I just saw someone doing 500 gacha tickets and all he got was 30+ coins. Support this cmon, it was good to have a chance to win some chaos and white scrolls from the gachapon!
Disagree. In my whole time I got 2 WS and 0 Chaos before the revamp... And I've been here quite a while. Give them a chance to implement the new system and see how it works out first.
No, these items will not be put back into gachapon. The availability of coins and prices of items may change however.
I also have a request concerning gachapon - please, please, please get rid of some of the Def scrolls and NPC-buyable 100%s from gacha? These seem to make up the bulk of what I get in any gacha run, and tbh, it's hard to feel much enthusiasm for gacha now when such a high percentage of what comes out of it is total garbage. I'm not sure what I'd suggest as a replacement, but there's got to be something more interesting (or at least collectible) lurking in the database, surely?
This is a good idea. I get so many crap equips/def scrolls/random potions. To actually contribute to this thread though, as a new player who started after gachapon revamp, I believe after some tweaking this new system will be perfect. It seems to me, from what I've heard from various people, that the old system was broken by giving out far too many 'good' items. That being said, as of right now I still feel it's a bit unfair that older players got the advantage of having white and chaos scrolls readily at their disposal. I think either the rate of coins should be increased, or the cost per item reduced, such that the rate of scrolls entering the market is less than being broken, but still an appropriate rate.
Building upon what coloury says about new players being disadvantaged, I just wanted to clear up the matter of bosses dropping coins. Do ALL bosses drop them? Or just the high level ones? From what I understand it is only the higher level bosses. Perhaps it makes sense to at least add coin drops to all bosses so newer players can get coins from bosses too. There are already other advantages for doing high level bosses like zhelms and other good equipment, so high level players still have a reason to kill high level bosses. At the same time, new lower level players can still boss and get coins. If all bosses already drop coins at basically the same rate, then disregard this post.
Sure, you have to work at getting the coins, but the hard work will be worth it! We've been hosting events, too, in which winners generally receive 5 coins per win (at the minimum). The number of events hosted will be going up even more in the near future. We are planning on adding new items into gacha soon, as well. Just be patient! I have about 20 coins on my regular character, and I've only done gacha and about...3 bosses since the revamp? And no events. So for someone putting in minimal effort, I'm still making progress. Also: I'm just going to leave this here...again...
I think 50 coins would be fair, I don't think 100 is impossible I have about 20 on both my characters but say I wanna perfect a weapon or chaos something 100 would take some time to obtain. Unless I wanna spend hours gathering nx for example at gs2 for example. Not everyone plays all the time also so events might not happen when online. I think coins is good on dropping on bosses so higher Lvl chars can upgrade there gear quicker for the special items you spend it on. I think the old way was too easy but I think 50 coins should be considered cause its still grindy but not so much.
There have to be useless items/scrolls in gacha so that the rate's for good items stay somewhat rare.. I still think adding some items with a very low droprate would be a good way to increase people's enthusiasm, for example 1/500~1000 droprate 1att 5slot face accessory
I've not got problems with there being some useless items in gacha. What I find offputting is the sheer volume of absolute dross in any gacha run. I know you were just giving an example, but I think eye accessory would be a better idea than face accessory, as the price of eye accessory scrolls is dropping due to there being hardly anything to scroll. Maybe 1 atk/3 m. atk would work as stats, as that offers something for everybody.
yes was a example but i specifically used face acc because it would be substitute for SMC event mask =P
well its hardly the only "worthwhile mask" and yes, i do think so. Mainly because people worked hard for it in the first place. The masks also could of went either way with luck.
There should be a (Real) substitute for event items like these or its unfair for new players & yes also for people who got unlucky with scrolling theirs. 1att 5slot still not nearly as good as event mask. No need to argue with me on this, it was a example.
Just wait til there is another similar event. You don't think it's fair on the new players yet if there was a similar item put into gachapon it would then not be fair on the old players who put hard work into that event.
