Hello! After reading the forums a couple of times lately, I notice all the discussion about lack of content, or 'end-game' content. In the few years I have been on Royals ( sometimes not so active ), after leveling to Lv 135+ all it was about was getting those extra weapon atk points on your gear. Grinding is not so popular either, as the larger part of this community confer to leeching. Royals has its fair share of good Nostalgia, however ignoring its negative sides would be in some way ignorant. Therefore, I would like to give my personal opinion on some little, or perhaps bigger issues regarding Royals. I'd like to mention that this is purely based on my opinion. I will attempt to clarify my opinions, however just stating that it is only my opinion and no one has to take it seriously . Monster Book So I heard Monster Book is being thought of to be added to the game and this is a great opportunity for grinding again. Most of you will remember how it felt so great to fill your monster book with all the monster cards, just for the sake of it. It gave purpose, a thing some people feel that Royals lack. To add on this purpose idea, it would be an idea to give rewards for collecting certain amounts of monster cards. In this screenshot you can see how this certain individual has collected almost all monster cards. And certain sets give certain rewards, in this screenshot somewhat, perhaps inadequate awards. However, it could go like this : Set 1 : +25 hp Set 2 : +25 hp Set 3 : +50 hp, all stats +1 Set 4 : +50 hp Set 5 : + 100 hp, all stats +1 Set 6 : +100 hp Set 7 : +100 hp, all stats +1 Set 8 : +125 hp, all stats +1 Set Boss : +250 hp, all stats +1 Now, considering this is just a speculation, giving hp rewards is what some Royallers want (to battle against the idea of only being able to boss when you've washed atleast 1b of your cash). Finally the drop rate of the cards should not be common in any kind. Maybe boss mobs should have a higher drop rate, but for any other mob it would be best to make the cards uncommon to rare, to further stimulate the feeling of grinding and purpose. Theme Dungeons The Ninja Castle update is one of the few updates that have (in my opinion) given more gameplay, purpose and fun to the game. To clarify, theme dungeon is a series of maps and quests that are intertwined to create a story to a certain area (Von Leon, Mushroom Castle, etc). The concept of a theme dungeon should be implemented much more, giving more fun and more variety to ones approach of levelling to the point where he or she can boss. Theme dungeons should not be limited to approaching the level to boss, but also exceed further than that. Creating a theme dungeon for Lv 135+ should not be necessarily a bad idea, should it be balanced enough. "But a theme dungeon was primarily implemented after Big Bang? Why not add potential cubes when you are at it?" is something you might say, well it certainly is not as nostalgic as pre-bigbang. But then again sticking to the point of Nostalgia where one ignores any kind of good, appealing and challenging content... A 'theme dungeon', or map location I want to specifically mention is Neo Tokyo. I remember this place being filled with quests that set the tone of this map series, allowing yourself to be pulled in the rough story line. This theme dungeon can offer quest storylines for us quest-lovers. This theme dungeon can offer grinding spots for higher levels to avoid having to boss all the time. This theme dungeon can present bosses that have rewards different to current bosses. To conclude, this can add more reason to play again. I know many of you like attaining that +1 weapon attack belt with 3 scroll slots just to be able to higher your damage more. Imagine being able to have a belt that somewhat looks like this bad boy. Amazing. Party quests / quests CWKPQ is a great addition to Royals, given the amount of rewards one can get and the challenge it brings as well (referring to my theme dungeon section again ). Adding Party Quests to enforce party play is something that should be discussed more. We all remember KPQ and how you formed buddies, guildmates and eventual friends there. In later levels nobody does party play anymore, apart from Horntail or Zakum. Adding another PQ should not be harmful in any way, given the exp rates are somewhat logical and rewards not absurd like miracle cubes for example. Mu Lung Dojo is something different than a PQ, however it does stimulate grinding and playing for a certain rating. In Royals many people try to compete when bossing. How long did it take him, what's his or her max hit? Things like that. Mu Lung Dojo in combination with ratings (class-divided of course) gives great motivation to beat your friends score again and again. Introduce the Dojo belts again, for they give another purpose, for the extra weapon attack people. As for regular quests, I believe they are massively underrated. There are many quests in Royals as of now that give great pleasure playing ( ofcourse not all *cough* arwens shoe *cough* ). A questline I would like to shed light on in particular is Alcaster's questline. This questline is amazing, it gives a great story combined with a great feature when you are done with these quests (the ability to buy summ. and magic rocks). Ever since the quest specialist medal has been introduced many people have started to pick up quests again and that is good news. Quests give purpose when you are grinding and content. Events I am a great fan of the events Royals has put through these years I am here. Personally I always wanted to visit those maps that were not in GMS, for example : Coca Cola Christmas event (nice alliteration) Now there are already maps in Royals that were not in GMS, like the World Tour ones and that is great development right there. End-Game The last thing I want to adress is end-game. Of course many people have quit over the years because they got bored. This is natural, one can not play the same game for ages. However, we can always invigorate old players to return so they can complete a new questline or theme dungeon or party quest or a new gameplay system (e.g. Monster Book). Hopefully we can have a friendly discussion whether or not you agree with this, perhaps you have even better ideas. I would really like to hear all of it. Moderator note: Accepted (partially) as several of the proposals have been implemented.
Very well reasoned and structured post. And one that resonated with so well. You made great points that I've tried to make before but never had the eloquemce or experience to give form to. I especially like the monster book and stat reward part, because to a night lord, 1b is nothing but a drop in the HP washing bucket....
That is most likely why it has not been implemented. However, all it was, was an example. The point I was trying to make and perhaps I was not clear enough, is the purpose of exploring new (never before seen) maps so Royals attain more (end-game) content.
