Why is it that your forum moderator always seems to get involved in issues like this one? It's obvious that he does not know his own role and that he has not learned anything since the last major backlash against him.
Just want to chime in. I've been a part of staff discussion since last July, you were there for a lot of it. Second, Joel is a part of the staff chat Actually. Has been for a while now and is very active and has been helping Andreas with crunching numbers for the update. Spoiler: Joel Then, I bolded another part... I don't know why you think I'm not a part of discussion. I was very active in discussions while you were staff.. and you're right, I wasn't a part of the discussion to give the guy a refund. Hense why I said I don't speak for Tim. I have been however a part of discussions on whether or not refunds should be given... prior to very recently, the last discussion happened in November. Now..I see no reason to continue to derail the thread further as.... ...everyone is adamant that they want to hear from the Admin who made the decision, and he will, of course, be able to comment if he'd like. I will be locking the thread, awaiting @Tim 's reply if he wishes to do so. Otherwise the thread has reached it's course. Thank you for your feedback.
Since this was my decision I'll address the most important on-topic points of this thread: Scams have been refundable in the past when the person being scammed provided evidence of the agreement that was confirmed and not upheld. (for example a case where someone agreed to make Stormcaster Gloves for a player if they provided the ingredients and a small fee for the use of their manual however they ended up keeping the produced gloves.) The refund process has later been removed from scam related rules due to not being able to take the scammed amounts / items back from the scammer in all cases. Scam reports with the proper evidence as listed above are considered: Objectionable Behavior (Disruption) - The act of engaging in any sort of action that is deemed to be excessively disruptive to the individuals around you, including spamming or flooding chat or skills. Punishment: First offense - 3 day ban, Second offense, 7 day ban, Third offense - Permanent ban. The reported / banned player broke this rule for the third time and ended up being permanently banned. Since this is not obvious to everyone and to gather more ideas to make it clear and justified to people Evan has rightfully opened a feedback thread regarding this subject here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/potential-t-c-scamming-drafts-and-ideas.122028/ technically since the equipment is unique unlike mesos they could be destroyed from one side to not cause dupes. Not a very bulletproof solution of course as other items like scrolls / billion mesos coins and other valuable items that dont have unique stats wouldnt fall in this category. Scamming is not suddenly able to be proven, it has always been possible to provide evidence of a scam taking place by the person that's being scammed. They can write a certain agreement and have the opposite party agree with that, followed up with evidence that their agreement was not upheld. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here as you express concerns that the current ToS doesn't specifically state scamming and refunds but you refer to dropping your items as breaking the ToS for scamming which is contradicting. Besides that I wouldnt define dropping your items for a stranger to pick up a scam. A scam is an act of fraud or a dishonest scheme. None of those occur when you decide to drop your items on your own. It is a mistake made by me to officially refund a player that got scammed regardless of their clear evidence as the current ToS does not support this decision and we don't have a construction in place that offers refunds in particular cases. I based my decision on previous cases that had other (older) ToS support which is an overlook on my part. I have taken the refunded amount (350M mesos) from one of my personal accounts to undo the staff refund and make it a personal refund instead. As mentioned before all staff members (including Joong) are part of staff discussions and also have the right to join forum conversations with their personal views. If an official staff response is made that will be made clear in the post itself. I'm not sure about other cases as I havent seen any in recent history besides this one, perhaps you could elaborate if you want them to be addressed. I hope I addressed all of your points. If you still seek clarity on this subject feel free to do so as I will re-open this thread for responses. Do stay on topic though and happy mapling!
I'm glad to see an explanation for this particular instance! It's unfortunate that we had to derail and lock the thread before though.
