Hi all, I have been around since 2017 but by no means a veteran or some sort (I even stopped for like close to 8 months if i remember right) . Now I'm back to Royal due to recent launching of global Maple Story Mobile Version and i kinda felt like why not i just start back desktop MS , and so here i am back. But the time i get back to this server i instantly got reminded that i had screwed up on my first step to the server ( which is also part of a factor which lead to me stopping ) . And i hardly doubt that no one knew what i had screwed up. Yes, my first char created ever is a NL instead of a mage and i have already been lvl 4x into the game when i realise i had to perform HP washing to actually allow me to get into end game bosses. (At the time of writing this i stood at lvl 8x and had completed a lot of difficult quest like zk jump quest and alcaster one in el-nath with teleport rock still bugged that time) And i know this had been hotly debated about how non-wash can also participate and i think both sides had good points too. The aspect of HP washing and its fundamental principle is not all that bad, washing allow one to actually tank bosses, or otherwise able to tank extra hits if you can already tank one hit. But what is daunting of HP washing to us newbie is that it is IRREVERSIBLE. The time you realise, it might already be too late and you have to scrape everything of what you had built. Loyal players might not felt that this is a thing but to newcomers this might just be the last straw for them. My below recommendation is also solely cater on to solve this irreversible issue and at the same time treating everyone fair. And i would also like to keep the current HP washing method as the it is only an alternative ways to HP wash. Introducing a HP Rewarding Quest (Repeatable for every 24 hours passed - something similar to how the current golden pig event works) Pre-requisite: - Since HP is only relevant to end game content, i would suggest placing a level requirement of 100~120 to unlock this quest Quest Requirement: - You are required to pay a sum of 15~17m mesos to complete the quest (or some other form depends on what is suitable) - You are granted that amount of HP similar to how you would using the AP reset method ( based on your classes ) - Once completed, you can only repeat the quest after 24 hours (similar to how voting NX works) (A) What problem do this quest eliminate? 1) Mainly the irreversible aspect of HP washing. With this quest in place, you know that even you screw up on accumulating extra MP, thats still a way to salvage the situation later down the road. 2) Reduce the number of leechers between lvl 10 ~ 120. People don't have to leech through this level range and actually can play the mid game content. 3) More players around LPQ , LMPQ , OPQ ? 4) No more complex calculation on how much extra mana required in order to achieve specific hp goal 5) Spending less time on calculating formula and make human error and screw up in the end and spending more time just waiting off the quest cool down ( meaning more no-brainer or you can invest your brain power on somewhere else ) 6) Speed up current process of HP washing since current hp washing method still exists (B) What problem do this quest create? 1) INT items related stuff might have price dropped and all the previous investment on int equip previously might suffer lost 2) Gaining hp through this mean actually did not minus MP, which possibly result that some ppl might have extra MP compare to others (not too sure if this will be an issue ) 3) Lash back from ppl who had perform the HP washing and rant on how this quest screw their effort and stuff...... (C) What stay the same although the quest is introduced 1) the amount of mesos spend on HP washing (since the price on completing quest is the same as a single AP reset) 2) the amount of time spend on maxing a character (not too sure if its same time but definitely very lengthy process since only repeatable daily and amount of hp add up is pretty minor ) let say on a thief : 20~24hp per APR * 365 = 7300 ~ 8760 hp per annum 3) AP reset price might fluctuate a bit but will have no drastic change since old way of HP washing still exist and ppl might still opt for this way if they think questline is just too long of a wait time. 4) Everyone can theoretically have 30k max HP on their characters. ( many ppl might not be fond on this as ppl think of 30k max hp is an achievement and not all should be able to do so. What i must say for the bottomline is i think every game should reward their loyal gamer in some sort of way and i have chosen this as one of the ways since achieving 30k max hp through quest is gonna take a REALLY REALLY long time ) With all these being said, i still would like to hear feedback from the community on this idea. I might have left out something that i am not aware of. And thats it from me and sorry for my long-winded feedback. Peace out......~~~~~ ============================================================================================================ Side-note to developer I think the HP/MP pool itself might contain a stats-like counters currently. I theorized this from how it is not possible to pull extraMP out of the pool if none is put in yet. Through the quest above, i think the best way to solve this issue is to treat every single reward of completion of the quest to be an extra stat and automatically allocate it into the HP/MP pool rather than directly increasing the HP figure to prevent any glitch or introducing any bugs into it. However, this stat must be treated carefully as to not allow the stat to be able to pull off from the pool, (maybe through some identifier like how does this stat got add in, whether through lvlup or reward from quest) else its gonna make the game so imbalance.
