Sup yall, I'm gonna play on this server for the first time today and I'd like advices on my first character. I've always been a thief fan as a kid, but I'm open to any class now.
Dark Knight, cheap start off character, which can develop into a incredibly strong endgame attacker. Fun to play, hard to master. Can get to 30k HP by lvl 135 / 155 for a very low amount of mesos ( compared to other classes ) I'd only make a Bishop or Mage in general if you enjoy selling leech or would like to play these character classes as main for a foreseeable future.
People basically recommend bishop because it allows you to fund future characters, particularly more expensive classes (ranged due to hp washing). Bishops can kill alot of mobs very easily with genesis and have holy symbol, which lets you sell leech. Bishops also have a summon (bahamut) which can be used to afk farm things like heart stoppers (only mages and archers have summons for this). And bishops require 0 funding to do any of this. If you don't make a bishop, your options to make money will be mostly apq and cwkpq, perhaps with side income from selling zak helms and such. Fumino recommended a dark knight because they are naturally tanky, and require none or very minimal hp washing to boss. For example, people generally recommend against making night lords, sairs, or archers first due to the hp washing requirements to boss. Note that hb can offset this, as well as recent additions to the game (dojo belts, ergoth's bane, base hp quest, and reactors), so the need for washing has presumably decreased a bit. More information on hp washing can be found here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/fully-revised-hp-washing-guide.8286/
It all depends on what your goals are in this server. I personally started with an arch mage and had loads of fun. Never sold leech to make money, just other means. If you want to be a thief I would suggest a bandit, as you require little to no HP washing due to Mesos Guard and weapons are easier to come by than sins. Also the recent buffs for them can be a little intriguing. Side advice as well, learn the godly system placed for equips. Equips, even low level ones, may look like trash, but with the proper stats, are valuable. Godly system for equips: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/godly-items-explained.1312/
No, the change was that pets don't loot items from mobs killed by summons now so you have to walk and pick the items up yourself (update 58 I think?). But yeah, cc through voodoos and you should see a decent amount of people farming.
I would suggest to just play whatever you enjoy the most, you can get funded later on and it's not that big of a deal in my opinion. As a suggestion for a new player who just starts out, and assuming your goal is to get funded and join parties easily - be a Bishop, Dark Knight or a Bowman. Having a party buff that is useful almost always puts you at an advantage, especially when joining parties. These 3 classes I mentioned have a useful party buff, except you gotta reach 4th as a bowman and reach about level 130 for a maxed SE, the others get their party buffs much earlier. But if all you care about is playing what you enjoy the most, then play whatever you want. Even a Paladin, Buccaneer, or whatever. If you enjoy what you're playing, that's all that matters. This is a video game.
