Hello, I was thinking of how the summon change (the one that pets cant loot anything) will affect this server. Basically my stance is like this ; staff can give any change to the server since its their server, some people who can embrace the change will continue playing while others just quit. So I was fine with the change but when I thought about the future of this server, I thought this change is not good. That's why I made this thread. Now let's think about effects of this summon change. As the first effect, the number of afk farmers will decrease, you can see this already happened because you can find voodoo maps easily now, and you can also see some people say they quit afk farming after the update on forum. Then the supply of farmable things will be smaller and their price will go up. For example stopper's price went up now. I'm assuming the stopper's price will keep going up considering how empty voodoo maps now. If stopper goes more expensive, some people will stop using stopper now. 1. So this change will make some things more expensive and will make the game harder. Imo, the game should not be harder especially when the game is already dying (in terms of population at least). Making a game just harder will lose people's motivation and 2. This will surely accelerate the decrease of population. And there is one more reason why the game shouldnt be just harder. If the game goes harder and harder, how people who joined later catch up with those who joined earlier? Those who joined before 2017 was able to sell infinite deputy stars and those who joined after the update cant gain mesos by this way. Now a similar thing is happening in afk farming by the latest update. This will lose new players' motivation. Now, let's see how people who try to farm things got affected. Legitmate afk farmers (those who summon every 3 min manually) : They have to pick up manually. This change made a lot of farmers to quit afk farming. Script summon botters : They just add the moving of picking up every 3 min. Imo catching these botters is harder now. For example, when I suspect someone is botting at a voodoo map, most of them are hugging the wall. So I think this guy is using a script that just keeps using summon skill( and feeding pet?). I think the biggest reason why those people didnt add the movement of walking was they had a chance to walk odd(Like, walking to the wall) and got caught by people who tried to find voodoo maps. Now walking the whole map is what legitmate players do. So, script botters that walk around will look like one of legitmate players and it's harder to distinguish. For example, it will be super hard to distinguish if a script botter uses this movement every 3 min ; use teleport to < 4 times without walking to go near left edge(so they wont walk to the wall), and walk to > for several seconds to pick up things, then when they are close to the right edge of the map, they will use teleport twice or once to go the center of map. I think this botter wont get suspected so he will only get banned when someone talks to everyone in voodoo maps. And now less people are farming so they have less chances to get caught. (Script) Hacker : No change, just less chance to get banned since less people farm. It's eazy to think that more hackers/botters will appear when something's price goes up. For example, gold tooth's price was 2.2m each before the update. It went to 3.4m each once. and somehow it's price is 2.2m each now again. It's pretty odd because all people who can afk-farm gold teeth (as far as I know 5 people can do this) are not selling gold teeth now. Some players I dont know are selling a lot of gold teeth(100-300 teeth or something like that) instead. Honestly I dont think normal people can farm a lot of gold teeth. This is because it takes about 8-10 hours to farm 300 gold teeth with 6 afk mules (which should be faster than using BS). So I think hackers are farming gold teeth already(I found 1 hacker in dead mine today). I wanted to believe they implemented this summon change because their auto ban system was finally made. But it didnt. Some are keep hacking the game without getting caught. So I feel like 3. this change is benefitting botters/hackers but harming ligitmate players. Those are cons that I worried. please leave comment if you think theres more. What about pros? Honestly all pros I came up is that those who dont have afk mules and dont use stoppers are happy because afk farmers' making mesos is harder. And as the other pros I think a GM said this change is good for the server in long term? I think this change is not good in long term considering the chance of increasing hackers/botters and decreasing the population. You can leave other pros if you come up. It's good thing to discuss. In my honest opinion, I should praise staff's try considering how lazy the original maplestory server was, but I dont think this change is so good by the reason 1, 2 and 3. So I think they should remove the change (at least till the auto ban system is ready).
So? The new price will be dictated by what people are willing to pay for them. This change was made intentionally to nerf afk farming. The problem with afk farming is that it's too much mesos for not really playing the game properly.
As you say the stopper price will reach equilibrium point that demand equals supply. The thing itself is not a problem, I'm even glad that stoppers are more expensive now since I dont buy stoppers but sometimes sell. What I worry about stopper is that people who cant afford inflated stoppers lose motivation and quit the game, and script botters that loot like a normal afk farmers (which is hard to ban). Yea it's good if they can just nerf afk farmers. The problem is they are giving benefits to hackers/script botters by this change. This change shouldve been done when auto ban system was ready. People dont know how contaminated the market is. For example, I've been watching gold teeth market since August. there were almost no suspicious person before the update, but after the update, the market is filled with hackers. At least 3 hackers are banned for gaining illegitmate gold teeth already. gold teeth was 2.2-2.3m each before the update but after the update it's price somehow went 2m each once dispite none of afk gold teeth farmers are selling them. For your information script hackers use all range hack and script so seemingly they get 100+m/hour without doing something. So if there are 10 hackers that run their bot 10 hours per day, that means 10B worth of illegitmate stuffs enter the market. Also, in their script, they include a system that they just dc when someone enters the map, so its hard to get the proof. So if you read this you know how wicked hackers are. So nerfing afk farming is fine but stopping hackers/botters should be prioritized
Botters and hackers are present from the Alpha to the Omega. This update only shifted their attention toward popular afk-farming spots now that the value and demand of drops in those maps are higher but even if this change wasn't implemented, they'd still be ruining the market somewhere else, farming other things. In other words, this update didn't produce "more" hacker/botters but the existing ones simply moved to afk-farming maps instead of shady, vacant, unvisited maps. Nerfs and buffs are made in order to adjust the balance of the game. Stopper price was higher before but changes were made that dropped its price. Now the price has slightly increased and just like when it was dropped, people should adapt to the new price or use weaker att pots in case they can't afford it. I feel that some people are too used to the comfort zone that they complain at every nerf without considering its effect on the durability of the server. If one is going to quit because of this little change, they would have quit over any other update that took away their convenience. I think royals should prioritize on catering for the dedicated player base, not those who demand the server to fit their personal expectation.
people just spread panic and make it worse then it is market will get normal with time the only thing that slows that normal market it's hackers and RWT'rs the thing now it's if someone want to go legit farm stoper,gold tooth...etc will get paid more fairly for efort without need of more clients [alt tab summon click] in other hand onyx price it's droping and interest of APQ it's big now i think it will stay same unless hackers and RWT'rs goes mad and ruin it what's so wrong with farming on 1-2client ? why need for extreme farming methods ? tc farming why? why allways the need of loophole exploit mentality
It is too hard to predict what the future of this server will be after update 58. The results later will prove the GMs themselves right or wrong. If it goes bad, they can always revert it back to normal. If it goes better than expected or no change in the long run, then the update is proven effective. I am a farmer but I've already accepted my fate. I believe it is not the strongest who will survive, but those who can adapt to changes best will.
In every game after any update, if there is any speculation of price increase or price fall, there will definitely be panic buying/selling after update. Which is why there is a huge increase in price of farming item. After people become more sensible it will drop back to normal price. No biggie And if price really does increase a lot, more people will also be motivated to farm. Clearly some people are just lazy and just want to ‘one button farming’ while ht or sell leech
Bringing more relevance to lower att pots with fewer stoppers in the server surely is nice :3 at least those +20 att pots from apq wont get tossed as much now
