Info Progress Update 11th April

Lol damn, I stand corrected (big time!!). To be honest I just did a little bit of research and tried to piece things together but I guess things are much more complicated than that. Thanks for the corrections and explanations though, it was definitely an enjoyable and extremely informative read!!

 

Even if it isn't designed in Java (do we know for sure if it was made in Java?), and if it was instead coded in a variety of other object-oriented languages, they all handle random functions mostly the same as described. One would need to program their own form of random to get anything distinctly unpredictable with a nonstandard algorithm, and "ain't nobody got time for that." Unless you're trying to encode government secrets, it's all a waste of programming effort.

So suffice to say, it's unpredictable enough that you would have to be manipulating the rng with computer precision, using a bot to predict when the best upcoming seeds are, then gaching on that EXACT seed, which at that point, you'd just be breaking ToS by using a bot to gach for you, and that's assuming you knew ALL of the numbers being used to create the seed. Even just recording all events you encounter and extrapolating possible seeds and possible algorithms, it would take you forever with the best of supercomputers. It's beyond the scope of human ability to gach perfectly like that. It's far more likely that gach success you always see is just survivor bias.

 

Chok was right, and so are you and that's the important take away. No matter the random number generator used, let's have a little faith in Kevin, whatever it is, it's going to be sufficiently random to make people take out their little tin foil hats and speculate.

Fwiw, i felt that it was interesting to question the randomness of the game. I took the randomness as a given despite not knowing the mechanics behind it. So thank you for asking and a bigger thanks to chokladkakan for taking the time to explain it so thoroughly.

We are estimating an update within the next 2 weeks.
So far, everything is going very well, but there's a lot of things to do. To summarize what have been completed since my last update:

1) Easter (I know...don't remind me) is fully implemented.
2) Anniversary is about 90% implemented.
3) Login server stuffs (channel population, view-all-char, deletion, pin/pic, etc) are all fully implemented. Remaining stuffs are all backend GM tools related, so I won't mention them here.
4) Cash shop servers are fully revamped. This should solve the "stuck in cs" issue. But we'll monitor that once the update is out.
5) Winners from the quest events have their quests implemented and tested.
6) Shanghai has been added and tested out for all quests, and mobs are buffed to make it a viable grinding region for low levels.
7) Not sure if I mentioned this before but, Chat Messenger is working!

There are definitely many many many more things I did not include, because I don't want to spoil the fun. But the above (and everything else I have mentioned before) are some teasers to what we'll see in update 54.

Now that is left is some backend stuffs that needs fixing/implementing (for staff purposes), have Andreas sort out the remaining 10% of Anniversary, then we're off to intensive testing for a few days/a week because there's literally so much to test. So yup, within 2 weeks from now is very viable.
