I see no horntail guide in new source and new seduce target/bishops struggling in horntail so I decided to write some of my insights on how to seduce target/bishop in horntail based on past experiences. ***I do not main bishop but I have played as main seduce target, attacker and bishop in horntail so if there is something wrong in my insights, please correct it feel free to criticize it as well ***More edits will come if need be Seduce section What is Seduce Target? When you get seduced by horntail, you cannot use pots nor skills except “Hero Will” to escape it. The seduce is either left or right directions or is a jump. This is why a bishop is needed in the run because one of their major responsibilities is to heal the seduced target! How to determine who is Seduce Target? Usually the melee is the seduce target since they have the most base hp and defensive skills. These jobs include hero, dark knight, paladin, buccaneer or shadower. However, the shift in meta, I seen night lords as seduce targets due to higher hp from hp washing and shadow shifter. I think as long as your hp is enough to tank wings, you can be seduce targets. (but obviously the more hp the better). Most ideal hp for seduce target should be 20k but this can be lowered. ***Experienced seduce target can be 15k hp or lower (as long as you can tank wing damage (about 7-9k damage depending on job). Order of Entrance The order of entrance matters and that determines who is the main seduce target. Prehead 1- usually the bishop should sign up and enter first (bishop will be main seduce target on prehead1 because there is a rope (second rope to the right where they can hang) Prehead 2- the person who enters first is the main seduce target then the entrance order should be accordance to hp (whoever has the 2nd highest hp) ***The bowmaster/marksman should always be the 5th person to enter and the last person should be bishop. If the main seduce target dies and leaves the map then now the target will go to the second person that entered the map. Same thing if the second person dies and leaves the map, it goes to the third person that entered the map. Main body- same as prehead2 entrance order Entrance order usually goes 1. Melee 2. Range/Melee 3. Range/Melee 4. Range/Melee 5. Sharpeyes 6. Bishop How to be a good Seduce Target? You will notice you have marionette strings above your character head when being seduced. Is a good thing that the seduce target gets a stopwatch! Prehead 1- initial 2mins then 3 mins interval (seduce timers) Prehead 2- - initial 2mins then 3 mins interval (seduce timers) Main Body - initial 2mins then 3 mins interval (seduce timers) When your seduce comes, you should call out "S" and hang on the rope and this would make bishop life easier As you get more experienced you will know that there are two seduce timers (one on left arm and one on right arm). If everyone stays on one side, it only triggers one arm seduce timer. If someone accidentally cross the midline of horntail, it will trigger the other arm to seduce which results in double seduce. Good seduce targets clear wyverns that spawn from horntail heads! The spawn animation is a yellowish orange circle on the head (depending on the bishop hp, skill level, magic attack, the bishop can clear but usually you would want to protect the bishop as much as possible). Animation for seduce is a purpleish middle finger pointing from the arm. Moreover, if the bishop dies, a good seduce target will use cornians to protect themselves since it can prevent 1/1 from the three heads. Also, it might be a good idea to tell attackers to down wings first because it hits pretty hard... if you get seduced and cornians missed, wings can kill you. Each head spawns 3 different colours of wyverns and there is 6 of each usually-> it goes red wyverns, blue wyverns then black wyverns. Bishop Section Requirements for Bishop? · 2k hp+ · Make sure your HP is enough to tank the dark wyverns without magic guard since dark wyverns will dispel · Have maxed resurrection and hero will · Bring 3000 Ginger Ales · Put magic guard and dispel on a comfortable key · Have all cure potions (100) in case of any emergency · Wear HP gears for better survival if your hp is under 2.6k hp · Have max holy shield (most ideal) How to be good bishop? · Get a stopwatch for seduce timer · Keep track of dispel timers · Learn the animations from horntail · Take care of your seduce target · Holy Symbol whenever needed · Holy Shield whenever needed · Dispel whenever needed · Heal and follow seduce target when needed Bishop in HT! If you are confused of why bishop is seduce first or confused about seduce timers, refer back up to the Order of Entrance and “How to be a good Seduce Target” section ***In preheads and main body when you see dark wyverns hold down magic guard or tap magic guard (whatever works for you) ***Take notice of dispel timers (mentioned below) Prehead 1 - There is not too much to do in this head except being on the rope (second rope to the right) but do not afk because wyverns might knock you down from the rope and get hit or seduce into head and die. If you get seduced as a bishop towards the head, you should immediately use the skill “Hero’s will” to escape. You should take notice of the dark wyverns after 50% hp of the prehead. Prehead 2 – this stage is pretty chill, just take notice of the seduce target and heal but watch out for dark wyverns (these will dispel you). You should take notice of the dark wyverns after 50% hp of the prehead. Mainbody- Responsibility is to keep the seduce target alive also to holy symbol when body parts are about to die. When each head is about to die (it should spawn around 6 waves of dark wyverns). In addition, use dispel and holy shield whenever is appropriate (you will use more of these on the right side since right arm curses). What does bishop need to know in the main body? · When your seduce target get seduced into the right side while tail legs/tail is up, do not teleport and heal because you will die as well (Tail hits more than 30k Hp unless you are warrior with achilles or shadower with mesos guard) - If Head A is still up and Head B or left Arm dispels, bishop might die since Head A have an ice strike that