If memory serves, white scrolls were incredibly rare in the official Maple servers in 2008. Each one cost over a billion mesos if you wanted to buy one. Basically they were not part of the Mapling experience unless you were one of the very few people willing to spend thousands of dollars (real dollars) in the game. I wouldn't mind at all if they were gone from the game actually.
not thousands of dollars but yes, agreed. i still want it to be part of the game but not so easily obtained.
There are two things I would like to speak about in this post. First, the idea of private server versus global MapleStory. Second, the idea of what the gachapon really is. It is important to decide when making your private server if you are going to pull a GMS spin on it or not. The balance between the two can become especially tough, considering that we are working with probably 500 or so active players against hundreds of thousands shown in the official game. A very lucky thing has happened with MapleRoyals, and that is that we have generated a working economy and price fluctuation. It is really interesting how I can spend one day searching through the tens (or even a hundred depending on the day) of different shops and see items sell within 5 minutes, but then the next day never sell again. This happened when I joined. I remember gaching in Singapore for the Elemental Wand 7s, and they would sell immediately for 50m+, regardless of magic attack. Then all of a sudden they stopped selling, even for under 10m, unless you had some sort of godly one. This brings me to my second topic: the purpose of the gachapon. Is it to boost the economy or market of the server? Is it for pure entertainment? Is it a goal of each player? I believe the answer for each of those questions is yes. The gachapon is a very delicate program offered within MapleStory, and is not comparable to anything in real life. So, we must realize what the balance of distribution the gachapon offers is. Should we always get what we want, or should we rarely get what we want? Finding that perfect number is not easy. My recommendation is to eliminate the entire coin system: it is stupid. The idea was terrible and a cop out to slow down the economy and end inflation on the server, though all it seemed to do was inflate it more and cause more havoc. People now can gather thousands of tickets and spend them all to get some defense scrolls and ugly event items that seem to have no appeal to the people of MapleRoyals (Red Ragged Cape, Versalmas Cactus), while gathering maybe 3 coins. The system also promotes a foul sort of competition, that of racing to kill the bosses. Considering the bullshit policy offered by MapleRoyals.com that our server has achieved 99.9% uptime being a lie, and we suffer constant restarts or crashes to refresh those bosses, it makes it hard for people who are not as active as those who are the first ones back and rush to kill them. The bosses have a very long respawn rate, which may even surpass the rate of restarts. So, this post is not to flame. As I recommended: eliminate the coin system. This does not mean we have to return to the "old way" of gathering hundreds of millions of mesos with 24 tickets. I suggest that we move to what the gachapon should be, which is grinding for a chance at rare items, not always getting what you want, but being able to sell that of which you don't to produce the necessary mesos to gather what you do. Obviously we do not always get what we want from the gachapon, but the coins give us the chance to purchase the white scroll instead of getting a chaos scroll that we can in turn trade through a line to get the white scroll. Note 1: Lower the rates of the "good" items extremely. Note 2: Add more items to the gachapon, perhaps things like blue snail shells or other useless things. Note 3: Find more variety that can be added to the gachapon to produce different items we can gather that people want. The Glimmerman items are great, as well as godly items, but we need more. Note 4: You have made the gachapon useless for the players, when before it was marked as a thing to do when you are done training and then continue to work with the markets for a time then return to training. This created a time balance that was fun and broke up the hours of grinding. Note 5: Some of this was written in a cryptic way, do not take it too harsh or as a flame war, and if something is unclear feel free to point it out so I can rephrase it. This way everyone can understand better and create a more interesting debate. Note 6: If there are any typos or grammar mistakes, my apologies. I did not bother to proof read. Note 7: I don't expect them to do what I say, for it is a bit radical and out there. But it is a hot topic of debate and these are my 2 cents. TLR: Remove coin system, make gachapon system more interesting. edit: the fuck with the slime lol omg it says T L ; D R which is too long; didn't read
