Many of the current GMs aren't exactly "good" at their position and don't bring any special qualifications/skill sets to the table that the people applying don't also bring. Further, it's not like we're even actively replacing GMs either...there hasn't been one thread/post about how the X month MIA staff members are getting snipped and we're actively seeking replacements. People apply, get ignored, or get denied despite having the same skill sets/capabilities as the current MIA GMs who aren't even doing anything, and that's that. Even a mediocre GM performing at 50% is going to be better than the GMs who are completely absent for months on end. While I don't think that somebody slacking is okay at all, I'd much rather have the slackers than the ones who are completely nonexistent. 50% of duties being completed is better than 0%. Once we replace all of the absent ones with the 50%ers, then we can start trying to replace the 50%ers with 100%+ers like Shane and Tim
you don't know whats going on behind the curtain ( i don't aswell ) but i know GM it's hard to find , need alot trust (current GM fights with alot ToS breaks fairly good) especially when it's private server which makes it harder to build team without "9-5"job and all that so many apply for GM and most of them if not all are there just for power role or look at me i can do what i want (we allready saw few abuses of the position in the past) as someone who comes from KMS,GMS,MSEA ( nexon maplestory) company that has dedicated team office and all that i still see them fail to mange base things... meanwhile royals mange to do much more without all that things sadly there allways will be someone that breaks ToS and there is no game or company that can say " we are safe" it's private server and community need to work together if we want to stay strong i don't think many care what dmg output someone has or what can solo... we all know how it's done even if someone RWT/cheat what they reach? (i just see them being stupid with their time and money ) royal it's mostly for social nostalgic gameing then self "achievements"
You are right that if they are going to be inactive for long periods of time, they should resign and new members should be assigned to fill the necessary role. Regardless of the reasons whether it be motivation or lack of time. I don't get why some people want to kiss up and ignore the current state of staff and management. Obviously theres trust and pre-reqs that should be met for their standards, but being short-staffed for a while now isn't helping matters. However, I disagree with your statement on the GMs not being "good" at their position. Try doing their job for a month or two and I can almost guarantee you'll understand why it is that newly hired volunteers work hard for a certain period of time on a server they care about until they become burnt out. I've actively reported hackers, among other cheaters, for about months on end until I eventually became burnt out. Why don't you give it a try and tell me how "simple" it is to volunteer for long periods of time doing all this work for a server and getting almost nothing out of it? What is a mediocre GM if you're referring to the behind the scenes activities you're probably unaware of? I don't know what you're trying to say here. I'm assuming you mean, there are very few players that care enough to contribute to the server? There are many GM applications by people that are inactive, which will be contributing to the problem of course. But please tell me, what is your idea of a good GM and application? I'm assuming you think the players that sit back and just shit-post are the ones who wouldn't make good GMs correct? Do many players even know what GMs really do behind the scenes? How many players really care enough if I'm honestly speaking? I think many players don't bother to say anything until it starts affecting their bottom-line. Trust me, I'm sure the players who actually care are facing frustration of seeing all the hackers and such around but its difficult in their position to do much about it. And speaking as someone who did send in an application, I did so because I cared about the server and wanted to do something about these things instead of sitting back and complaining. I've had some controversial history here so I don't like my chances. But I did let go of a 50b+ item to go after a criminal if you weren't aware. So let that speak for my integrity. If some players have the time to sit around and complain about it, then they also have the time to either contribute or apply for staff position themselves. Some of you may actually be great staff candidates if you care enough to apply and I want to encourage more players to do so, given their intentions aren't bad.
I have been thinking about the staff situation a lot recently. I'm sure everyone would agree that they don't expect to play royals forever. Even if there are plenty of old players around, I know many have been active on and off for periods of time. We wouldn't expect any one individual to dedicate their energy on one game long term without any breaks whatsoever, so why would we expect that of volunteer staff? Players come and go, it is only reasonable to assume the same of staff too. My point here is not to say it's okay for staff to go MIA. I'm thinking more of when appointing/promoting staff, make it such that they are given the position for say 3-6 months. If they are still interested to continue their service after that period, they can make their intention known and this agreement for their position may be "renewed" for yet another set period of time. Rather than to just let them hold the position indefinitely, disappearing when they're burnt out and moving on with life. Having a list of staff that's updated more frequently (6 months is not too much to ask, is it?) than it currently is would be more helpful than anything we have right now. This way. it's much clearer to see when there is a need for new staff, and not have a long arbitrary list of inactive GMs, who might not even have the servers' best interest at heart any more should they return.
I feel like while I do like the suggestion, I also fear of it just being a repeat of what's been happening already in the past. We have asked Staff members before about their inactivity, and asked them if they wanted to stay but actually having to work or to just leave. A lot of them said they wanted to stay, and then they would be active for a week, to then just disappear again right after. So I feel like the question of wanting to stay should then only be asked to Staff members that are actually active, and just release inactive ones regardless of what they want. If that direction is to be taken anyway.
i said that current GM's fights with alot ToS breaks fairly good ( that's not kissing or someting...) allways will be cheaters and staff that fights back( it's eazy to say from the side "i could have done that better or something else..) also there is no standards to look after when there is all online voluntary ''job" and position that mostly require trust then all other things the role gives there is steps that has to be done in each report (can't be just i saw that guy it's obviously hacking you still need take evidence and archive it properly ) i also said we saw how GM role got abused in the past easily the trust-risk in a online voluntary home job with such power role it's huge i don't know how royal it's organised ( i guess it's not as company where they sign NDA and stuff like that) after all everyone in royal it's /can be GM "voluntary" you don't need power role to make same report GM it's makeing sure would be nice if more GM come/activ to process that faster but it's eazy said then done
O I meant those that does something at least once every few months. Ofc if he/she doesn't login over a year then its gg.
