It's a reaction in anticipation of the potential for a shortage in the upcoming weeks/months until (if) an alternative way to attain comparable attack potions for a similar level of effort is released. Obviously it's not like the supply of them dried up overnight, but with far less people farming them the supply will dwindle away over time and ultimately the price of attack potions will reflect that. Personally, I'm all for this as I feel like making attack potions easily accessible isn't ideal for the long term. The game is more challenging without them, and for a server that struggles to provide end game content, any added challenge is beneficial (granted, this undoubtedly would have been better implemented from the start). Only being able to realistically afford/use them on the most challenging of bosses/runs would make it so that players have greater incentive to create larger parties, or require them to spend more time on the bosses, resulting in slower leveling, less drops attained, and ultimately a later end game.
