Hey, Could this feature could possibly be removed from use until a better error handling system is implemented to not allow for items to be lost after an item sort? It would be too much work for admins to recover everyone's' items. -Oldie
No wonder I lost my Saddle after I de-equipped it and sorted my inventory. The problem should be posted as a notice in-game to all before the complaints pile up, in my opinion.
The root problem seems to be that a number of things, including etc drops and potions, have a random tendency to stack in larger quantities than they're supposed to. Until item sort was fixed, this was only rarely a problem, but it is potentially much more of an issue now.
Sounds good, I understand. However I was looking at it in a much smaller scale. Such a scale that before the item sort was released, no one would be losing their items. With this being said, perhaps a warning message should be received by all players logging in for the first time after the message was sent out. A message that warns that the item sort system is still under construction and to be wary that items could be lost if stacked items are improperly sorted; and should ask players to report any glitches they find on the forum.
I think if they'd known this was an issue in the first place they would have delt with it before it caused any problems.
@ Oldie - it isn't the item sort that's buggy, it's the way things stack. Obviously, if fixing the stacking problem is going to take a long time, we might have to temporarily disable item sort, but that's a matter for our dev team to discuss and make decisions on. In the meanwhile, people need to keep a closer watch on their inventories, particularly if they use Ciders and make sure they don't have more items than their inventory would be able to hold if things stacked as they were supposed to.
