Do you still keep bunch of WS/CS so equips can be manufactured immediately upon request? I guess scanning for CLEAN perfect equips can work as well then. Buuuut, I often saw RWT sellers making list of godly stuff they are selling at what price. For e.g the screenshot nany took yesterday of the 14/64 red mantle. And there was a LOT of them. How do you explain this? Are they making lists of "potential" items they can manufacture? I highly doubt that's the case.
Pretty funny how big the emphasis is on rwt when its the least of your problems, at least with rwt no creation of wealth is taking place, just changing hands, where as your real problem is the ease of botting on this server making 10b+ a day without lifting a finger. When I used to play this dude had multiple accounts botting in ToT auto d/cing people if you loaded his character on your screen, always kept tabs on him, went solid for months, probably still botting now tbh lmao. I'm just curious as to whether the people really give a shit about the root problem or just get upset cause someone has stronger pixels than them. Spoiler Most of the people complaining about rwt wouldn't give a shit if it was only in small amounts, they are just angry cause they have weaker pixels
I'm not talking about the potatos who use macros to bot, i'm talking about vaccing monsters to the top right of the map and d/cing people by packet based exploits if they come close enough to render their character. There are so many people just vaccing mobs making mesos fall from the sky, collectively as a whole, probably making 100b+ a day and there are people here worried cause someone is willing to spend a couple of dollars for some black looking scroll that will make your weapon attack go negative.
I'm not too familiar with the Asian RWT scene, but those items you mentioned were probably from a single individual who has decided to quit his bowmaster or something, since they came in a package (145 shiner, mantle, atk gear), meaning their intention is not to be a serial seller, but just someone who just wanted some exit cash upon quitting the game. Pro members of RWT sites (usually ones with paid for/upgraded accounts) are sellers who make continuous profits and not just one off. These people have a systematic approach to dealing with the whole situation. If you wanna talk about economics, the root of your problem is not RWT itself, it is the various exploits in the game that needs to be patched. Like nullpo said, there is no value creation through one off RWT, you're simply giving your equips to someone else, therefor it does not impact the economy. Your real problem is to combat the hackers of the game, being able to spawn and generate hundreds of billions in value and injecting it into the market, that is when it will fuck your economy. with that being said, you guys literally have one developer and probably the only one who knows software, which I'm sure has real life commitments therefor making many of these suggestions (including my own) just not feasible. I mean, maybe over time it could happen but lets be honest, how long will this server still be up for lol.
How ironic. I laugh at the weak attempt of superiority hoped to be gained through having (how did Nullpo put it...) stronger pixels? The very logic of pay to win is to rise above the mediocrity of those who wish to grind and use the free means provided in-game to reach a similar end. The funny thing is, you replace the word "mediocrity" with "legitimacy", and it takes only grade-school cognitive abilities to see why RWT exists. Even funnier is that if everyone paid out to these RWT sellers, a "legitimate" paradox would occur. Suddenly those "elite" few would find themselves among those of similar stature, power, and capabilities. Everyone would be HT'ing, everyone would be end-game OP, everyone would be near the same. Dare I say, Maple Story (see what I did there?) would become too easy? The competitive nature would be gone, and many would move on to the next thing. But wait Mr. Yagami! That's not how Royals is, omg, why are you going on about a theoretical concept! Because. The game is meant to be played a certain way, and in doing so, it is a journey; one that entwines both frustration and fun. If you thought when you first started this game that you would be OP in 1 month you were wrong. Furthermore, this game was never meant for you. This is a debate of purist principles and grotesque laziness. I ask any RWT right now this one question: If you go make a private server where everyone starts off with perfect equips. How long do you think that server lasts? The fact is: You feast on the competitive nature of the game, while scoffing at those who are legitimate. When in fact, it is those who are "legitimate" who really lay the foundation for which others can "rise above". Without the legitimate player base you are nothing. But you already knew that. I don't give two flying eff's about hacking "value creation". If you sell someone a perfect weapon, and they now can join a HT party because their range is acceptable. They've helped create Gen 30's, MW 20's, etc... perhaps in my mind I consider that "value creation". Perhaps I also would consider that if said person subsequently sells their RWT purchased item, that is also... "value creation". This isn't about a lesser of two evils. RWT needs to go, period. Either way, you are a drain on this game, one that which, clearly, was never meant for you. Go make your own server if you disliked this one so much. Peace!
