Solved [Solution Given] error code: -2147024089

Hello

I've been playing the game fine for a while now, but I kind of want to fix this error. Every time I launch the game, it takes me several times to launch in order for it to work. I would usually get an error code. I'd just click "ok" and keep trying. Usually it opens on 10-12th try. Sometimes if I'm lucky...the 3rd try. If there is a way, I'd like to be able to just open the game without having to go through that hassle.

I assume you're using Windows 8? If so, right click on the client, select properties and click on the compatibility tab. Win98, WinXP and Windows7 seem to be the most popular choices for compatibility mode - see which one works for you. If that doesn't work, you could try running the client as administrator.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried both of them and it still doesn't seem to work. The same error still shows up.

 

Someone who's familiar with Windows 8 will probably be along soon to help (sorry, never used it myself), but I noticed that there are quite a lot of threads in this forum about the incorrect parameter error. You might want to type that into the search box and see if you find any of the answers on those threads helpful to you.

I give up i reinstall at least 3 times already and its still the same..
So i am happy as long as i can play~

 

This is the exact same error I do get on my Laptop as well (Windows 8) and the fix is indeed to put the client in compatibility windows 98/me. Very strange how that doesn't fix it for you.

Hi, are you sill unable to play?

I have this problem as well, here is what i do. Tick "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" under compatibility.
You want to try all of these 4 "Windows 98 / Windows Me" "Windows XP SP 2 AND 3" Windows Vista SP 2" "Windows 7"
Restart your computer until it works. Sometimes i have to restart 3 or 4 times and sometimes not at all and just works on the first try, it seems very random. It works for me, so it might for you. Hope it helps.

Fortunately I fixed it I messed around the setting some more. Just put the client in compatibility windows 98/me and run on admin it'll work! Every other compatibility mode doesn't work. Only Windows 98/me. Thank you for all your help~

 

The other ones do *not* work. Its only 98/me for whatever reason, no idea why.
