Closed Banned for using simple macro to help with SCI

Hello fellow maplers and GMs,

I use a simple macro that enables me to hold my lucky seven button since spamming it all the time hurts my fingers...

I have a spinal cord injury that does not allow full use of my fingers and they fatigue quickly.

I know other games like destiny allow macros, and I use them all the time to help me compete at similar levels with my able-bodied friends. So i didn't bother reading the rules... I guess it is my mistake in the end but i was wondering if any GM could help

By using scripts, you're already competing unfairly. From what I observed, you were also not present in front of your computer as I called out to you for more than 4 minutes.

It's unfortunate but we don't give exceptions to anyone in order to be fair. There's also a reason why the game will alert you after awhile if you've played for too long. You should have taken breaks instead of relying on scripts.

It's fine to AFK overnight in FM to sell your stuffs.
Well, the 7 days apply to robotic play (i.e. placing a heavy object on a single key, resulting in a single skill being spammed). For your case, it falls under macro botting where you utilized a script to control your character's movement at a specified interval.

 

But thats precisely what my macro was, simply holing down z button. I didnt mess with the source code or anything extreme of that nature

 

It wasn't just holding down the Z button. You were throwing stars, jumping left and right, and repeating that same sequence of action.

 

That was me physically resetting the character tho. My lucky seven is my z button.

I mean mapleroyals has helped me go through difficult times is my life. It allowed me to immerse myself in a worlds in which i could forget about my disability (if even temporarily).

It was an honest mistake. If you guys could change it tto a temporary ban, I would be extremely grateful.
If not, I understand. alls well that ends well. I guess was wasting too much time on maple. GGs

Well I am replying anyways out of love for this game and desperation,

Yes, i was using a macro. Obviously. I was honest about that from the beginning. I am not afraid to admit my mistakes. I can say that i am man enough to at least do that.

I understand this is a private server with its own rules. There are a few things i would like to point out, in hopes of dissuading a permaban:

1) My macro was simple:

All it did was press the z key and release. The equivalent of using a rock to hold down the button, which according to YOUR rules, is only a 7 day ban for first offense.

2) My macro was not game intrusive:
Meaning, my macro inputs from my keyboard, to the game. It is not me bypassing the keyboard by messing with the the games source code. This also means i have to reinitialize my "macro" by pressing a button, every 10 minutes or so. And i cannot click out of mapleroyals window, or else the macro doesn't work. This requires me to be IN FRONT of my computer every TEN MINUTES and pressing a button. Is that really enough time for my macro to be considered as botting?

3) less button presses= less pain for my hands:
My hands pain me constantly and i dont have full ability in them. I understand if you want to use the "treat everybody as equal" thing here but you just. simply. cant. when your disabled. You have a literal disadvantage. I use my hands. for. literally. everything. for walking. for eating. for taking a damn piss. By pressing z fewer times, i can preserve my hands for when i grow a old and miserable ass. It also allows me to eat while i maple, which im sure that is something everyone does on a constant basis. That 10 minutes I dont have to press a damn button, i can eat, send a text, answer phone calls etc

4)I was doing it for less pain, not more exp
Is newties isnt even optimal xp. If i was gonna bot wouldnt you think i would do it somewhere with better mobs? it just makes no sense...

I can honestly keep going on and on about why I think a permaban is too strict. If you guys dont believe me, then so be it. I was honest from the beginning, and have proven everything ive said. All i want is to not be perma'd

After seeing what you've said in the shoutbox, I believe the ban is really justified. We understand that you might have some medical conditions which you don't feel comfortable in revealing, but we can't also act as if we didn't see you change your story multiple times.

Like I said, we have to be impartial to everyone, whether or not you have any physical conditions. It's okay if you have some disadvantages over the other normal players, because no one is forcing you to reach 200 so quickly, or get the best items possible. You should have played according to how comfortable your hands are -- if it's getting tired, then take a break. The game is not a marathon, it's for you to enjoy and relax; explore at your own time, so I don't really see the reason why you have to engage in scripted programs.

I hope you understand where we're coming from, and why we had to ban you for it (like we do for all others who used macro scripts). We wish you all the best and hope your condition improves.