Okay, since you are incapable of understanding what I posted, let me school you on some basic economics. Person A who has godly equips, sells his equips to person B. In this case, an exchange of hands has taken place with no new value being created. The only thing changing here is OWNERSHIP of the equips. Person B now uses equips to HT/boss whatever and makes money, that is not value creation. The act of bossing would have still been done on person A before he sells his equips. Now what if the same exchange happened but instead you're giving the equips away, without real world currency involved, does that create value? lmao. Not once did I say RWT wasn't a problem, I said it wasn't the "root" of the problem. The root of the problem is hacking to generate wealth, which is an incentive for serial RWT sellers to do what they do. THIS is what impacts the economy, which is the subject in matter. If you wanna talk about maplestory philosophies and how the game should or shouldn't be played, that's down another alley. I understand why you would be mad, but taking this out of context and trying to defy basic economics isn't the solution.
Lmao great, so economically speaking you’re innocent. Congrats? If you want to debate the root of the problem why add to it with a lesser problem. That’s my point. Frankly people like you disgust the hell out of me. Am I angry? You better believe it. If this root problem of hacking is the incentive for why RWT happens, then maybe you can step forward and help identify some of those hackers. Surely you’ve had run-ins with them?
Since you seem taking pride on what you did and actively engaged in this topic. How about educate us a little. Tell us how you did it, who you sold items to, and how can Royals stop this in the future. That way your "legacy" will be with you forever, and you won't just be another serial RWT trader that got banned.
If Blizzard, a multi-billion dollar enterprise, hasn't figured out a good solution to hackers in their MMOs, I don't really expect a private server running off a game client from 2009 to really be able to. Especially without the ability to implement any real client side AC. This is of course, compounded by only having one real software developer to find and patch any exploits that arise from the re-implementation of the server. If you've read some of the profiles of gold farmers in WoW/RS, they don't give a damn if their accounts get banned, they try to move product fast and it's just written off as a loss. I ran into one of the ToT Vac/DC hackers that nullpo was talking about and he never submitted an appeal, probably because it was just another account that they just shrugged and moved on from. That's why the best way to try and combat gold buying/selling is to aggressively find and remove buyers until the market dries up. But if you're popular enough, there will always be new buyers coming in.
Just to chime in. Resum is right, it's not as simple as implementing an auto-ban or just banning the hackers. They're here because people have created a demand for their services, and the people who commit the RWT are equally guilty (IMO). All facets need to be addressed. I want to remind people that there's a rule in the Forum T&C: If you've been banned in game, you are welcome to continue to browse and use the forums, but admitting to major abuse and potentially encouraging others to do so (and frankly a lack of concern for the server or remorse for breaking the rules), won't be tolerated.
Dude lmao why straight out ban Hitta? Let him talk more. Let him reveal more info on this whole RWT business so we can get more knowledge on how to curb it. Now he can't even rat out the veterans anymore. SMH.
He had plenty of opportunity to do so if he actually cared about royals. While making multiples posts on threads regarding RWT, I only saw him stating how proudly he managed to earn income with cleverly devised system. He wanted attention and he got it. Doubt he would have given more even if he stayed any longer.
