    Hello Royallers,

It's come to our attention that many people aren't up to date with the game rules in terms of using (third party) hard- and software benefits.
    To clarify:

You're allowed to rebind keys in a 1:1 action matter with third party software as there is no direct benefit in doing that over using the default keys. We also allow the use of controllers and remapping software for example, as long as the player can reply while playing to not be mistaken for a bot.
Only when one action registers multiple outputs will there be a violation of the T&C; for example, one scroll (finger movement) of the mouse wheel registering multiple clicks is not ok. This would grant players an unfair advantage since it is no longer a 1:1 action and not every player has access to this hard- and software benefit.
Many players seem to have mistaken that the use of Windows mouse keys and all of its functions is allowed. While for the majority this is true as remapping mouse clicks to a 1:1 action is acceptable, features such as the famed double-click '+' num pad key is not a 1:1 action but a 1:2 action (a single press of this key performs a double click in game) and is not allowed.

    Example of in-game use cases:
    • Rebinding multiple actions like Genesis/Blizzard/Meteor + teleport (+ arrowkey) to one key is not allowed
    • Using a double-click function that requires one key press like '+' in Windows mouse keys (for meso dropping for example) is not allowed

Performing multiple game actions while having them bound to one key outside of the in-game skill macro system is considered using a macro and violates:

    1. Game Hacking - The act of using or benefiting from any third-party program, macro program or otherwise defacing or modifying any part of the game software to gain any sort of advantage over other players, or otherwise selling, advertising, distributing or posting information related to the act.Punishment: Permanent ban.

We understand many people were misinformed by various forum threads and guides from players about what's ok to use and what's not therefore we decided to unban the people that we've banned for this particular oversight.

To that we would also like to add that people caught using macroing techniques that rebind multiple keys to one (outside of the in-game macro skill) but are actively playing (thus not botting) will get a 14-day ban for their first offense instead of a permanent one from here on out as we update our T&C to reflect that.

Any comments regarding this statement can be posted in the feedback subforum.

    Happy Mapling!

Playing MapleRoyals requires continued player interaction and input.
This is, and always has been the case. Naturally that also applies to multi client setups like (but not exclusively to) mage farms.

Taken from the game rules appendix for robotic play: 'leaving weights on your keyboard, or any other method which allows your character to function without your presence or interaction will be considered grounds for consequences under this rule.'

    As a player you may:
    - Hold down any single key to repeatedly do any skill, in game macro or activity including moving in any direction within your active game client.

    - Rebind actions that take place outside of the game client (e.g. switching between game clients) to one key, most famously having alt + esc bound to one key as long as either of those keys don't also perform an in game action for you (e.g. your alt or esc don't perform a skill in game).
    - Switch game clients by manually inputting your key or key combination that switches between your game clients (alt + esc) for every client switch you want to perform (click and release)
Understanding how to view the image:
    1 - starting position
2- the action is introduced (e.g. a second button is pressed)
3- shows continuation of that action
4- shows continuation of that action
The green highlight on one of the four game clients represents the current active client

    - Adjust your Auto Repeat settings for keys that already perform a repeated action in the game e.g. looting more efficiently. You may not create a new repeated action that originally wasn't a repeated action on key press.
    For example:
    - You may not register your left mouse button click as a repeated click for as long as you hold that button down.
    - You may not register your mouse scroll wheel as repeated clicks / input for doing one action on it (scrolling it once).

As a player you may not:
    - Hold down an additional key or keys from a secondary input source (physical or software) that produces infinite game client switches alongside holding down a key to cast any skill, in game macro or activity.

    - Send inputs to multiple clients at the same time.
    - Bind your client switch shortcut (alt + esc) and skill or in game macro all to one key to hold down.
    - Construct any other method where the combination of your client switching and skill, in game macro or activity usage circumvents continuous game inputs by holding down input(s)
    - Circumvent inputs by changing accessibility settings e.g. Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse in the Windows ease of access center.

    Why not?
In Staffs opinion the 20+ year old mushroom game is not meant to be 'played' by holding down key(s) and having multiple clients do infinite or up to 100 attack limit actions without any further interaction from the player. This type of gameplay is considered robotic and cannot be distinguished from other types of robotic play so we won't allow it. If you choose to multi client to play the game, we will require you to do many repeated manual inputs to switch between your game clients to take advantage of this style of gameplay.

We understand this may be confusing for some of you and we want to answer your questions and listen to your feedback in this newly created feedback thread on this topic.

    Regarding gameplay enhancement in general:
We've shown leniency to players exploring the boundaries of inputs and multi clienting advantages in the past when you involve staff in your experiments and thought process, (often leading to warnings instead) and we want to continue doing so.
We understand players want to explore the limits of what they can and can't do to enhance their gameplay, or just for the love of the experiment, but if you're planning or testing methods please involve Staff so we can inform you if your methods are rule breaking or not so you don't end up getting banned.
