    and ask: would it be possible to somehow have the newer classes, like demon avenger, ark, kanna, illium, beast tamer, etc (with pre-big bang damage values) added to royals? I think a lot of people would like this as an update and would give support for it...

    Hmm... based on the few replies so far I am going to guess there won't be much support for this idea? I mean pre-big bang values, ya know, not ridiculously high damage....

    The classes you mentioned doesn't exist during BBB era, so it's not possible to just add them
    The files would be totally different

    Supposed if you meant adding the classes as custom jobs, it would be too complicated

    We have no plans of adding any playable classes as we aim to be a nostalgic server

    There were a handful of classes added before the Big Bang, which could, in theory be added to Royals. The staff have a pretty firm stance on the matter with limiting to only the Explorers, but we can still talk about it a little and give some community feedback. Forgive me if this is full of mistakes as it's currently 4 in the morning. Unless something major changes, I wouldn't expect any of these to be added, but just for fun let's look at the classes that were introduced as of V83. There were two others introduced after this version but before Big Bang (Evan and Dual Blade), however these would likely involve an update to a new source, so adding them would be virtually impossible.

    The Cygnus Knights

    I'm grouping these together because they really all serve the same purpose. They would likely have the least impact on the server's state. They have a max level of 120, but until level 70 gain 6 AP instead of the usual 5. This makes them slightly stronger than an Explorer character of the same level using identical gear, but the 120 cap means they won't be doing much at any of the bosses. There are five classes in total, one representing each of the main job branches:

    - Blaze Wizard : Kind of a discount Fire / Poison mage. Most of their skills are almost identical save for the animations, and a few such as Meteor are obtained earlier than their Explorer counterparts. Being unable to reach level 30 and use the better Elemental Wands means they shouldn't impact Petris unless someone gets one godly funded. They might be used for ulu1 / 2 leech in conjunction with a HS mule, but even then you're probably better off just making an F/P for this purpose. They are however the fastest to level thanks to Meteor, and thus are good Blessing mules (more on this below)

    - Dawn Warrior : Somewhat of a hybrid between Heroes and Paladins, I believe they are restricted to two-handed swords. They have a high damage output for their level, and would likely be used as CPQ mules and perhaps for Bigfoot leech as well. They also level pretty fast thanks to a skill called Soul Driver.

    - Thunder Breaker : Buccs... with lightning sharks. No really. Other than that they're the same thing. They do get SI at a lower level and could serve as a mule.

    - Night Walker : It's NL with a few additional shadowy tricks. Not much to see here, really.

    - Wind Archer : Arguably the most unique of the Cygnus Knights, showing off a Dark Sight knockoff and a really cool looking transformation. They don't get SE, so they don't serve much of a purpose, unfortunately.

    The main attraction to Cygnus Knights, however is the Blessing of the Fairy skill, which boosts Attack and Magic in a 1:2 ratio for every 10 levels gained by a Cygnus Knight on the account. Other characters on the account grant the same blessing to Cygnus Knights as well. This does not stack with multiple characters on the account; the highest level character's blessing is the one applied. Thus, Explorers and the... other one we're about to discuss would +12 attack / +24 magic at most, and the Cygnus Knight can get 20 / 40. All in all I don't think Cygnus Knights would make a huge impact on MapleRoyals if they were ever added other than bumping up everybody's range a bit. With the exception of Dawn Warriors in CPQ, none of them really do anything more efficiently than their Explorer counterparts (and in a lot of cases are in fact worse). They'd just add some variety and a chance to try something different.

    Aran

    This is the one that would require the most thought and would affect the community far more. For those who don't know, Aran was the first "Hero" class to be introduced, and has been a central figure in Maplestory's storyline since then. She's easily one of the most powerful classes and remains so to this day. (Note: In the lore Aran is now consistently depicted as female but has always been able to be created as a male or female character.) Aran is a warrior class that wields a pole-arm (she can't use a spear ), but what makes her stand out is the combo system that's unique to her (think of it like a greatly expanded Combo Attack but not really). As Aran attacks monsters, she builds up a combo count, boosting her stats and letting her use more powerful skills; ceasing fighting resets the count. Most of Aran's skills are performed by pressing the attack key in combination with moving around rather than binding them to a specific key; this gives her a truly unique play style that's unlike any other class of this era or really since. Oh, and she gets to ride a wolf which is totally badass.

    The thing to note about Aran is that her damage output is high. Like.... really high. Rivaling NL and Sair high. This, combined with her having the sturdiness of a melee class could easily shift the server's balance if she were to be added. Being a Warrior, Aran's natural HP is high and thus requires far less washing. The end result is this is a cheaper class to play than NL or Sair with nearly the same reward of top-notch DPM. From a story perspective this kind of makes sense; Aran is a legendary hero after all, but it would shift the balance on the server. As of this writing I can't think of a healthy way to introduce Aran without upsetting the balance, at least until (if) an alternative to HP washing is implemented.

    In conclusion, I think the Cygnus Knights would be fine to add (still don't count on it and this is just a thought experiment), but Aran would be unhealthy unless major and controversial changes were to be made to her and / or the server itself.

    If you release Cygnus they'd just become blessing mules, making royals even more leech/mule focused and worse in general.

    If you remove the blessing almost nobody will play them cause it's too easy to get to 120 here and they can't lol past 120. I played some other servers with Cygnus before and nobody played them

    Aran and dual blade are too op and broken.

    Evan can actually work, it's an interesting class that isn't very powerful and can be a more bossing oriented mage or something with stronger 1vs1 but CD on the ultimate .
    However releasing it will cause some people to complain it's not nostalgic while others will demand to add more new classes like Aran, so it might not be a good idea to add them

    As for the post bb classes, they don't fit this server

    Yea if I saw duel blades jumping all over the place I'd be kinda pissy. I'm just thankful they have the pew pew and the super sayian. 0:)