hits 5k hp+ -A good way a bishop can protect themselves is to use the cornians because they hit faster than the dispel hence less damage taken or if you are able to tank the rocks on the wall · Head B has two separate dispels timers, first timer will be triggered at about 60% hp (about 4 waves of blue wyverns) and second timer will triggered at about 30% hp (about 3 waves of dark wyverns). The first timer is five minutes interval and the second timer is three minutes interval. However whenever you see blue wyverns and dark wyverns spawning from Head B just take notice of your magic guard. Dispel animation on Head B (open mouths and you can see its teeths and there is also a sound to it as well). · Left Arm has two warnings. After the first warning (about 60%), if you keep hitting it, it will cause mass dispels. As for the second warning (about 30%), if the party keep hitting, it will cause mass seduce. Animation for mass dispel on the arm is a yellowish glow. · Right Arm has one warning (about 30%), if the party keeps hitting after the first warning, it will cause mass seduce. · Animation for seduce is a purpleish middle finger pointing from the arm. · Animation for spawn is a yellowish orange circle from the heads. · Each head spawns 3 different colours of wyverns and there are 6 of each usually-> it goes red wyverns, blue wyverns then black wyverns. · When all parts are dead, the team should go kill right arm first because left arm can dispels and kill the bishop. If mass seduce and dispel happens (towards the left arms), bishop should use heros will. · After the right arm is dead, you can sit on a chair or be on a rope (right side) to avoid being seduced.
Adding a mini guide of bishop to my favourite sed, alex's guide! MAP -Make full use of the map, starting with making the seduce PARTY LEADER! The star above the player will show, when the seduced player is moving in a weird manner, be sure to heal him! This helps greatly in your map awarness! -With the map awarness, when noticing a player move across middle, which will cause an second seduce, be ready to heal! And inform your seduce to will if he is out of reach of healing, eg. his on the highest platform while you are at the bottom! TEAM HP BAR UI - Make sure this UI is turned on! Not just your seduce player HP will drop, Notice your BM especially, when they are using hurricane, they might tend to have their pet pot bugged, and the pet not healing them, causing death and making use of your revive. -Even whenever you see a night lord/Attacker class is at a suprisingly low hp, do an favour and Heal them up! HT MAIN BODY - GFX when HP BAR IS OUT!! Dont forget this! Having a DC-ed! bishop risk the run's failure greatly, and without HS for the rest of the run Is truly demoralising! - Learn the basic animations found in this wonderful guide through backup bishop practice! It will help alot in the gameplay, and not causing any silly mistakes! On Update 54, the skill of Bishop's holy shield just got buffed, when that skill is active, players cannot be stunned! This buff makes this skill so much more stronger then it ever was. When entering main Body, while killing the legs, bishop tends to get stunned while seduce is happening. By using this skill now 5seconds before seduce will help alot! WHEN SEDUCED! -A experienced Seduce player will call out "S" or even hang on rope! This makes a bishop job wayy easier! Just several thing a bishop should look out for! When Seduce, beware of Spell Lock, make sure ur dispel button is at a very comfortable button to refrain your seduced from death! BEWARE OF DISPEL from either wyvern or horntail itself, so multi task, notice the HP Of the Seduced and The Magic Guard on your character! Press magic guard + Potion immediately when you get dispelled! Killing Wyverns Able to kill wyverns require decent fundings into your bishop, with required amount of HP to tank The wyverns when dispelled as well. 1 Hitting Darks which is the end game goal of your magic is a grand total of 1591, Which can be helped to be achieved with , ECHO, MW20, yellow cider or Swiss Cheese(+220 Magic) Spawns wyvern will start after the head takes some damage, animation is as described in the guide is a yellow circle from the head! Whenever this happens, teleport near the middle, ( not directly below which will cause sed to happen.) Activate Bahamut, Bahamut will instantly hit all the wyverns and pull the aggro towards you, and hit genesis immediately! Killing all spawns perfectly. If the bishop is well trained with telecasting, using telecast and gene from the middle will prevent knockbacks and maybe gain style points too! This telecasting is extremely useful while killing the wyverns and seduce happens. Telecast Genesis back immediately towards your sed and heal him! MASS SEDUCE This is a problem that usually wipes the HT run, this will only occur when the arm reaches 30% HP, (2nd notice = HP is at 40%) To tackle mass sed, hero's will is required, Step1) -When ressurection is up, mass seduce happens, allow all players to move along, and hit WILL IMMEDIATELY When DISPEL HAPPENS! Only when Dispel happens. The team's NL with average of 11k HP usually will be able to survive the damage on mass seduce, but when the BMs Dies, after seduce ressurect immediately. And continue rushing down the particular arm that is under 30%. Step2) -When ressurection is used and on Cool Down, Use Hero's Will immediately When teams HP is under 30%. Spam heal and ensure all damage dealers survives. Step3) -When ressurection and Will are on Cooldown. Have the Entire team other then the bishop to use hero's will, probably sacrificing the bishop, but continue to down the seducing arm. Surviving MASS DISPEL Many players suggest spamming Magic Guard, but thats not how it works, spamming Magic Guard to quickly especially with marco tends to make pet autopot fail, and causing your death. The pattern i always use is MG+ Potion, MG+ Potion. If a unwashed bishop is unconfident in HT runs, Start with HEAD A instead of C, which is the safer route! Mass dispel timing are more Odd nowadays, but with sufficient training, Surviving HT turns really easy! Washing a Bishop is not compulsory at all, but practice is! Hope this Helps out!
