Competition: Design our new forum avatars!



Although Xenforo's set of default user avatars are simple, subtle and fit nicely in with the very pale forum theme, I think it's fair to say that our artistically talented Royallers could design something a little more stylish, colourful and eye-catching.

So, are you up for the challenge? If so, these are the competition rules and prizes:


Prizes:

• First place: 30 RP and 30k NX
• Second place: 20 RP and 20k NX
• Third place: 10 RP and 10k NX

Rules:

• You will design a set of 3 Avatars - one for male players, one for female players and one for those who haven't specified their gender. It should be clear at a glance which Avatar is which. Do feel free to make use of the male and female symbols and the question mark in your design, if you wish.
• Only one submission per person will be accepted for judging. If you submit more than one set of avatars, you will need to choose which set you wish to enter into the competition.
  
• All submissions should be in png format.
• The minimum size for submissions is 200 x 200 pixels; the maximum size is 300 x 300 pixels. All the avatars in your set should be the same size as each other and should look good at 200 x 200 pixels.
• Your avatars should be of equal height and width - ie square.
• The work you submit should be your own - don't steal someone else's avatars and claim them as your own work.
• Please do NOT submit any inappropriate content - porn, stomach-churning nasties, bigoted, hateful or politically charged content will not be accepted.
• The deadline for this competition is Friday 31st October at midnight server time. This post will be locked at that point and no further submissions allowed.

Hmmm i might do one as well. Why i say might is because i havent done anything like this in a long time and if it turns out really bad ill be too embarrassed to put it up lol

Surprisingly this is in fact a maplestory pet.
Added the dress to each frame for the female one, tried to make it as maple-esque as possible just so it wouldn't look out of place.

 

I'd much rather switch out my current no-gender for this just because it displays less suggestive actions leading someone to believe it is a specific gender. Unfortunately there's no edit button so I have to double post.
Considering toning down the size of the female avatar but I'll save that for another day.

Wellllllll.... here's my submission. lol

 

Sven is obviously going to win. Now I'm just waiting for @hastaelfinal to make a poll about it.

 

These aren't Maply and are just something I threw together in an outdated version of Photoshop, but the idea behind them was to encourage people to experiment with colours, patterns, textures and gradients. Flat self-coloured backgrounds are fine too, but they can be gradiented, patterned, a picture or even rainbow colours if you wish. Also, the no-gender-specified avatar can be grey, but doesn't need to be. This isn't particularly intended as a submission, but at the same time, I don't mind if it's used as one. I know art is not my forte!

 

As a designer I highly discourage the use of gradients, patterns and emboss effects (it is not 2002). No offense Kat

Personally, I am not a fan of the modern visual trends in web design - for example, the default (not MapleRoyals) style for this forum. Each to their own.
