How do you feel about the increase in online players because of Coronavirus?

  1. Good. An increase in online players is always a good thing and I appreciate it.

  2. Bad. I think its causing the game to be overloaded and too much traffic and competition.

  3. Neutral. I'm not very concerned or worried about it, it doesnt matter to me very much.

Hello. I'd like to apologize to Becca and the other Staff members about the previous bad thread, which was about Israeli players on MapleRoyals. I agree it was a bad idea to decide to start a thread about this subject, which is a very controversial subject and can easily lead to arguments and trouble on the forums, which obviously we dont want to see happen and we obviously want discussions to be peaceful and respectful between everyone else. I hope you accept this apology, and even if you dont accept, just know I'm sorry about it.

This time, I decided to talk to you about something much less likely to cause problems on the forums or make anyone angry or pissed off. Actually, its a subject that I think many of you would enjoy discussing.

Its basically about the increase in playing video games during Coronavirus. The increase I am talking about, is the large amount of online players which seems to grow significantly compared to early 2019 for example, long before Coronavirus started. Havent you noticed online games are getting more populated and community becomes much larger and the number of online players is growing? Its not just happening by a coincidence. its because people are at home more than they are outside these days, and for many people video games are a good way to pass the time. Especially games like Maple Story which require us to continuously play a game, and make progress with a character.

I wouldn't say the same thing about other video games, like video games which you play and complete missions or single player campaigns, and after you reach the end you have no other point to continue playing that game. You can continue playing, but you can repeat the Single player campaign or start a match against a computer controlled opponent, depends which video game it is of course but many video games are like that, especially offline ones which have no multiplayer features.

I remember I played a game called Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge, its a real time strategy. Anyone else here have played that game in the past? That game, unlike other games, is a good example of a fun and interesting strategy game which allows you to continue playing it and still enjoy it, long after you finished the single player campaign. Of course Real time strategy games in general are fun, not just that game. I also like First person shooters, but some violent ones with a lot of blood and violence and killings are making me sick and terrified for some reason, so I prefer first person games which are not shooters or shooters with less violence and blood.

But generally, online multiplayer games and MMO's are seeing a significant increase in amounts of online players and its all understandable why and how it is happening. If you have something to say about this subject, or video games you play or played and helped you pass the time, feel free to share what video games and how much online players have increased on there. I sure have noticed it on Maple Story Private Servers, especially on MapleRoyals, but also on other private servers too. Its sad some people are unemployed and playing, but I'd say its okay to do so if its only temporary and return to work later.

Personally I'm happy to see more people. It means more people are prone to do party quests

That was MY GAME back in the day! I miss it, might have to play it again soon.

But as far as online games seeing an increase of players, many people are confined to their homes much more than they used to be before this pandemic, and I think online communities provide not only a great, fun way to pass time, but also it provides a sense of connection to other people that may be lacking due to being quarantined. Having interactions with real people but in a safe manner that doesn't expose you or others to the Coronavirus. I personally think it's great for the community and I love to see it.

Welcome back to Royals! Hope you have a great day

I agree that using the Coronavirus as an excuse to never do stuff would be a problem. I work for a well-known grocery store so I'm pretty much out 5 days of the week just for work. But I don't do unnecessary things, so my time at home is increased. I'm sure most people don't avoid the outside world to do essential tasks, I'd consider that to be a minority, but I do think people avoid going out for things they don't absolutely need to do, which is smart in a time like this so we can try to let it die down a little bit. If there's no essential need to go outside, I think going outside in times like this may not pose a direct threat to you, but you could be carrying the virus and not even know, spread it to someone elderly, or with an underlying medical condition, and put them at risk. I think part of staying home when you don't NEED to go out is partly for yourself but also partly being considerate of other people's well-being. I see what you mean by it not being healthy for someone to stay inside too much, it's definitely not. But also this virus is also nothing to play with. Stay safe, man!

Isn't it interesting that so many people, which tricked an authority, want their little card of merit, isn't it? So good job, dude, you are very smart and invested a lot of time and money to be able to do it :)

edit: put this in spoiler not to trigger anyone like I get triggered all the times by humanity letting ppl die all the time by real deseases and starvation
