I mean, besides the exchange quests or whatever they're called where you can infinitely exchange items for exp, but like for the normal quests in Henesys and Ludi and Orbis. I remember doing quests alongside training a decade ago because it was a nice break from PQs from 10-120 and without leeching and always grinding and the game being so competitive, it was a viable alternative. Now there's no reason to spend 30 minutes on a quest when you can gain 30-fold the exp by getting leech, or like x10 to x20 the exp from grinding or doing PQs. Also it'd be a great way for some people to actually get involved in the story or character of some areas like Magatia, Ariant, or Orbis. And since exp from quests later on in the game nowhere near match the viability of quests earlier on (I can get 1-2% from the average quest on my level 90 character whereas a level 10 can get 30-50% from a quest, and a level 20 can get 20-40%, and so on), maybe the exp gained can increase logarithmically so you can still get a decent % (not like 30-50%, but like 10-20% or even more) from quests later on. It'd add some variety. Something I enjoyed a bit in the current GMS (from like a year ago actually) before I realized playing GMS was a big waste of time was the new mini-theme dungeons and how they afforded viable leveling options while offering a huge storyline to follow. Something similar can be achieved if quests give decent exp. Only major downside I can see is the exp inflation, which would only make sense if one source of exp outcompetes all others (although 30-55 is a hassle), and as an effect, current options like PQs would be less viable. At least them being in comparable viability would give people more options to level (especially from 35-50 where you only have ludi PQ or maybe if you mob well, chronos or truckers or something). Thoughts?
Absolutely. As you said, for a full and rich game experience, questing should be a viable quasi-alternative (i.e. something people can occasionally do for the variety) to conventional leveling methods. It could also be a great tool in washing, since you could turn in a quest while wearing washing gear. As it stands now, that hardly ever works, because the exp gain is so tiny.
Theres quite a few Private Servers out there who have increased the XP rate of quests. I believe ive seen anywheres from 2x-6x for "nostalgic" servers. Id be pretty ok with anything above 4x. Most quests are extremely gimped in terms of time invested to XP given. Increasing the XP reward would make quests significantly more worthy of doing.
Definitely yes, it’s freaking tragic how the main appealing aspect of this game is grinding and farming. Maplestory is an adventure game with all kinds of cool towns/maps, monsters, and story. Yet we are encouraged to grind/farm in the same 20 maps lvl 1-200 with every character we ever make instead of questing because the exp is abysmal and the rewards basically non existent
GMS always failed in this matter Quests should guest like 20x exp bump, or some kind of exponential increse since the higher lvls are the ones who suffer the most boredom and routine levling, while lower levels have 1000x more mobs to choose, also PQs and others. Im a Lvl 147 mage and im bored and sad cause i dont want to hurt petris anymore Also, it would be good for some people to know the game better. Some high lvls only know the Boss maps and the maps in which they were leeched.
