Character Name: ZARLIC Last thing you did: N/A Why do you think you got banned?: Soliciting RWT Ban message when attempting to log in: ID blocked/deleted What GM banned you (optional): N/A Hi All, It has been a year since I was banned, and I've been missing MR. I know my ban reason to be soliciting RWT back in August 2017, and would like to formally request reconsideration by the staff. Although I realize this may be futile as even soliciting RWT is considered a major infraction, I still wanted to take a shot in the dark and revisit my appeal. This ban really shook me back then, and I hope you will see my sincerity in wanting to come back reformed and be able to provide a positive impact on the current and future MR community. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Zain P.S - I'm not currently home, so my IP will be different. Can provide any verification needed.
@Tim Would you kindly explain to me why solicitation warrants a permanent ban? Humour me, please. A permanent ban for actual execution of RWT I understand, as the player has wrongfully benefited over others; however, I am not sure why this policy extends to solicitation when no actual benefit has occurred. In addition, the user has apologized, spent a considerable amount of time away from the game, and has come back with the intent to bring a positive contribution to the community.
Because we want to rule out any and all real world trade including attempts towards doing so to keep the pay to win aspect out of the game. Thats why we wrote the rules regarding rwt like this:
Keeping it out of the game in all aspects is absolutely fair; but surely a permanent ban is overkill. Wouldn't a temporary ban be much more effective, wherein the user would not only correct their behavior, but also now be watchful of others breaking this same policy? Ban permanency just seems unfair to the user, especially if it is their first offense. At this point, I am more worried about future users (those that contribute to new-user development, community comradery, and donations) who "skimmed" the policies, and are now sitting with their hands to their foreheads regretting an easily correctable mistake that has cost them everything, while gaining/effecting nothing.
No because people with ill intentions would get away with their first attempt as well in that case which leaves more room for real world trade happening. We decided that we wanted no gray areas for this offense. We dont believe this rule is easy to forget or skim over or assume otherwise as real world trade is a banable offense in nearly all online games.
By definition of a temporary ban, they would not be getting away with it. They would also be flagged as a repeat offender if any future infraction occurs. Also, it is not about forgetting the rules, nor is it that this infraction is considered "common knowledge", as some users only have time to play 1 game. Permanency is also encouraging users to evade bans, in desperation of coming back to the game and to their friends. It is a counter-intuitive policy, and I am sure this has happened/is happening. It seems that this policy is sending a clear message to new and loyal users who have spent hours playing and contributing stating: "we do not empathize, because we say so". And that, I believe, is a little ridiculous for a private server who in itself is in violation of Nexon's policies of recreating a game using their proprietary content.
Excellent way of avoiding the other points that I mentioned above. To those reading this: read the MR terms carefully, or they will rob you of your time.
