I agree with this. the limit timer should buff from 30min -> 45min or 1hour. the reason no one kills it is because 30minute is very short + cancel weapon attack many times. it is actually impossible for people to kill it. you will need to have high dmg + crash skills. the main reason is because the boss gives 0 exp. only 2 helmet. Because it is very hard to kill it, it forces to people go kill it with a party of 3-4-5 or even 6.but people feel pointless doing it because it only drop 2 helmet, 2 helmet share between 4 attackers? maybe 1 person get 250 nx, sometimes 5k nx. so basically 2 people get helmet and rest get nothing. I suggest the scarlion should change to 45min time limit (maybe longer time limit, can test it out first) and gives similar experience as 1 Big foot. these change i believe will be a great start for people to start killing scarlion daily. (not too hard, not too easy) i know a lot of new players at lvl 135-150 want to kill it, but its too hard for them right now
this is very true. everyone told me it is not worth it to use 30minute stopper/apple to take down scarlion. (which is required because it is very hard to kill)

why would increasing exp on scarlion hurt zakum runs? zakum helmet drops 2-5 helmets and gen20. people kill zakum for more helmet drops and for the mesos. although i believe too much exp on scarlion will ruin zakum. I suggest killing scarlion = the same exp as 1 big foot is perfect. if 4 players go kill scarlion , at least the 2 people who get nothing will have accomplishment for getting a little exp like 5% for a level 135, it encourages more people to kill it.
ermmm, i dont get u, or all the ppl who uses the word "easy" so fast.....why if someone ask to make something better, someone else appears and say "hey dont touch anything, game is already too easy.... this kinda threads is always "Pragmatics vs Romantics" Theres 2 facts about this thread and in generall about this game: 1.-This game is bad designed (thats why new designers hired for nx do BB instead of balancing it, like when ure making some food , spoiled it and preffer to start over instead of trying to fix it even though they ruined it even more) Ask for some balance between jobs and skills shows there are players who love pre bb maplestory(enough to spend hours in a private server of it) without being fanatized and can see wahts right and whats wrong, and ask to change whats wrong with it... 2.- about this trhead in particular is a FACT that nobody does something here(or everywhere else) if is not rewarding, and scarga IS NOT, thats why nobody does it, because it does not compensate the effort of doing it, in gms back in the days when scarga was released, wasnt so popular either, but, with more than a million ppl playing that game, u can ALWAYS find some runs (same thing aplies for cwpq, for me it doesnt have sense ask for 10 ppl in a server with less of 1000 persons daily, just incentivates muling) and this opinion comes from someone who LOVED Scarga, and got exited when developers released it here,but after my fisrt run, i said MEH... and never do it again. was painful to see, for me, scarga is just nostalgia and nothing else Funny thing is in this thread( and a few other buff/nerf ones) ppl who says "it should stay at it is" never participates in the thing is being discussed, i can bet anything that at least half of the ppl who voted "dont change anything" is never interested in doing scarga runs for the same reasons P.D can u explain to me how buff exp/drops of something makes the runs easier??????
I didn't say the runs became easier, I meant is that it's easier to hit 200 due to so many different sources of exp. It is also easier to build range, as for example you can scroll a zak Helm and keep it for the stats instead dropping it and having to start from scratch. I'll say this once, I'll say this once more. This boss caters to people who want a better Helm and simple aids them in doing so, it gives the players more reloots per day instead of only 2 zak runs. And yes, with its time limit of 30mins it is a tight constraint, this boss caters to people who want to min/max their Helm and already can do decent damage, nothing else. I know people who are just seeking for any means to increase their range, these helms help. I'm relatively indifferent if they buff the drops, but I am not OK if they buff the exp, just to make sure we are on the same page
ermmmmm remeber we are adults now(have to work, study, maybe raise kids too..aaaand we just have 24 hours ina day, lets say scarga gives the same exp as zak(wich i dont support) u really think most players are gonna do zak/cwpq/ht/scarga/bf/and grind for exp daily?, theres players who has been here for years and dont reached 200 yet... 1.-scrolling helms arent that easy just dex/int helm scrolls chaosing is risky and expensive, so waht ure talkin is ust for funded players... 2.- basically ure saying scarga is a filler, not meant to be a important boss, rember zak is wanted just because it gives exp and skillboks besides zhelms ure not getting more " helm loots" if nobody want to go to scarga wth u. i dare u to try it... ask for 2 zak runs (as atacker or buyer) u can get them easily...now if u get crappy zhelms , ask for 2 scarga runs....lets see how is it go...so right now scarga is not a REAL option for more good helms daily... 3.- i totally get what u meant,ure afraid of creating an exp exploit niche . but that way of thining just applies to a few player who are conected and play 24/7, believe me if develpers buff the experience ppl just gonna choose which one you like the most between zak/ and scarga, most of us wont do the 4 runs daily, on the paper ure right, but when we get back to REALITY it doesnt work that way. just think of how many ppl loses many of their daily shao run for lack of time/partner/mules being just 10 mins or less and AMAZING exp, to sumerize... more high exp bosses just give us OPTIONS not exploits
just to rectify, with 3.2exp/1exp or x12345exp, doesnt make the game easier, just make the way quicker...this is a 2005 game and we live in the internet era...we have multiple guides to everygame, OBVIOUSLY is gonna be easier for us now...that how it was back then...
