I recently started playing mapleroyals a couple weeks ago and, at first, I fell in love with this game (just as I did with the original maplestory, over a decade ago). However, I have an issue with the game which I am worried might ruin the entire experience. For reference, I am a lvl 71 Hermit with not-so-great gear. I can vote once per day, giving me 8,000 nx. If I sell AP resets at 14m each, this is about 36m per day. Now if I were to kill mobs myself, I would barely get 10m in an hour (I'm sure I could get more, but I'm just trying to illustrate a point). Since I only have 1-3 hours to play per day, I don't really see the point in even playing the game since the amount I make actively playing is fairly small compared to just taking a minute to vote. At this point, I'm just collecting my nx and upgrading my gear entirely AFK. I feel like my progress is almost entirely determined by the money I make from voting rather than my own work and this isn't fun for me. Can someone with more experience possibly shed some light here? Am I playing completely wrong? Does the game get more interesting/rewarding as I level up? Why is the nx system designed this way?
lol a few of my real life friend thinks the same as you. they actually told me they are quitting for a year and just vote everyday 1 year = 14b selling ap reset they have quitted for 2 months now but i dont suggest this. i believe this is a stupid behaviour. you will make lots more mesos by playing the game for level 71 you can try getting married and do apq. u can get apples
You can apq for 60-120m in an hour everyday depending on rng for apples (11m ea). You can also cwkpq when you are 135+. If you want to make money by grinding mobs, you should just make a mage. You an make 40-50m/hr npcing equips at Ulu, and more if you sell leech to people (20m+/hr). Or more if you sell higher level leech like petris / skeles. Hermit / night lord is a single target dps class, so trying to farm mobs with it is just inefficient unfortunately compared to mage. If you can't find a leecher can just leech your hermit while you grind mesos on mage. Other alternatives include summon farming (mages or archers) or merching (needs a decent amount of mesos to get started and good knowledge of pricing / luck).
Hi, welcome to the server.to respond ur question i have to say some things. 1.-at the start the nostalgia seizes you, but with a few months of playing u start to notice , not all of old ms was perfect(if u played over 10 years ago i supose ure over ur 20s)and then u start to rember old ms was INCREDIBLY slow, and if u start to remembr everything in the game the ilusion begin to die...that doesnt means old ms as a bad game, look at us here we are spending hours in a very old game... 2.-look at the threads with ppl who thinks like you, theres lots of them and maybe u gonna get the answers u want in those intead of making a new one of this( not ur fault, but this topic was discussed many times in the past) 3.- at ur lvl 36m daily is not bad, but it isnt taht much money either....and it becomes even less with more lvls u have . we can have here , what we always wanted in old ms and (at least for me) never can... a well equiped pet, nice looks, etc. nx is not just for ap resets... 4.-in this game as real life is not all about getting money( i can respect ur opinion if ur main goal is make money, but for me is pointless) grinding=exp/ money voting= just money( and not taht much either) if ure planning to stay at lvl 7x for months,and ur only goal in game is to make money, ure totally right daily play is pointless, but if u want to keep leveling became stronger , SKILLFULL and being aprt of the comunity, believe me 8k nx daily is NOTHING. i also play 2-3 hours daily TOPS, but in those hours i make waaaaay more money than voting and even then, im not funded at all, for me is fun to try to cmpite with ither players.. but its up yo you to decide To summerize: for now it can seems like a lot, but 36m a day is nothing, and u cant upgrade nothing just by ap resets money(dont play the card of "old ms wasnt like that" because most of funded players of those days used to have maaaaany acounts with max mesos until ws were released as 1b coins as well of mw30 wich many of them acumulated as B coins, old ms was like this,but worse)
Find a goal and stick to it. Just because you are a low level hermit, should not bar you from level grinding or in general having fun. Do not get discouraged by the cost of high level NL gear, since most are for end-game. Mid level gear is highly affordable for many and sufficient enough to go bossing, especially with friends/guildmates. The nx system is designed this way to introduce nx into the game without real money like the original game. Also, do not forget about events.
