This made me think twice. I wondered for what other purpose monster sacks could be used. Then, I found an answer after a long period of meditation. Spoiler: Warning This is merely a hypothesis aimed to introduce something new and interesting. It HASN'T been tested yet Sairs truly have the best DPS in the game, theoretically even better than NLs. However, NLs usually dish out more damage against majority of the bosses (except wall bosses like Krex, anego, Bigfoot). Why is that? We all know the answer. Sairs waste a lot of time dismounting the ship and re-positioning after a knock back while NLs attack almost none stop, rooted in 1 position, thanks to their super high avoid stat and 30% shifter invincibility. Breaking the ship also costs heavy amount of DPS since rapid fire isn't as strong as canon while waiting on battleship skill cooldown. What if sairs can gain near-permanent I-frame protection? Wouldn't this make them outDPS NLs in a boss fight? Possible solution to corsair's dilemma is none other than Spoiler: Surprise Bob the Snail!!! I have recently confirmed with @Venin that monster sacks can be used inside boss maps (as witnessed inside Horntail prehead 1 after the head got spawned). High level corsairs have relatively high avoidability stat, although it's often not noticed due to direct comparison with the direct rival, Night Lords. Heart stopper adds 60 avoidability when used. With such high combined avoidability stat, what are the chances a lvl 1 snail can actually "touch" you? I personally don't remember walking through snails on my corsair character but I hope to believe the chances are very low if not almost never. Snail monster sacks that summon lvl 1 snail were released during 5th anniversary golden pig event. I believe other very low level monsters found from events or LMPQ monster sacks can be utilized as well, since the supply of snail sack is limited. Bullseye skill of corsairs will allow the canon shots to land on the target, past the snails. Another question would be, "What if snails move away from you? How do you keep it ON you while you attack?". is the answer There are plenty of 0 stat maple flags out there, or without str and dex. Equipping these flags would turn a corsair's range into 0 and make the attack miss (?) on any target. Old maplers used this method in the ancient Henesys PQ to aggravate the low level mobs and prevent their respawn. A corsair can equip this weapon and physically hit the snails to trigger their aggravation on the character till the character leaves the map. Snails will "chase" and touch the corsair constantly but HOPEFULLY, 99% of their touch will [miss]. I haven't tested this as I'm currently away from the game. Krexel Hypothesis-Left eye A key factor to remember is that the snail must stay alive through out the boss run. This also means that the snail cannot be positioned between the target of the boss and other party members's attack animation/projectile. If the run is a full house with warrior and other ranged attackers like NL, snail(s) can be spawned in the area demarcated by red circle and corsair can stand on the snail. "Miss" I-frame from snail touch will protect the character from all the magic attacks that can destroy the battleship. If the run is soloed by corsair or with other corsairs, snail(s) can be summoned in the Knock-back -preventable area marked by Black circle. In this case, I need test results but the idea is that even the 1 damage intake from the snail won't knock off the corsair from that groove due to battleship turbidity and ofc provide I-frame protection. [Waiting for test results] - Right eye If in a full house party, even a single snail can be summoned in the area marked with red circle. If soloing or with other corsairs, snail can be summoned in the area marked with Black circle. Zakum hypothesis Can't really think of any applications in Zakum. Usually, there are too many people in such a small map. It's inevitable for other party members to not attack the snails. If someone finds a way, it'll be happily added. Horntail Hypothesis - Prehead 1 and 2 Copyright of the image belongs to Yan. I grabbed a random one that showed the map layout from forum . I'm not entirely sure if the area marked with Red circle (very end corner) is out of prehead's contact vicinity. I have a faintest memory of seeing a NL stand there and attack. If the spot doesn't take direct hits from the prehead, this option might apply. If not, it should be discarded immediately. If the brandish hit box can reach this platform, this option will be discarded as well. ASSUMING THERE'S A SAFE SPOT Upon entry, a NL can Flash Jump quickly to the red circle area and spawn snails on the platform. Corsair, initially equipped with 0 stat flag rushes quickly to the platform and physically hit the snails before the prehead is fully summoned. Then return to the middle of the map and egg the prehead when it's fully summoned. Climb the ropes and recoil jump into the top right corner and get on the battle ship. HOPEFULLY, snails will protect you upon the landing touch. Rest is plain simple. Attack the prehead none stop from the safe spot. Time the alteration in the x-coordinate after 99 hits, right