News Regarding Update 65​

Hi Royallers,

As the next update draws near, we thought this would be a good moment to give a status update on some of the things we have been hard at work on.


Connectivity issues

Due to the recent (and on-going) connectivity problems that a subset of players have been experiencing, particularly regarding our login server, we have been working on ways to mitigate the issue.

The solution has been to commission one additional server located in a different part of the world. This will remove the ‘single point of failure’ that we observed as the root cause for some players being unable to launch the game.


High-Resolution Client

Yes, indeed. Many of you have been wondering when, or if this would actually be released, and we are glad to finally announce that in Update 65 the new game client running in a resolution of 1024x768 will be released.

Major work has been made to improve and fix a vast slew of map and user interface issues that cropped up when increasing the resolution, and although we feel enough has been done to warrant the clients' release, there will be some minor cosmetic issues that remain which will be fixed at a later date.

Resolving these remaining issues will be an iterative process over several patches. We will release a list of what maps we know to be affected, and if you find issues that are not on the list, do please consider taking the time to create a bug report for it. This way we can resolve the issue(s) as soon as possible.

With this update and moving forward, we will only be offering a single client with a resolution of 1024x768, the current 800x600 resolution will sadly no longer be supported. The new client also comes with a change of system requirements which are as follows:

• Operating System: Windows Vista or higher
• Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015

Additional Client Improvements

Now onto something we haven’t previously discussed. During the process of preparing the High-Resolution Client for release, we identified a number of problematic bugs and issues which we felt required swift action to resolve.

To assist us in this endeavor we brought in some extra help to speed up our workflow, and make sure we were able to deliver some highly requested client improvements.

What this amounts to is the following: as of Update 65, our official position is that players will no longer need to use virtual machines such as VMware to participate in bossing content without crashing. Additionally, you will no longer be required to change graphics settings during gameplay to solve glitchy visual issues or avoid disconnections.

Through various client modifications, the major causes of experiencing graphical glitches have been addressed, and our internal testing has shown significant improvements. It is our hope that all of you will experience a similar level of performance improvement that we have.


Also a quick note about the Control Panel

The revamped, built-from-scratch Control Panel has been in the works for some time and unfortunately, unforeseen issues during development have kept delaying its release. Now, the Control Panel is essentially ready for release. However, a new (and hopefully final) issue arose during the move from our test environment to the live website, which we are currently working with our host provider to resolve.

You can still multi client / play windowed mode just like you were able to previously. We simply won't be offering various game clients in differing resolutions.