I've been camping out at Leprechauns and keeping track of meso earned + full inventory NPC-ing...it's in the region of 8.5 - 8.9million for each round my Eqp Inventory is full....and it usually takes about 15-20 mins. Let's settle for 20 mins. An hour has 3 blocks of NPC-ing = 8millionx3= 24 million. Play for 2 hours and this becomes 48 million. This already surpasses the AP Resets amount per day. I haven't even factored in the Lucky Charm drops that you can either sell or use for a quest for some sweet EXP bump. The Leps map also has HH spawn, which you can get decent EXP and the HH drop which is also used for a quest. My next meso tracking would be on Voodoos/Hoodoos.
At some point when i first registered i kinda thought like this aswell until the day i got advice from some fellow who claimed to have been registered for as long as i have and has been playing casually for a year and yet also had 25b and almost every class lvl 120+. There are a multitude of ways of making money but you really just need to set yourself up so you are capable of making all you would ever need in those 1-3 hours that you can play and be patient and consistent. Me myself i currently luckily had some time on my hands some weeks ago so i slowly grinded up a f/p archmage and a HS mule so that on some days i could sell leech for 2 hours ( 240 mil ULU2 leech +npc) and other days i could just play/ sit around in fm/chat/ do whatever for the 2 hours i can play with other chars. Some people above have also mentioned apples, leprechaun farming, you could even farm gold teeth or whatever. My main point is you really just need to be creative in finding your setup and utilize it so you can play anyhow you want, wasn't finding a way to make mesos for pots also a part of the nostalgic experience ?
That's the nature of all MMORPGs, not just MapleStory exclusively. Farm to get money, spend said money in order to get better gear, and with that gear reach the end-game goals such as bosses. This can be applied to basically all popular MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft and Runescape. Grinding is a huge part of the game and is probably one of the reasons why many people play, the feeling of excitement once you get that drop, or save up enough mesos for your character is feeling your hard work paid off.
I play to enjoy the game I love with friends I met online. If it makes you feel any better, here is the (usual) Mapleroyals experience: 1. Make first character 2. Quit first character because HP washing and poor 3. Make bish to sell leech or stoppers 4. Make character for bossing
I joined a few weeks ago as well, lvl 53 sin and have been grinding at coolie zombies for zombie teeth. Each one sells for at least 6k which is easy money as they are the main etc drop. I also bought loads which were cheap in fm and then re-sold them for more as well as the ones I farmed, total I made 7m profit for about 30 mins training... plus the exp is ok-ish for my lvl lol Also, i've found tons of mid game gear with great stats for dirt cheap. Just focus on your lvl and gear and dont worry about end game and bossing etc... enjoy it for what it is
Think about it like this; you are making the same amount as someone who is afk + whatever amount you make while playing. Playing will always yield higher than just not playing and voting for NX. Some things you can do to make money; Merch - Buy valuable things at a low price and sell them at a higher price for profit. Get a shop and start using your money to make more money. Heartstoppers - Dropped from Voodoo/Hoodoo in Sophilia's Bedroom, go for 450k-500k a pop. They also drop many equips which can be NPCd. Lucky Charms - Already suggested and basically same as above. Make a Mage - If you're really looking at getting to end game efficiently, nothing beats making a Mage. Between farming and selling leech, they're money machines. You can also use it to self leech your main to HP wash or just generally make lvling easier. Bishops even get to boss. Starting the game as a NL is hard. Most expensive class for both gear and washing, and hard to level.
Answering title "What is the point in even playing?" To have fun and/or attain personal goals (isn't that the point of every game?). For some that may be training, for others that may be bossing, farming, leeching, henehoe-ing, spamming SMegas, merchanting, questing, attaining gear, attaining a certain HP, scrolling, or any mixture of the bunch. It's entirely individual, and instead of following in the footsteps of others by seeking to attain their goal, seek to attain your own. Say you don't like farming, but the majority of other players do....just don't fuckin' farm! Do whatever the fuck you wanna do.
