I have my offline clothing store which is going good, but now I am planning to take it online but I am confused about whether I should go online via web or should build an application for this?

    Hoping for honest suggestions

I suggest set up a website instead of a mobile app. As there are variety of existing resource that not only host but also help build up your website, compare to building an app. Besides, a website is easier to market, as clients would just need a link to your store, than requesting them to spend time and effort to locate your app and to download it.

The right time for you consider setting up a app, if is you already have a existing large online/offline presence in the first place or the resources to set it up and do user testing on it. Since you have the foresight of asking are an important direction on where your business can go, in an online forum delicate to a childhood game that is over 10 years old and hoping some college age strangers for advice. I would infer you definitely do not have do have such a presence or resources to consider an app at all.

The need for choosing the Right Tech Stack:-

The requirement of the right tech stack is the essential part of a successful product for any digital platform be it the app or the website but above all, it's very important to opt for the right technology and i understand it's the toughest job and the tricky one to find the right stack.
In a layman language, web and app development needs a database, a server, HTML + CSS and also the programming language. All the layers are put together and then it forms a tech stack for both web development as well as app development whatever required.
Talking in technical terms the tech stack is combining components that help in satisfying the layers of mobile as well as the web applications and can then affect the functionality of the application. The main two layers here are:-

    • The client-side
    • The Server-side
    Original Source: Tech Stack
The best way out is to opt for web applications.
Below I'm mentioning the top Tech Stack that can be used for your business:-

    FRONT-END FRAMEWORK AND LIBRARIES:-
    • Bootstrap
    • Angular
    • Vue-js
    • React
    Programming Language:-
    • PHP
    • Java
    • Javascript
    • C++
    Databases
    • MongoDB
    • MySQL

There's absolutely no need for an app. People aren't going to find out about your product through an app. Apps are only useful for people that already know about your product and want a more streamlined experience when purchasing from you. Since you're clearly not running a massive business, no one will bother downloading an app to browse your store.

If you're absolutely new to web development and need some help, send me a PM and I can help you get started.

I would suggest a website that supports mobile view

You can play around with free websites to see how it looks before investing in the website

Depends on which country you are in.
If in China, use an app. If in the US, use a website. etc...

Go for the website first, build up your audience and costumers.
