Moved into my new house (YAY) and got wifi today (MORE YAY) but I cant seem to be able to connect to royals - ' Unable to conect to server.....' (NAY) Added exceptions to Windows Firewall and AVG protection and disabled windows defender. May be due to router settings but havent a clue how to fix that. Im using a Virgin media superhub and Windows 8.1.
Don't worry hun. I'm a computer technician. I will help you through the troubleshooting process, and resolve your issue.
[Run Cmd] To start out, let's run some basic connectivity tests. 1. Press "windows-key + r" to open up the run window. 2. type in cmd A black box will open up. We're going to use this to test if your computer is capable of communicating with the server in a very simple manner. [Ping CBC] 3. First, type in ping www.cbc.com 4. Press Enter on your keyboard. (the program will now attempt to connect to www.cbc.com in a simple manner. This verifies that your ping command is functional) Let me know if you get "Reply from 121.78.127.249: " OR "Request Timed Out" [Ping the Server's IP] 5. Next, type in ping 192.169.80.74 6. Press Enter on your keyboard. Let me know if you get "Reply from 192.169.80.74: " OR "Request Timed Out" -Alex [I posted summaries on top if you're an advanced user.]
Sounds good. You haven't made any changes to your game software right? Using the right client? Double check and make sure it's not a change you have made to your computer since last using maplestory before continuing.
I don't believe so, I haven't touched royals since I left home and got to this house until the WiFi was installed today.
Let's try port forwarding on your router now, although it's not optimal, this may be necessary. Before we start, You need to take note of some information. Run CMD again. This time type in ipconfig After pressing enter, Take note of what you have next to "IP Address:" It should look like this: 192.168.x.x Don't post it on the forum, take note of it. Follow the instructions on this page to login to your router. Once you have logged in, get to the Port Forwarding page. under "Add Rule", you will fill in the form as follow: Name: MapleRoyals Protocol: TCP IP Address: (This is where you match the IP that you took note of) Click the "Add Rule" button. And now click "Apply". Now, according to Virgin, your PC is port forwarded. Try to run MapleRoyals again to see if it worked.
Let's just verify that I targeted the right set of ports if we even can. Please download this port monitoring tool. When you open it, click File -> Log Changes. Then click File -> Open Log (should get a popup asking you to create the file, do so.) Start maple, then when you get the can't connect message, go back to cports and click File -> Open Log. Check to see if you have an entry for MapleRoyals.exe Copy and paste it here.
Okay. Is there any way we could hop on teamviewer to see if I could investigate anything better from there?
