Why is it that those who are supposed to be moderating forum discussions here so often incite conflict through taking hard opposing stances? If you look through some of the past feedback discussions, you'll find many examples of such. Isn't moderating supposed to be something used to keep discussions on topic and quell any sort of arguments that get out of hand? It's pretty concerning seeing both the playerbase's reaction and the staff's reaction to how these type of issues are being handled as in a lot of cases they are just widening the divide between the two groups that is already great. A forum moderator should be able to look at issues objectively, and also think about what they are posting onto a forum before they take any action.
You wouldn’t be posting this if said staff member’s post(s) was in agreement with your view(s). Moderators are allowed to have their own personal opinions too. Their opinions aren’t related to moderating. One can moderate a thread while also contributing their personal stance on the matter, and just because their stance may differ from that of yourself and your peers does not mean the staff member did not “think about what they are posting”.
The idea of moderating is so things do not get off topic or result in "flame wars" aka as negative discussion. They are moderators in this sense, but they are still players in the sense they can share their opinions and thoughts during a discussion. This seems like another "he doesn't agree with me so now im butthurt" thread.
I've gotten messages through the yahoo about Jae's ban, I didn't ban him, just to put that out there (please stop messaging me asking why I banned jae, or asking why he was banned, it's not my place to say). Since this is a separate thread and it's a topic more appropriate, I'll respond to this as well. All staff have a part in the discussion. Just because I'm a forum mod doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be a part of the discussion, and we (the staff) discuss a lot. But there's also stuff I'm not privy to. The Admins have their own chats, decisions are made on things there and I can't speak to that, and I never have. I wouldn't want to be an admin if even now, I can't post without it being an issue because I'm staff, even if now people just see me as a "forum mod so he has even less to do with the behind the scenes stuff", it would be even harder to post as a player... I joined staff as a forum mod because I wanted to focus my time and energy with regards to staff responsibilities to the forum, so I could keep in game for what it was designed to be, a place to have fun. Now.. I can't speak to why Matt and Andreas don't respond to threads, but I've been responding like I have for the last what, 3 years, and that doesn't implicitly mean I am (or Kai) are speaking in place for them because we're now staff. Sometimes we respond with tidbits like "We've discussed this" or "This is something we are working on", but you should take Admin posts as Admin posts... but I can tell you now, lack of posts by the admins doesn't mean they ignore feedback threads. Now, to respond to OP's main post... If you feel I'm not objectively moderating the forums, you are welcome to report my posts, or report posts you think I should be moderating (In all likelihood I just don't see the post.. as active as I am, I don't read every thread). I already don't handle anything directed at me, and there are other staff who can speak to that. But just because people don't like my posts doesn't mean I'm not objectively moderating the forums.