after the "miss" touch from snail. ASSUMING THERE IS NO SAFE SPOT This requires team effort because rest of the party members need to stay within the black rectangle area through out the stage or must not attack beyond the left boundary. Snails can be summoned in the Purple circle area and aggravated by corsair. No one else must attack the snail. Corsair may be able to hit the prehead none stop under the protection of I-frame in the purple circle. But yea.. if anyone else kept their att skills pressed after getting blown to the <-- wall, you are screwed. If anyone decides to look into your direction while attacking, you are also doomed. (Not really since new sacks can be opened) Same tactic for prehead 2, just a mirror image. - Body Ideal party layout was taken from the most common, average HT squad. 2NLs + 1 Corsair + 1 SE + 1 Warrior + 1 Bishop (total 6) This is how the proposed steps go (Enough) Snails are summoned on area 1 and 2. Corsair aggravates them with 0 stat maple flag then equips the Gun. Horntail is summoned (anyone can jump-attack the crystal without killing the snails on area 2). Leg and Tail are first killed like standard procedure. Party splits once the tail is dead. 2 NLs and SE goes to the platform above area 3, and focus on head A (alternate with B if wep cancel on A). Warrior goes to the usual right side platform just below the upper rope and attack head C, Wing and Right arm. Corsair goes to area 1 and focus on head C. If head C is on weapon cancel, change the focus to head B. If both B and C weapon cancel is synched, go down to area 2 and focus on wing. If the strength of the party is substantially balanced, head A will fall first and 2NLs + SE will move over to attack head C. Corsair now moves to area 3 and summons the snails. Then focus entirely on the wing. Since the wing was attacked by warrior for quite a while, it won't take long before the wing is down. Corsair now moves to area 4 and spawn a single snail on that platform and focus on C (alternating with B). This won't even require aggravation on the snail. Corsair stays at area 4 until both head B and C are down. Expected problems As one could already imagine, this hypothesis can only work if the avoidability of corsair with heart stopper is so high that snail will almost-never land a touch damage. I guess higher lvl corsairs, close to 200, would have an upper hand. If the snails turn out to be stronger than expected, this entire hypothesis will turn into a trash. Wyverns need to be wiped quickly by warriors and other party members WITHOUT killing the snails. If they fly up and overlap with the snail, RIP. If the bishop accidentally presses genesis, GG. If the other party members accidentally attack toward the snail, this is also GG. Avoid bossing with Drks who control their zerk hp with roar. I haven't really tried applying this on other bosses but I believe it can be applied with other end game bosses like Castellan Toad and shaolin for example. Nothing has been tested or confirmed yet! I made this thread as an experimental suggestion for the corsair player base out there. This is barely an original blueprint and more creative people are welcome to mention unforeseen problems or suggest ways to improve it. I need volunteers who can try them out. Please tag your friends if they are bored and main a corsair!
Well rip warriors. Perma double sed XD. On the other hand, this gives corsairs far more flavourful boss fights assuming this ever becomes feasible.
Spoiler Honestly this just seems like way too much effort with too much prep when dodging attacks isn't hard in the first place. Sair DPS is incredible even when dodging.
Inb4 blacklist starts going, fucking venin killed my snail decreasing my dps and started flaming LOL This will be indeed very flavourful
I love it. Bob is best! But... What if you run with a DK who has poor Berserk control and he roars? ...Bye Bob's babies Also, I believe the Avoidability formula works in such a way that you can never become 100% "un-hitable". I believe monsters always have 5% or so chance to hit you, no matter your Avoidability.
Ah shit... I should add "avoid bossing with Drk".... or only boss with Drks who are manly enough to control the zerk HP by touching the boss. I need statistical experiments for the rate of avoidability .

Sair's avoid is actually pretty trash in comparison to other classes (even archers) so you'd still get hit by the snails lol The reason is that Sairs only get 0.125 avoid per each dex point while other classes get 0.25 (except bucc who gets 1.5 for some reason) so a level 200 BM has like 150 more avoid than a lvl 200 sair (I tested it before)
Body Guard A +B lets go PS: New can you plz test how many hits you receive when standing on a lvl 1 snail (on boat) with/without heart stopper in 1 minute?
But....you can't sack in ht body iirc. You can in preheads though. The reason I know this is definitely not because I'm trying to DC people by sacking.
That sucks. I might have to cancel this plan or ask for allowance of monster sack usage in boss maps.
Here I thought making a 30k sair made me cool. Clearly, Sparky, an intellectual, is schooling us all. Take notes class, I sure am. D:<
