If you play using public VPN, you risk getting banned because people will definitely hack on it sooner or later. So to prevent that, you'll need to get a private VPN, and make sure you're the only one who have access to it. Although I don't really get what's the relation between you getting a VPS and VPN? They're both world apart (even though only by a letter).
