We've all seen them. Maybe you're like me and love them, or maybe you're boring and you don't. Tier lists. I thought that it would be fun to see where everyone ranks classes. Not everyone plays the game the same way so while one person might think that they have the perfect list, someone else's might be completely different. It's all subjective. If you feel like making your own to share and add to the thread: https://tiermaker.com/create/mapleroyalsclasses-280388?presentationMode=true Spoiler: S-Tier A tier reserved for only the best of the best. Night Lord - Is anyone surprised? Between insane avoidability, the easiest to maintain top tier DPS, and 15 12.5 minute Onyx Apples they've got it all. They get to have their cake and eat it too. Considering that I rank them so highly it's probably odd that my NL is currently retired Spoiler: A-Tier Amazing, irreplaceable, astounding. Bishop - A strong contender for sharing the S rank with NLs, we have Bishops topping the A tier. Everyone has one. Everyone needs one around. The amount of support this class brings is invaluable. They make or break every boss run and get to be amazing outside of bossing all at the same time. Bowmaster - The glue in every boss run. Nothing stings more than hearing someone say "SE dced" in the middle of your favorite boss. Not only do they have one of the strongest buffs in the game in Sharp Eyes, but they're in my opinion the best area bossing class and have very consistently high and often very underrated damage. Corsair - My wildcard pick. I don't think that many people would rank them so highly. In the hands of the wrong person, Corsairs could easily be down in the D or F tier. Once mastered, this class is no joke. A skilled Corsair will beat almost everyone at any boss. Their damage is disgusting. They have the most engaging gameplay that will always keep you on your toes. Shameless self plug: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/corsairs-guide-to-dismounting-at-horntail.115011/ Spoiler: B-Tier Above average Hero - If this were 2015-2016, I'd have Heroes up in the S-Tier. I thought a lot about swapping Corsair and Hero but for me right now, this is the spot for Heroes. The only class I've played twice, and not because I messed up my first one. Jack of all trades, master of some! There isn't really much of anything that heroes do poorly, and the things they do great at, they really excel in. Very beginner friendly and their main DPS skill hits up to 3 monsters with a huge range that lets them reach things they have no right being able to hit. Paladin - The class that can fit into any party. Being a single target high DPS class with situationally better multitarget damage, it's easy to sub out what might even be a spot for a NL in a bossing party for a Paladin considering what they bring to the table. The ability to dispel weapon cancel is highly sought after and can change the usual flow of a battle for the better. Buccaneer - Second in style points only to Corsairs, we have Buccaneers finishing off the B-tier. They hit like a truck and have some of the best support skills in the game. Being a melee class without stance can be extremely frustrating and painful at times, but their invincibility frames help quite a bit with that. Very fun class to play. Shadower - A very decent yet under-explored class that probably deserves more love from everyone. Good luck killing one of these guys. They have the highest avoidability in the game and can dish out damage that can compete with some of the best. Spoiler: C-Tier Nothing special The Archmages - They're so similar that I don't believe they deserve their own individual sections. I can't stand them(Just ask anyone in my guild!), but I have to admit that they're good at what they do. These money machines have spawned some of the richest players in the game. I rank Ice mages higher than Fire mages simply because they cap out at a better exp rate when training and because Ifrit is arguably more useful than Elquines. Spoiler: D-Tier Below Average Dark Knight - While not a bad class, I'd consider them to be pretty low tier. They're great as a stand-alone class but suffer due to the fact that heroes exist and I'm putting them down here because of that. Heroes are brain-dead Dark Knights that bring nothing unique to the table so I'm not sure why they even exist. Hyper Body can be invaluable so I can definitely see Dark Knights being higher than D-Tier and wouldn't argue against them moving up even 2 tiers but for me personally they're a big let down. Spoiler: F-Tier The worst of the worst Marksman - "Everything you can do, I can't do better." - They're the best at nothing. Yes, they have Sharp Eyes just like BMs that I put in the A-Tier but that's literally all they have. At the time of writing this, my main character is a Marksman and there isn't a single moment that I think to myself that it's worth playing over BM. They bring nothing to the table that isn't already covered by another class in a better way. There's a reason why my IGN is marksmeme. This is just for fun and isn't meant to be taken too seriously because what I think/feel might be completely different from what someone else does. I look forward to seeing other people post too!