Extra tips for bishops out there! Try to cast your buffs on a rope because casting it on ground will render you immobile for few seconds. Bless is absolutely garbage and overrides stopper/amorian basket's avoid buff. Remove it from your macro. If you get dispelled, cast MG and eat potions; not just MG spamming!
While this seems like a nice guide for newer bishops, there are a few things id add for anyone who regularly plays bishop at horntail, or who wants to be as good as they can be. A big recommendation from me is to wash to ~5.5k hp and 20k+ mp. This not only reduces potion usage significantly, but more importantly, allows you to do a lot more without the constant fear of being 1 hit after getting dispelled. Being able to tank a hit from horntail without magic guard opens up the ability to safely gene wyverns while heads dispel, and more importantly gene dark wyverns. For both preheads and main body, geneing wyverns helps a lot, as it prevents the attackers from being dispelled and having to spend time rebuffing, and it prevents attackers from having to spend time attacking wyverns, or in a worse case getting swarmed with wyverns to the point where they cant attack at all. Washing to 5k hp and 20k mp also comes with the added bonus of being able to tank tail (with invincible), meaning you'd be able to heal the seduce target 100%. Some people are probably gonna argue that washing a bishop is stupid and/or a waste of meso, but that would honestly be like me using warrior elixirs at horntail on my night lord because stoppers and apples are a waste of mesos, point being that your character and class is unable to function to its full extent, subsequently due to not investing enough to have a fully functional character. Additionally, even though I'm probably alone about this, I'd say a good bishop should gene main body for damage as well. Most bishops spend a lot of time at horntail doing nothing, time that could easily have been spent dealing decent damage to horntail. Sure, gene damage isn't amazing, but its certainly not bad when 4-6 parts are up and does reduce run time by a noticeable amount. Even if its just 5% extra damage relative to the rest of the party, that's still the equivalent to having echo, and you wouldn't just not use echo, would you? Just my thoughts as a bishop player
Also, should add in a tip for seds without bishops (in case your bs dies) , remind ur pt members to keep cornians alive so u can touch them right before & during sed to avoid getting damaged by 1/1 attacks. And if u are able to time ur seds accurately, u can hang on the rope right before sed so ur bs will have an easier time healing u instead of chasing after u down the map. Good guide!
5.5k isn't enough if the wing+head A are alive, it can buff the ice strike damage to like 6700 or more. If head A is dead you'd only get hit about 3.3-3.4k max (from head b buffed with wing) and if both A and the wing are dead you'd only get hit like 2.5k or so
You can use cornians or wyverns to protect yourself if you have to. Also, I seen bishop go under the dropping rocks on the left side to protect themselves providing that they can tank atleast one hit from the rocks
The 5.5k isn't meant to be a "you'll be perfectly safe with this" kinda number. It's just a very safe number because I remember getting hit with 5.4k damage very often. Obviously, you'd want 30k HP, but this is the first big "safer" number overall for when MG gets dispelled.
Royals has become a hp washing server but that takes away the excitement of playing bishop in HT. However, I don't disagree in washing the bishop if your having absolute trouble in surviving or maining a bishop or plan to HT frequently.
Who would've thought the same guy who wrote this full-fledged SED guide, hid his sed mule a few days ago behind the Crystal NPC in 1st prehead and was last to enter the next map " hehe xd my bad "
