    For some people, that can be the case. For me, not really.
    Whether it is online or IRL, I do not picture people how I want them to be. If I did that, I don't get how I can call someone a friend. You learn people's flaws once you get to know them overtime (it can be a day, a month, a year or even more from now). You just have to choose whether or not you'll look past them overtime.

    This. I can honestly say every person I have met from Maple is EXACTLY how I knew them online. Maybe it's because I'm the type that doesn't just meet up with someone a week after knowing them. Or maybe it's because everyone I've met so far I have known for several months, had Skype calls, and did video calls with to actually get to know their personalities so I knew what they were like ahead of time.

    If you don't get to know someone before meeting them... you're going to have a bad time :p

    The moment you video chat with people for several months, yeah, you get to know them. I was talking about Maplestory though, no skype convos, voice chats or anything.

    I would never meet up with anyone, for the first time, without at least skyping first. IMO: you're blatantly putting yourself in harms way. ~f6

    Should have posted in this 5eva ago.

    I got to meet @Aly and @Stan on my trip to London a few weeks ago. Stan and Aly both are great people! I don't have a picture buuuuttt, Aly actually ran back, after we had all said goodbye to take a selfie. :eek:
    Southbank is really nice and I'm sooo glad Aly decided we should all meet there.

    I would definitely meet up with them again, if they would like to grace me with their presence once more, when I go back to London for xmas break.

    a wise mapler from GMS scania in its first days once said 'Don't make friends on Maple, but make friends from Maple' - Gianni ... I've played in Scania in its first years and was one of the top levelled players for a while and good friends with the so-called legends. After 8-10 years most of us STILL talk on Facebook, Skype, Whatsapp ... quite a lot ! One of the girls named Susie (Susan)(dont wanna give her ign), actually came all the way to New Zealand and caught up with me long after we all quit playing . She's my oldest running friend and we talk everyday , basically an older sister for me ... :D

    I had lots of real life maple friends from maplesea we meet up for dinner and gatherings often~ Once a year we go on trips too~ The next up and coming trip will be in November~ I am so looking forward to it~

    But I DID meet my IRL friend in GMS, we used to play together :3

    Well, sometimes people connect really well through the internet and want to see each other's faces in real life :D It happens more often than you'd think! And obviously not only through MapleStory.
    Usually it's also quite easy to tell if someone is acting like themselves or not. At least to me it is. So you'll know what to expect.

    Granted, it can still be overwhelming and scary at first :)

    Great that you guys are keeping the thread alive! Unfortunately I don't have any new stories to tell yet.... (read: COME VISIST ME NOOBS.)
