    Hello,

I'm quite sure that this has definitely been brought up before, but I do feel like its important to bring the issue up as long as the rules are what they are.

And please do note, that I am not blaming the GMs or Admins for doing anything bad or wrong. You guys are simply just applying the rules as they currently stand.

    But here is my feedback:

Considering the fact that Maplestory is a game played by nostalgia-seeking asshats like myself, would it not be a bit more beneficial, for the sake of the community's continuous survival, to give people second chances in ban appeals? I'm not saying you should give a second chance to major RWTers or vote abusers, but maybe give a bit of leeway to people who have for ex. gotten leeched by a hacker for a level or to people who have casually solicited RWT.

This would allow for more people to play the game, assuming that they would correct their behaviour after receiving the first ban and seeing how strictly the rules are applied.

I get that this at least some more work for the GMs, since not all of the offenders would stop offending, but I would argue that most would stop doing X, if there was a looming chance of a permaban on top of their heads.

You might say that people should read the rules, but lets be real, its not like most people who are starting the game out actually a) visit the forums to see how the rules are applied b) actually read the rules. People actually usually read the rules for the first time after they've gotten banned, which is a fact you are propably way more familiar with than I am.

Of course people should be reading the rules & not break them, but if you know that the situation is what it is, why not give people second chances in the milder cases? There is no better way to lose a player than banning them for joking about RWT in-game when they're level 47 and broke.

    So there was my feedback.
    Hopefully it'll achieve something.

    Cheers.

Honestly, the only things I dislike about the ban appeal system is guilty until you prove yourself innocent, the withholding of evidence on the GMs side, and the absolute adherence to the punishments (I'll explain). I get why they go with guilty until proven innocent as it's easier to manage, but it still leads to very questionable perma bans where someone cannot reasonably be expected produce evidence to counter their accusation, it almost feels like "Welp, you should have been taking screen shots and recording if you wanted to be safe". The withholding of evidence I get, it protects both GM secrets on how they get the evidence, as well as people who report, but at a point it leaves a bad taste to see. I don't quite remember the ban appeal where this happened, but someone was perma banned after not knowing what evidence they needed to present to counter the evidence against them, because it wouldn't be told to them beyond a vague "We know you did X". For the final point, I do think the rules in some regards are way too harsh, and context should matter in ban appeals, I'm aware it wasn't the full reason he was banned, but a guy maybe a month ago was banned (later found other stuff he did in ban appeal) for saying "B>Leech paying cash", followed by at least 30 smegas saying he didn't mean it like that and meant in mesos, and asking for GMs to contact him so he can clarify and such. Even without the other things being found about him though, he would probably have been perma banned for that, and that just doesn't seem fair to me.

All in all, while it is most definitely better than not having ban appeals at all, or having them take months to get replies, the ban appeals are set up in a way that sort of promotes a witch-hunt pile on the people making the appeals(how often do people in chat box laugh at people making ban appeals? I know I'm guilty of that), and assuming their guilt from the outset along with the total lack of transparency really hurts the credibility of the system.

I understand your concern of many players being perma-ban for partying with hackers or joked about RWT. But we would need to draw the line of what's okay to not ban (or maybe temp ban) and what cases are okay to perma-ban

    1) gotten leeched by a hacker for a level - I assume this means partying with a hacker, I don't think players can really find their way out of this since most hacks are obvious such as vaccum or AOE to hit entire map.

If a player really didn't notice and somehow leech for a level, he probably was afking? I really doubt that would happen since the purpose of hacking is to gain level as soon as possible, why would a hacker party someone else to gain lesser exp? (They usually party others only for Holy Symbol)

    2) people who have casually solicited RWT - For this part, we would need to define what's considered as casually soliciting RWT as a joke.

Example, alliance mates are comparing attack range and a guy suddenly commented "I gonna be top range in guild once I buy a perfect Sky Ski for $120 USD" - is the perma-ban for his RWT joke justifiable?

To me is yes since the offer was very realistic, I won't take it seriously if he said 1.2 or 12 million USD

Please do give me an example of 'casually solicited RWT' if my example is not appropriate

I don't think it's fair to spread rumors of GMs believing in death penalty and not showing the quotes #FakeNews

I do believe in death penalty though

Thats why the servers are well maintained untill today :) your feedback bro, its worthless. Just stick with the TnC if you want to enjoy a more healthy gaming server comparing to others out there with corruptions, or 100-200 players logged per day.

Did you check the post? My man @jkmnnnn constructed a meticulous, infallible arugment. The GMs belief on the death penalty is then a self evident truth when held up to the Royals 2D sun light #amen 0:)

I think one reason for not being nuanced with bans is that it is very hard if not impossible for us currently to decide if someone was leeching from a hacker 1-150 or just 5minutes at 150, if they were aware of getting leeched by a hacker or not, if a rwt joke is actually just a joke or if it was a serious offer disguised as a joke just to name some common issues. So as long as we are not able to differentiate stuff like this there's no way we can have a nuanced banning system that would be fair.

I can see how this is very true.

I guess I'd just prefer if in some of the borderline -cases, there could be some leeway. I can understand how that could raise a number of other issues, like accusations of corruption & helping personal friends etc. I guess I'd see that as a lesser evil. Of course, I wouldn't be a the receiving end of that critique, so its easy for me to say.

    1) yes, I meant partying with a hacker.

    2) Something along the lines of smegaing "B>fame for 100$/fame" or "T> my whole personal fortune of dollaridoos for some epic ass gear". So something that is over the top, like you figured.

In my opinion temp-bans should me more common.
Like a guy who got perm-ban because of saying in BL that it’s he’s brother and not him just to ignore a person.
Well we lose some players from that, I’m not saying that hackers and RWTers should stay and play just to increase the online amount,
But kind of a little mercy should be involved in some cases. Of course I’m not the guy to judge the cases,
But in the bottom line it’s seems like perm-bans is more easier and simple option to deal with people, by the GMs eyes.
