TL/DR We've been having a lot of conversations about inflation & the rising costs of almost everything on the server, so I'm going to try something to attempt to do my small part to fix it. I'm offering free leech with several conditions (see below) to certain people (see below) to a certain level (120) when my schedule allows. It's my hope that this will help encourage people to pick less-mainstream classes, curb leech prices and contribute to a more altruistic community experience. Free Leech Our economy is not the same as it used to be. We have a stable number of players but fewer than we used to have, so prices (as they do in laissez-faire systems) have suffered and it's having a disproportionately high impact on newer & less active players. I think our server is at its best when non-godly items & services are affordable to as many people as possible, as that encourages active commerce & inhibits hording to a dangerous degree. I'm not a socialist and I don't think we need to hate on rich players for strategically using the system to get to where they are, but I do think it's having a negative effect on our server's prices and nothing will change unless some of us try to make it better. While the pricing issue is almost certainly a byproduct of having too many mesos in circulation without having a viable method of removing them from the economy, I also believe that our prices tend to be pegged to certain items/services. You used to be able to buy leech for 30/40m per hour and, over the last year or so, that price has roughly doubled. Unsurprisingly, the cost of Chaos/White Scrolls, AP Resets, TT/GE30/MW20, iTCG crafting items and others have increased in price at a similar rate - they're all connected and it's hurting new players. Things fluctuate and some formerly expensive things (Deputy Star, ZHelms, etc) have actually become cheaper, but I think the overarching bell-curve leans towards the inflationary side. Anyway, I don't like charging for leech and I never really have. Leech is a service mages can offer other classes that they can't achieve themselves and, as we're bad at bossing, I've always tried to trade leech for parties/helms/rings. What's the difference if they're both worth roughly the same amount of money for 60 minutes worth of work? Not much, but I'd prefer to do favors for friends than sell products to strangers; I hope other people feel that way too and keep that in mind next time someone needs a little help but can't afford it themselves. I am offering free leech with the following conditions: 1. It'll likely be split leech as I'll either train a mule or try to combine two people at once to be as helpful as possible. 2. It'll likely be at Petris (which I can only 2hko as I'm not that fancy) and it'll be up to you to find a map for us if I don't already have one. 3. While I'll always try to give you at least 15 minutes before signing off, I'm busy outside of this game and can't promise you'll always get a ton of time with me. 4. Don't read this as "I can stop trying at X level because he'll leech me from there;" this is merely saying I'll offer an hour or two here or there when I'm available to people who fit into these brackets. The game is still meant to be played and enjoyed properly! I am offering said leech to people who fit into the following categories & classes: A. I'll offer this service to any Class C attacker (Cleric, Page, Buccaneer, Shadower or Marksman) starting at level 105. These is the people I'm really doing this for. Clerics have no viable training location for 105-120 without grind partners at Himes and our server gives no love to the other four classes. If you're thinking about starting one and this helps tilt you in that direction, then we've already made a little progress! B. I'll offer this service to any Class B attacker (Hero, Dark Knight, F/P or I/L Mage) starting at level 115. These folks can grind at these levels but I fear their usefulness in our server (especially Heroes & DrKs) is diminishing. Let's change that. C. I'll offer this service to any Class A attacker (Night Lord, Bowmaster or Corsair) starting at level 119. I love these classes but they're so powerful in endgame that they don't need the help. Before you think I'm hating on them, know that I own one of each and enjoy them all thoroughly - this help is just better used for people who aren't as naturally strong as you are. This is meant for people who don't already have the money to afford a bunch of leech themselves or have a Bishop/Archmage of their own. If you can afford to buy leech or leech your own characters, please don't use this and take it away from someone who actually needs it. You don't owe me anything for this service but I do expect you to pay it forward when you have the ability. If, someday, you're running a boss party & have the chance to deny a weaker class a chance to join you - don't. If you could take 5 minutes to help a brand new Bishop kill their Manon for Genesis, do it. If you know someone got scammed out of leech, give them free split for an hour to brighten their spirits. Our community is at its best when everyone is helpful and friendly - I know you can find a way to do it too. I won't be doing that only because (a) if someone can't grind to 105, they won't make it much further after 4th job and, more importantly (b) I'm already at Petris/Skeles because I'm leeching mules or other people already. Get to 105 and then hit me up.