If you master sair you can basically owned everything Oh i forgot to say.. night lord need SE in order to do extreme lines of damages
just my personal preference in terms of horntail and bossing in general, i have played most classes (other than mm + f/p) to a respectable level on mapleroyals Spoiler: my reasoning s tier - god tier night lord: amazing dps, but reliant on sharp eyes for good damage (every party usually has a source of sharp eyes), god tier avoid, good mobility (flash jump) and alchemist (+50% attack pot duration boost) a tier - amazing corsairs: amazing dps (stable and strong damage lines), not reliant on buffs such as sharp eyes/speed infusion to excel but dismounting and the lack of avoid is troublesome. bishops: pretty much essential to the party offering holy symbol (exp boost), genesis to clear mobs, and resurrection for the just in case something bad happens. bowmaster: provides the best support skill for nightlord (pretty much essential for a party consisting with one or more nightlord), and best solo area bossers hands down (does not require any other buffs) b tier - average buccaneer: provides great support to bossing parties with skills like time leap and speed infusion. also deals respectable single target dps while offering good wave clear. pally: provides great support to bossing parties, can speed up runs with total crash. most bosses have an elemental weakness so pallys generally hit like a tank if you are using the right elemental charge! c tier - below average dark knight: provides hyberbody (not really needed if players in the party has the required minimum hp to survive), excellent stable & strong multi target dps but not much difference compared to hero. imo too much effort for the lack of return (must keep your hp < 50% to maximize dps) hero: essentially dark knight without having to live on the edge (stay at <50% hp in order to maximize dps), more relaxing gaming play while being able to freely tank damage. shadower: decently strong 1v1 dps but pretty weak at horntail (assassinate cant hit hands majority of the time + we miss more than half our attacks at head A) aside from staying on the right side and constantly hitting four targets. (bstep + band of thieves combo). great seduce mule target (meso guard to block 1/1 + shadow shifter) but essentially overlooked by the bigger brother (night lord) d tier - probably needs a buff marksmen: great early game & bad late game, overlooked by the better brother (bow masters) f tier - lacking but good for other things archmages (i/l & f/p): pretty self explanatory, arch mages excel outside of bossing (farming/selling leech)
This is my personal tier list. S Tier Nightlords have amazing DPS and can be lazy whilst bossing. Corsairs are the most rewarding class in the entire game, if in the right hands and are alot of fun to play. Shadowers are #3 single target DPS in the game for sure, people still underestimate them unfortunately. Their multi target dps is remarkable too, and they have the highest survivability in the game. Also at static bosses such as Krexel and Zakum nobody can reach their DPS combined with meso explosion. A Tier Bowmasters have a sought after buff (SE) and are a very well designed attacker class, making them able to enjoy any content, even alone. Buccaneers are a heavy dmg dishing out class whilst providing extremely useful utility for most attacker classes. Paladins are somewhat equal in terms of DPS to bucc's and have a nice party skill for boss runs aswell. B Tier Heros are a great starting class, require little funding to even make them washable to 30k HP and have great multi target DPS Dark Knights require no funding to make them washable to 30k HP by lvl 155, are quite rewarding in terms of single and multi target DPS and let's be honest, berzerk looks badass. C Tier Well, i don't play mages as main's at all since i prefer bossing over farming. Though Mage Main's are always great to see. D Tier None F Tier Marksman should really recieve a buff so they're atleast comparable DPS wise to Paladins, Buccaneers and Bowmasters. Why make a MM if you can just make a BM
All of you hating on marksmen just need to git gud. We can pin slime whenever we feel like it, we are gods at clearing wyverns in HT, we have such engaging early gameplay and really cool skills if you don't just leech to fourth job. And, did I mention? We're not nightlords. Gross. Edit: Serious listing on everything besides MM and NL, MM would seriously go in B-Tier and NL would go in S-Tier.
You can tell I have a bias. I never liked the pirate kits, which is the only reason they're on bottom.
