Does anyone have some advice about how to stay far enough from a group of Monsters, or well, better ways to push them away from me? I understand that is easier at higher levels, so if someone can please explain how to use the Bowman skills which help with that, like Dragon Breath and Power Knock Back. Oh, and other question. Is there a reason why Arrow Rain can be used in close range, but Hurricane cant? To me it seems kinda strange. Thank you.
I am somewhat new to this server, hopefully I have enough experience to answer them. To me that's like one of the core weaknesses of bowman class, in exchange for long attacks and one of the best supportive skills (Sharp Eyes), they are slow, most attacks don't work if you are jumping or walking, bad at close range and have low health bar. Hence, the typical gameplay style is attack far and avoid going near. I'm still a low-level Bowmaster, so I don't any experience or put any points in using Dragon Breath. Hunter Honestly, I hardly use Power Knockback, I mostly rely on the speed boost given by my scrolled pet equipment and speed pills from Ludi, to gain distance away from monsters and spam arrow bomb to stun them and finish them off. I feel PB is terrible because is not a 100% knockback skill and at low to mid levels, it faster for me to just walk away to get a better attacking position. Ranger I never used power knockback at this range at all. Partly because of the monsters I used to train on can 2 to 3 hit KO me, like Spirit Vikings and Ghost Pirates, so I would avoid being in close distance with them at all. Arrow Rain is great middle range skill if I can find a platform to stand on without being hit, like the car in Mysterious Path 3. This is also where I try to lure and group monsters in certains using puppet, again I avoid touching them. Is very useful for Headless Horseman training. Bowmaster Same as a ranger training, now is like a habit to avoid touching monsters. Is a good skill to master especially when a great spot to train is at Papulatus, the second body is incredibly deadly, you avoid touching it at cost but it is very fast. Lucky, hurricane is a decent skill to be able to pin the second body to the side. TLDR Archers should never be in close contact and avoid being place in such a situation. No idea, is better to ask the actual game designers since the developers just port it over.
Don't forget the super useful skill that is Puppet. Aggro the monster and quickly cast Puppet and then hold down one-key (Hurricane) while re-casting Puppet when necessary. Or if you're a Sniper, freeze normal mobs and Strafe away.
Thank you for the helpful answer. I kind of understand how to use some of the skills now, and I also noticed some are useless after you are at a higher levels. But I'm not sure about the idea of just running away from monsters to find space to attack, is better than using the skills to push them away from you. The skills exist for that purpose, so they should be used in some situations, it seems. But the skill Dragon Breath especially is supposed to be the most useful, because its a 4th job skill and maybe just the distance it pushes away depends on the skill level, but I'm not sure about that, maybe its the same even at level 1. Ah yes, I almost forgot it exists. Puppet sounds useful. But it seems the Puppet dies too fast, maybe it needs to be re-casted like every few seconds. Thank you for reminding me about that skill. Just to confirm to you, I'm gonna be a Bowmaster. Not Marksman. But I understand both classes have some of their skills exactly the same, or atleast, I believe there are no differences with skills like sharp eyes, dragon breath, puppet and others with the 2 classes. I honestly never did a lot of research about this to find out these things.
It's not a big problem at high lvls because you mostly boss to level and the major bosses are mostly immobile (zak, ht, krex, toad etc) or can be pinned. If you have mobs spawn at your face you can just kill them with arrow rain quickly. Only in Shaolin pushing the clones is necessary because they got a lot of HP As for grinding, Hurricane isn't really good against a lot of targets anyway so you can just do arrow rain if you are close to stuff and then use hurricane when the mobs are far away. Arrow Rain is different from Hurricane as it's an AOE skill that attacks a whole area close to you instead of attacking in a line. It's kinda similar to 3rd job mage skills Also about Dragon Breath it's the same distance at any level, higher levels just push up to 6 mobs instead of 4 and do slightly more damage. It's not that useful cause it doesn't work at close range (same like hurricane) and you have to use PKB instead first
What level are you and what kind of monsters are you talking about? There are some places where bowmen just cant train efficiently due to the limitations of the class, specifically places like Coolies, where you get swarmed by mobs and there aren't platforms for you to attack from safely On the other hand, if youre talking about mobs like HH and BF, you can create space for yourself through luring & using puppet to draw their aggro, and maintaining that space by pinning with hurricane and using arrow rain when necessary to clear surrounding mobs. It can be difficult at first and youll likely die especially at BF but once you practice abit its not hard. Personally never used any other skills other than these, and really dont find them necessary, you just need to learn the best way to position your character
You don't really need skills to push mob in 4th job because mostly you only bossing to level and if there are any mobs near you, you can kill them easily with Phoenix/Arrow Rain or just continue with Hurricane because most of them have low hp. The only situation I can think of that really need mobs pushing skill is Shaolin boss's clones because of their high HP. (which I prefer Power Knockback more than Dragon Breath)
