run the Setup.exe program in the MapleRoyals folder and try playing with that. I know that fixes the issue for some people.

Update: i finally found what i think might be the problem. Windows doesn't recognize my 'intel HD graphics' and it appears as 'standard VGA adapter'. Therefore, i have no directx acceleration, direct3d acceleration, etc. which are vital for a game to actually run on a laptop. I tried installing the driver for intel hd graphics but i get the "this computer does not meet the minimum specs for this driver". It's a powerful laptop, kind of recent (2009) so i shouldnt have such an issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Here are my laptop's exact specs:

How did you fix it? That way if others have a problem they can follow your steps and hopefully fix it too

Windows 7, when checking for my graphics card, it would describe it as "STANDARD VGA GRAPHIC CARD" and windows would say it is up to date whenever i'd check for updates. This is what brought confusion, i thought (and most likely many people will think) they have a perfectly fine, working and fully updated graphics card.

    THE PROBLEM IS:

Windows gives you "STANDARD VGA GRAPHIC CARD" when it does not recognize your graphic card (i.e you do not have the drivers installed, or have the wr ong drivers installed).

Fix: find the right drivers for your graphic card and install them. It was very hard to find this fix since from the beginning i never suspected anything was wrong with my card (windows saying fully updated/working)
