Character 2 - IGN: Fantome Character 3 - IGN: Gromit Problem: Random Crash to Desktop when trying to play second or third character. First character IGN: Erazmus plays OK. Error code: -2147287038 (Unknown error 0x80030002) Created a new character in the second slot 2 nights ago and it crashes to the desktop at random. Tried closing all windows and apps, restarting PC, same thing. Deleted and re-made character, same problem. Tried making a third character tonight, thinking there might be something wrong with the second character, but the third character crashes to desktop the same way. Haven't been to the Cash Shop on either of these characters yet, hardly anything in their inventories. No particular action seems to trigger it, it just crashes at random. Important- Playing on the first character works fine, so the client is OK, administrative rights are OK, screen resolution is OK. It's just when trying to play any of the other two characters that it crashes. I've searched for the error code in the forums, but most of the posts about that code appear to be related to logging in at all. I can log in, but just on the first character.
Last night I was able to play for about 10 minutes on Character #2 and then CTD again. Relogged in on Character #1 and was able to play for several hours. No idea why it's any different on different characters.
As mentioned, I've tried deleting the second character and re-making it with no change, and starting a third character which has the same problem as the second. Beyond that I can't think of anything related to my local computer that would affect one character but not another on the same account using the same client program and computer. As soon as the second character CTD's I can immediately restart the client, log into the first character and play for hours. It's only characters #2 and #3 that have the problem.
I'll give that a try... I hadn't thought that would be the source of the problem since the game plays fine on one character, but I guess anything's worth trying.
Good news! I reinstalled the latest version of the client and that seems to have fixed the problem. I was able to play on both the second and third characters with no problem. Thanks for the insight and help..!
