So far as I can tell just from skill descriptions, the effect only takes hold if you've already stunned something through BSB or DUC, neither of which I use due to the clunkiness of the skills and the unreliability of the stun application. I've often experienced that even monsters that are not immune to stun, sometimes simply refuse to be stunned, and of course all bosses are fully immune to it, so the skill seems like it would be wasted points even if I did use the relevant abilities. So is there something I'm missing? Is there any point to even getting the skill prior any others?
Personally I've never used or needed Stun Mastery. It's not going to effect your end game so don't worry over it too much. What level are you currently? I would add a few points into it first other wise skip it since you don't use the stun mechanic anyways.
Currently 87. My point distribution thus far is Energy Blast 21, Energy Drain 1, Energy Charge 30, and as you might assume, I plan on maxing charge and blast before anything else. I mostly wondered in case there was a reason to work on it prior to transform and shockwave.
It’s suppose to help DPS but if you’re not going to use the skills that cause stun ignore it for now. Max it instead of shockwave imo. Shockwave is completely useless compared to Dragon Strike down the road
It's good at early 3rd job, at things like WR it's really op if you have SE cause you could kill mobs in like 2 hits It's useless at lvl 135+ for bossing though
It can be useful for mobbing but it's useless for bossing. You take it because your other skills (shockwave) are completely useless relative to dragon strike, and you're going to be mobbing anyways. Personally, I found BSB + energy blast was the best combo for mobbing in early levels.
Thank you for the info. I'm at 93 now, grinding at Ulu 1 and am just using CSB for minor mob control and mobility with energy blast for output, working decently enough. The thing I prefer about CSB over BSB is that I can jump before releasing it, allowing me to actually move along those slopes more reliably. [Using it from standing doesn't always make forward momentum for whatever reason, even if it hits something.] Edit: Additionally, the ability to jump before release with CSB also allows some interesting interactions with platforming, as the forced forward motion can secure precarious jumps where enemies might knock you away, and can let you reach platforms you can't quite reach otherwise. Was especially useful in something like the first stage of LPQ.
