So I made myself a dragon knight and was following this random guide on some skill builds. The guide recommended picking either a spear or a pole arm saying hybrid's not all that worth it, so I picked spear. After taking all the spear skills and completely ignoring the pole arm ones, I found some Royals specific guides and comments here on this forum and mostly all of 'em said to go hybrid.

So my question is, is Dragon Fury: Spear at all worth investing in as spears are better suited for thrusting. Or should I go for Dragon Fury: Pole Arm and respec my spearman tree to more of a hybrid kind?

DKs have a couple of useless skills so in my opinion you kind of have to go hybrid at the end of the day. The question is how serious hybrid you will become (the most serious being maxing booster, mastery for both weapons and Spear Crusher and Pole Arm Fury)
The useless skills I'm referring to are Dragon Blood and Sacrifice. They are only used to unlock other skills. Maxing them is a waste of SP. Some guides may tell you that Power Crash is useless too but this is not true for Mapleroyals. My advice is, max Power Crash. Definitely if you are pure spear, but also if you are hybrid (even though you have less points to play with in this build)
Fury for Spear is not a completely useless skill, but it's also not very useful. As pure spear, you max it (that's the meaning of pure spear) but as hybrid, you only level it partly. You can leave it at 1, or as high as 14 I think. If you are interested in the hybrid build, you could start moving towards it. In my opinion it's a fun build, but pole arms have their prime time from Lv. 30 - 100 or so. You don't use them very much after Lv. 135 so in end-game you will not basically be playing "pure spear" no matter which path you went.

Oh if pole arm falls off later anyway I don't really feel the need to go hybrid. Was only thinking if they were gonna become necessary at some point but in that case I think I'll go pure spear.

    Thank you :]
