I play guitar and keyboard, and am looking for a new instrument to play! Something unique would be cool ;-) (might try steel guitar or ukelele) What type of instrument do you play, how difficult was it to learn? What brand would you recommend?
I play many instrument but my main is the bass guitar. Its very fun and different, making your fingers work over them and with different movements than those of a guitar. For rock / metal I'd recommend an LTD, but if you're into slapping (which is the most fun you can have on a bass) I'd go with a Cort.
Learning how to play the harp was something I always wanted to do, though finding teachers for that is super hard, and I don't have time for it either sadly..
I play(ed) piano, violin and drums; as for drums, it's not hard to learn if you are a bit of a virtuoso and are rhythmic. I would recommend starting off with a basic drum kit, they're not that expensive, either. You will most likely be doing most with the kick, snare drum, hihat, since this is your bread and butter; later on, you'll be using your high/mid/low/floor tom and cymbals for more complex songs/beats. Drums is different compared to the instruments you play, obviously, though, since it's percussion and you're more into playing the melody of a song. Violin is a lot trickier to learn... It requires more precision and you have to be very delicate. And it's weird if you're used to guitar (and vice versa, I suck at playing the guitar). They're also more expensive...
Most guitarists when they switch to bass, have no problem, but I just can't get the hang of it - Maybe because I was trying to "slap the bass" a little too much lol. I might give it a second go around. Oooh the harp! So rare to find! It's like finding a cat that can sing. Anyone who can even play the harp or even owns one, has bragging rights for life. I'm "okay" at drums, but I never learned what each one is, I just banged the things to make it sound cool, or finger tap my desk, that was always fun lol. What brand of drums did you enjoy, and how long did it take you to learn violin?
