Hello, I really want to be able to play MapleRoyals on my MacBook, but it is issued by the school, so it comes with many restrictions. I can download the Mac MapleRoyals files, but I am not able to run it because X11 is blocked on my Mac. Is there any way to get around this and still be able to play the game? Sorry I am not very good with computers so a simple solution would be preferable. This picture shows what pops up when I try to run MapleRoyals. Thank You Very Much
No, they do not allow either of those options :/ I was just wondering if there was a way to get around X11
Unfortunately, not possible without some extreme measures (recompiling a custom Wine for OS X). The Mac client is not truly a Mac client, as it uses Wine to proxy the DirectX API to something OS X understands (OpenGL). Because Wine uses X11, there is nothing you can do without X11. X11 is the window server for many *nix systems, including OS X. Because Wine is written to be cross-platform, it uses X11 instead of native libraries most OS X apps use. You can try installing Xcode, but if you're not able to use VBox/VMWare, that might not work either. Only suggesting it because Xcode is available in the AppStore, so you might be able to get around some permission restrictions.
Alright thanks a lot, I was able to get X11 installed on my Mac (asked the IT teacher). However, I was also wondering why you are able to run mapleroyals on a Mac using Wine but you are unable to run the regular Maplestory through Wine. Is there any way to get the regular Maplestory to run on a mac using wine? Thanks a lot, sorry if that is off topic.
