This bb-code seems to be buggy. If I highlight something, click the URL button, type in the link and then click okay. That selection will be a URL now. But if I continue typing, everything I type is then converted to that original URL. If I click the remove URL button, it will un-link everything including the original selection. Note, if you have un-linked text already present after your selection, then you can continue typing without it turning into a URL. This only occurs when you convert a text to URL and don't have any normal text ahead of it. **EDIT** If I hyperlink a selection, then want to add stuff before the hyperlink, my text will also be typed out blue (linked) Also, auto-url kind of sucks. If I edit my message to remove the link, it get's re-linked when I click save.
I am unable to replicate the first issue: the editor behaves as I would expect it to. Of course, whenever something's amiss, it is a fine idea to consult the actual BB Code of the message, accessible by pressing the rightmost button in the editor. As for URLs becoming hyperlinks automatically: this is clearly by design. When you save an edited message you're really just submitting a new message in place of the first one, the same URL parsing is applied again. If you wish to avoid this happening for whatever reason, you ought to use the [plain] tag as detailed in the BB Code help. For example, consider the two following: Code: [plain]http://royals.ms[/plain] http://royals.ms Yielding: http://royals.ms http://royals.ms
Do a space after you have typed the text that you want to change into a hyperlink. Because you are continuing on from the words in the link it will continue the hyperlink.
Not exactly. This feature seems to not have been programmed well. It allows converting highlighted text but then continues to convert any additional text added after unless the user moves the typing cursor 1 space away from converted text. The catch is that the cursor must be moved via keyboard, not mouse. The video here shows that. The first time I added a space and clicked at its position. The second time I added a space and moved to its position via arrow key. http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=szackw&s=8
