusion, hp washing breaks the community and the nostalgic (training to 120) part of the game. However, I do believe minimal washes (about 6.2-6.5k HP before HB for horntail) is needed to reach to a more convenient point for HB and be able to boss at a lower level.

To add on, if there was a removal of hp washing, people who washed would complain because they spent alot of time and billion of mesos in it so I dont know how to compensate these people. Also, I feel like we as a community are putting alot of pressure on new players to hp wash (alot of times, when I interact with new players, they always say "they must wash inorder to boss").

I think there's no really good way to fix HP washing, it's just kind of how maplestory worked back then. if anything, just lower the price of AP resets as pointed out earlier or lower the amount of MP needed to wash.

HP washing is free. Just put ap into int, save your NX for your own ap resets. Just have patience lol

My experiences with HP washing have been very sour, and while it's not required to experience all of the game's content it's still expected that you do otherwise you're obsolete. The way things are right now there's such a strict path you have to follow in order to be efficient and if you try to deviate from it you're going to be spending an absurd amount of time longer trying to do things you could've done easily. In the beginning it feels like you only have one option when it comes to choosing a class and that's of course making a mage. The long term benefit of having one and leveling it enough to where you can sell leech and fund yourself outweighs any other class, especially considering you would have to remake that character eventually if you chose not to make a mage. Even then not having a mage means you would either have to buy leech or grind with base int which is a pain even with stat specific equips to counteract it.

If you're someone that doesn't enjoy the mage class or just likes other classes more, your other option is selling AP resets as they're always going to be necessary in this "meta" or Gaching which isn't reliable but the payout can be much higher in a shorter period of time. However I personally feel like this method encourages you not to play the game at all after reaching level 50 until you manage to slowly accumulate enough funds and at the earliest get int equips to start a character without leech. Of course it doesn't stop there either, because you're also going to need resets for washing and depending on your class you'll either need them right away or you can wait and do one big wash without much or any loss. You can get maybe 1/4th of the resets you need by voting as you're playing assuming you're a class that doesn't rely on level up AP but otherwise the cost is so extreme, for someone new to Royals and washing itself it feels like it's almost impossible to achieve.

Of course HP washing isn't impossible and people have managed to do it, but it's such a daunting thought and process to go through that it can turn you away from the game and make the whole experience less enjoyable or even frustrating. Having to worry about leveling even just once without wearing your int equips is stressful and can make the process that much longer, for some they won't be washing out all their int until 155 and that's already a disheartening thought. I imagine it gets easier the more and more you progress and you eventually get used to it but starting out is so rough and often just ask why bother? Unfortunately the server's been around for so long that changing it will screw anyone who achieved this beforehand but leaving it like this isn't any better.

I feel like your 2 line response to inferalalice is unnecessary. I also just read your other response to Fireheart. You're just arguing over the use of 'necessary/required' without trying to figure out what these guys are trying to say. There's not much point to arguing over semantics, is there? No offence here, just pointing out what you were trying to do.

It makes a big difference when new people join and they're told they have to wash as opposed to they should wash.

This is the problem exactly though. "just put ap into int" ruins the early game, you don't do enough damage and can hardly hit anything. I don't want to sacrifice my early game fun for my late game fun, and vice versa. no game should ever make you sacrifice fun, because games are supposed to be fun the whole time, that's why they are called games.

But then agian, it is a personal choice to wash or not. Maybe make two characters? (1 washed and 1 non washed)? This way you can enjoy the class to the fullest. However, I think minimal wash would do on royals but it might be harder to get into HT parties or you just need drk friends to tag along lol
