So shortly after installing and running the client for the first time, I received this error. I tried looking on other threads on this forum, but either they didn't apply to me or their solutions were ones I couldn't seem to get to (Ex: Run in compatibility mode Windows98; I do not have Windows 98 as an option in the compatibility tab). I have not yet tried running the client without "lulwut", but I'm still looking for any answers. I also have tried using the Setup.exe in the folder but receive the message "Unable to gather up your system information. Please check if you have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed, and then try again." I am running on Windows 8.1 and have DirectX11 installed. Any ideas?
Compatibility mode in Windows XP Sp2 or similar. Try those first. @chimoki you can also run dxdiag after to see if it reports any issues.
I just tried all the compatibility modes available to me (Windows 8, 7, Vista SP2, and XP SP3) and unfortunately, none of them worked and brought up the same message as previously said. Even so, dxdiag did NOT report any issues.
I really can't help you much then but all I can say is try playing with your graphics settings. I had this error on a virtual machine and resolved it by enabling or disabling certain DirectX features such as Direct3d. So play with your graphics features, maybe even with hardware acceleration. Maybe first try your resolution settings. For example, go back into the compatibility tab and check the run in 640x840 screen resolution. If not, try setting your screen res to 1080P. Question. is this a laptop with integrated graphics or does it have its own graphics card?
To answer your question, I'm running on a desktop (an HP Envy 810 Phoenix I believe) connected a small TV monitor, which I find as a suspect for this problem. I just tried out setting my screen resolution to 1080p and it didn't work, but I am still messing around with my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745) and will update if anything happens. And as previously stated, I'm suspicious of this TV acting as my monitor.
hmm. Another person had this error because his graphics card did not have the crrect drivers. I assume your card does however and direct 2d is enabled especially since dxdiag didnt give anything.
So far, I've got nothing. Nothing seems to be working for me. I can't get a new monitor just yet, but I will when I can.