I have to agree with this, i wish to have a great community of large populations. the arguement that @Shnang suggested is a behaviour only applies to people that plays 24/7. if the scarlion were to give exp. people would kill it for fun with parties. not exp expolit. There is not enough time to kill all bosses, (cwkpq, pap, bf, shaolin, zak, HT, and all kinds of boss) for average players. again, i want to look out for a successful community in the long run. Not just a few players who play 24/7. People already kill HT everyday to get to level 200. should we nerf HT exp because it is too easy? I believe the scarlion should give out exp the same as 1 big foot and changed from time limit 30min ->45min or 1hour (because it is impossible to kill it right now unless you have crash skills
its hard to down both bosses in 30min but me n @MysticalSt4r can down scarlion in 30min with her nl, my hero n my nl trioing with se/si thx for carry jane
I'll say this as a side note, your second point isn't completely true,there are many circumstances where this boss would be run for reasons other than min maxing. Take me for example, I'm not at all a high end player in terms of gear, much closer to mid range, but the next item on my list of upgrades would be my Zakum helm-- which I cannot unequip without losing access to my weapon, so reloots were effectively impossible for me, at least until Scarga came out. People can also run the boss if they suck at the ZJQ (They exist). Framing this as "It's ok that it sucks because only the highest of the high players run the boss" is simply untrue and frames the discussion in an unrealistic way. With that being said, I don't think buffing its exp is the way to go, but the helm drop rates absolutely must be a minimum of 3, and they should have some sort of other drops to give them staying power, as this boss is pretty hard to beat without a decent number of players, you need to have people who're willing to fight the boss. As such, I would suggest making both Scarlion and Targa drop a 5k nx, 10 energizers, and perhaps accessory scrolls (ring, belt, pendant, etc). The first two I think are a no brainer, while the last is just my opinion.
drop 10 energizer are you crazy lol no one will but attack potion anymore then, even just dropping 1 energizer is too much also i want to say that increasing helmet drop does not make any sense. u realize scarlion has only 210m hp and zakun have 510m hp, no one will do zakum if scarlion drops 3helmet and zakum drop 3helmet as well. ( scarlion helmet are higher stats too. everyone will be spamming scarlions
nope,even being like that zak is still great exp, sb selling and gene20, still would preffer zak over scarga,but at least scarga is not a waist of time, they can drop even 4 helms and still being worse than zak..(not suggesting to drop 4 helms)
idk where u got your info buddy, but i'd need to see a ss of more than 2 helms dropping. i've killed both bosses several times and have only seen 2 helms per boss
A few points we did on release: We lowered the timer to make the bosses more difficult to clear in the time limit. In Mapleroyals these bosses would be too easy to solo if we kept a higher timer which wasn't what we were looking for. We hard locked the drops to 2 helmets per boss since this boss is free* to participate in and more accessible than zakum and to keep the content repeatable but rewarding at the same time. Exp combined from form 1, 2 and 3 of scarlion for example give 75% the amount of exp you get from a bigfoot, that's not quite 0 like some people mentioned. Now that the content has been out for a while I personally think some good changes would be: Less spam of weapon/magic cancels that make the fight annoyingly long where most jobs cant do anything but wait. Double the exp to make it better than a bigfoot which is a lvl 110 boss designed for solo as targa and scarlion are lvl 140 and meant for party play. I dont think it needs additional loot as the helmets already have a good value (since you can choose to either be relooting zakum helmets or scarlion/targa helmets while keeping the counterpart scrolled and equipped) * free unlike zakum which requires an eye of fire which has a market value
Perhaps red/yellow ciders could be a good addition to the boss? Not too OP,already enough bosses that drop gizers,and no stable supply of them as far as i know
In that case it makes more sense to me to review that content for their (worthwhile) rewards rather than leaving them overshadowed and use their unique rewards in other content.