He was never going to reveal anything .. He just wanted attention and to be known as the person who RWT'ed and made thousands as he was proud of his behavior .. He never cared about anything but himself, not even his "customers". If he cared a little about his customers, he would have kept it silent when he got banned for vote abuse and not go out and show off his RWT activities and equipment either .. He's a selfish, indecent human being who just wanted to get some attention for some reason .. I, for one, am so glad we got rid of someone like him and hope to never see him or him-alikes ever again .. That being said, I hope this thread can go back to the main topic of suggestions to stop RWT activities in the server . I enjoyed reading this thread (until that guy came along here too and diverted this thread's attention to himself) as there were some really good ideas and would be lovely to see more
The whole reason i left GMS and came to this nostalgic server was because the game became too P2W focused. i assumed the rest also got fed up on it and came for similar reasons. but why would people come here and do the same thing and buy their way to the top? it's a freaking private server. don't you have better things to spend your money on? go pay in GMS and get your shot at greatness instead of ruining the rest of the players game experience.
Just another thought that came to my mind. Some serial RWT sellers apparently "manufacture" goods upon request from a buyer. This means they use hacks or glitches to farm billions of mesos and use that to buy overpriced CS/WS, clean gears from the market and self scroll the items. I guess they can just purchase scrolled perfect weapons or gears but that would leave obvious suspicions like the case of 9527 therefore would most likely self scroll from clean item. Among all clean gears, shoes are most rare. Red sock supply is at the bottom of the graph and only remaining source is FS. They are crafted in limited quantity as it requires large chunks of refined steel, compared to glove/cape that can be gached. It's inevitable for RWT sellers to buy crafted FS from FM or via smega. (I don't think they'd go through the hassle of crafting one). If just the supply and whereabouts of FS can be be monitored, it may cut down the supply of high att shoes on RWT market. This can be done mostly by staff but anyone who crafts FS can support this movement if we...lets say create a thread posting screenshots of all the clean FS trade logs, showing the IGN of person who bought it.
I agree with focusing on taking out the demand. This has been shown time and time again with the dark net markets and all sorts of illicit trading, that as long as there is demand, there will always be supply. But once the demand is gone, supply vanishes overnight. Focusing your resources on taking out the supply is easy, but it is a never ending battle, and a very effective resource sink. One good example would be the piracy of music. We had all sorts of web services in the early aughts dedicated to the proliferation of music and other wares with copyright companies playing whack a mole with all of them, but when spotify came out, a good amount of people suddenly stopped pirating altogether. The demand for easy access to music has been catered to by spotify, and people had no reason to pirate anymore. I still think the most important and significant cause of the rise of RWT is drop trades not being logged in new source. Remember when charlie mentioned this in his 'farewell' posts? Shottamic mentioned drop trading with RWT buyers, if drop logs were still a thing, all his buyers would've been easily traced down by now. I'm honestly baffled that this is still left unfixed for almost a year, and even after an ex-gm told everyone about it. There's other exploits that are likely circulated in other black hat forums out there, but I feel that this is the crucial link that makes RWT work so effective. Other than the alarming lack of active moderators, of course. Honestly, even if I would never spend money on microtransactions, much less one on a volatile private server that puts my account at risk for doing so, and after investing heavily into this server with about 80b worth of equips (probably jack nowadays with all the inflation) and almost a full inventory of unique chairs, I don't really care about RWT. It's basically just replacing grinding in the game, with grinding outside of the game. There's a lot more problems that affect the server, such as duping and hacking, which RWT may encourage, but as has been said this doesn't actually affect the economy by itself. The people who complain about RWT buyers just sound like the 'devalues my ironman' whiners in OSRS. Putting your efforts in increasing bytes in a database server halfway around the world and expecting you to be in complete control over the perceived value of it is pretty crazy. In hindsight, I wish I had the wisdom to have had spent my time doing something as productive as hitta did with his on royals.
RWT is literally comparable to drug dealing irl. Its not easy to catch everyone and the authorities do what they can with what they got to work with. Also they can't just go based off assumptions. And if one goes down, another takes his place. The "market" gets opened.