Not viable. And your last reasoning comes into play at the highest level. Let me tell you why. Say there's a character someone's HP washing and leeching at level 100 sth. Say it's a NL. He's got tons of extra MP he'd like to put into HP now. Imagine he's extra dilligent. Leeches some time, goes to that quest some time and buys AP resets to wash HP too. And then, one day, this just clicked into his mind. "Now that there's this quest that got my HP to 20k+ and I still have lots of surplus Mana. What IF I add all of that to my LUK using AP reset?" Just imagine. Close ur eyes. With this many people participating in the game, I won't say it isn't a possibility. This is gonna be so screwed. Bottomline, if there's a cheaper or more or less equal alternative to HP washing exists, the original method must go. No two ways about it. But what do I know? I'm just here to henehoeing. #Kamijo
I don't think you got the washing concept right. I think HP/MP pool stat is interchangeable, but not to your main stats. Coz if what you said is correct, ppl will mp wash their ass till lvl 15x and with those amass extraMP, they can have optimum amount of HP and at the same time use those extra MP to add into your main stat, no?? so yeah , i don't think your concept of washing is correct and it will not be possible to utilize that extra MP elsewhere other than your own HP pool (since you allocated a stat point into HP)
Your statement above seems a bit contradictory, as you claim that you have to wash to participate in end game bosses, but at the same time you say are aware that you don't have to HP wash - which is true for all bosses (apart from the case of Castellan Toad). So since you had levelled up to 80 without washing, what exactly is it that is forcing you to wash now? Surely you were in the mindset of playing the game without HP washing, so why not just continue to play the game like that?
Hi Matt, I am well aware that even without HP washing we can still play the game. However, human is just born to not live alone in the world , not in maple world at least. If you want to participate in boss runs, team expects you to reach the bare minimum requirement, that is you do not get OHKO when HB is down. And I am also well aware that hitting minimum HP threshold do not guarantee you in a team as well as there are also ATK range requirement. Set apart from how atk range can be improved later into the game, you can't say the same to HP washing. You don't start early then you're screwed. With that being said, I am still not very fond of HP washing to start off my first character and it is also true that I have decided not to HP wash my char. Perhaps what I fear the most is when in future where I feeling bossing and got rejected 90% of the time from the community. I don't know. Being rejected is really hurtful to say the least. xD
Get a good guild. Build relationships. I have two separate characters with two separate guilds and when I asked both of them "Is it OK if I don't wash?", both guilds said "Yeah, it's fine. If other people don't want U in bossing parties, U can always boss with us." Because, really....HP washing is not needed. What you need is good friends. And to get good friends you have to first be a good friend. #Kamijo
I really like this suggestion. A small HP gain over a long period of time would be great, but the requirements for the quests to be completed should be carefully considered. I think it's totally possible and would improve most player's experience with the server, me included. It would give certain players a chance to kill toad down the road who were otherwise incapable, or close but not quite there. Toad is kind of frustrating because it was added very late and had a steep requirement, so most people who had established characters with plenty of hp for the bosses presently in the game were excluded before they even had a chance. I think this addition would definitely help close that gap and additionally provide more progression to the end game. After taking a look at the numbers for each class, I feel warriors get access to way too much hp too quickly. In a year they get about 18k, so something would have to change there. I recommend making MaxHP Increase not apply to the gained hp. Although, I do think it's ok to keep the extra hp gain for buccaneers, because they have much less access to hp than warriors do and are expected to have the same amount. Overall, I really like this suggestion and it's very original. I would definitely like to see this added to royals in the near future.
