Is it possible the cooldown for the quest to receive a Crack of Dimension to be reset upon 00:00 server time? The entry requirement is already limiting enough because you can only hold 1 Crack of Dimension per character and you can only receive 1 Crack per character if the quest has been completed.
Alright quick question to the gm/admins. Is forfeiting the quest repeatedly to gain the piece of crack considered an abuse?
I concur with OP, and it would also be nice to have a slight increase in tachion droprates for the prequest as it can be quite a pain for some classes due to the mob spawn/map size. I did it on a NL and was already getting quite frustrated having to collect 300 of those.
I mean, you're able to put the cracks into storage and then gain another one the next day, but even then you can only do pap twice per day. Resetting at 00:00 server time sounds fair enough though.
What if people want to do it twice per day which is the daily limit? The quest timer doesn't seem to be accurate either~ Spoiler The Crack of Dimensions is the limiting factor now and it's frustrating because they aren't readily available in the free market for a reasonable price. No one bothers selling the item anymore because you have to travel to Ludibrium to receive the crack. Honestly, I'd settle for having the quest properly reset after 23 hours.
How game breaking was it really to allow multiple runs of Pap per day? It was a staple boss for lower level 4th job characters to run for the meager exp it gave. If its an issue of too much XP, well right now killing Pap gives 4.8m exp split between two bodies. Bigfoot which is a lower level mob, gives 8.5m and theres theoretically like 100 possible bigfoot spawns acrossed all 20 channels for a player to kill. If its an issue of Paps drops, ive killed pap probably 20 times now, and ive not gotten a single book scroll or weapon/armor drop. I think ive gotten a 5k nx ticket to drop maybe twice out of those 20 runs. If you limit the boss to once a day because of you not wanting it to be farmable for NX, then just lower the rate of NX drop (not that i think its that bad to begin with) Otherwise the drop rate for Pap is incredibly low, any book or item/scroll it dropped will not have its value harmed that much if at all IMO. Theres nothing overly appealing about the boss that makes it worthy of a single run a day status. Should revert the crack back to a stackable item allowing for multiple runs a day IMO
You could run Pap as often as you wanted as long as you had a crack to use. The boss is basically not run at all by like 90% of the playerbase because of the lame limit placed on it
We will likely consider changing it to reset at midnight. The reason why Papulatus has a limitation of obtaining 1 crack per 24 hours (at the moment), but allows you to enter twice per day, is intended to influence players to party up with one or more other player. Just because it has a twice per day entry doesn't mean that there has to be a way to solo the boss twice per day.
The drop rate on Papulatus is lame, for real. The first time I killed it, I got a 5k NX ticket. I was like "WOW I can farm this two times a day and get lots of NX!!!"... Never got any again. Never got any good Equip drops, found two or three useless books. I went there basically for the EXP, which isn't SOOOO nice for a Boss that you can only fight twice a day (7% ish exp at 14x level for a 10-12min fight) I don't think the limitation is something bad tbh. @Enticing compared to Bigfoot, It's 100 bosses for thousands of players, must have luck to find them. I also think BF is waaaay harder to kill than Pap. Invencible frames, 12k touch damage, etc. I couldn't kill any on my MM without help. But I agree the EXP is pretty bad for a Boss. For whoever want to fight Pap two times in a day, just bring two chars to Ludi to get them cracks, I do that. You could also leave one there to trade in everyday and save the cracks in the Storage.
Well I mean, I said someone theoretically had access to a 100 bf's compared to 1 or 2 Paps. My point was the amount of BFs available dwarfs the 2 run limit that Pap has. Killing BF requires zero prequests. Heck it requires very little time committed to travel as well. And while I agree that BF can be very hard to kill if unfamiliar with its mechanics, BF is pretty easy to kill once you understand them. Ive had zero issue killing BF as a 131 BM. I understand not every class can, due to HP restraints or attack speed. As an aside, I think MM's might be the worst bossing class due to them being unable to pin a mob, but i understand your point!
I remember back in the day (2014) collecting cracks between people to do a bunch at a time with small parties. It was good fun. The new limit just makes it not worth the bother to get there.
I'm able to pin mobs pretty well with strafe. BF is just a pain in the arse because of the invencible frames. About Pap itself, without any comparative reasons, I'd like only two changes for it: Increase the EXP rate, it's not an easy boss, it has high HP and you can only fight two times a day. Should get at least twice the EXP it gives. Be able to stack up the Cracks (I don't want to be able to get more cracks a day, just be able to stack them up) like you do with zakum Eyes. This way I could just sit at Ludi for the week collecting them, and then kill at the weekends.
