Hey! So, I know some of you might be against this suggestion, but I am suggesting it to be 1.5x EXP weekends, where we could get 1.5x EXP (which would then be 6x EXP, if I did my math correctly (4x x 1.5x = 6x)); as people are active at weekends and most people are free during the times. I've made an idea for the system in my mind aswell. I will make it in rough draws under, because I'm not going to put in full effort unless asked for. Example: Weekend 1: 1.5x EXP/DROP/MESO at Saturday: 1.00PM-3.00 PM | Sunday: 1.00AM-3.00AM, GMT 0 Weekend 2: 1.5x at Saturday: 3.00PM-5.00PM | Sunday: 3.00AM-5.00AM, GMT 0 Weekend 3: 1.5x at Saturday: 5.00PM-7.00PM | Sunday: 5.00AM-7.00AM, GMT 0 .. and so on. Then to continue it that way, rotating it all around nicely and, well, simple; giving everyone a chance to enjoy the 1.5x. What do yer think?
If it isn't hard to implement I'd suggest just one hour to serve as sort-of a "Power Hour" kind of event and less of just straight up buffing exp. I do like the rotation idea though.
One hour is not enough for everyone, I remember there was a v83 server who had 2x events for 4 hours, which were 1/1/1 (gi knows :3). But it won't outpower regular grinding with two hours of it, honestly. And the rotation is for the people in the Oceanic/North American timezones, for them to enjoy aswell.
Maybe as an alternative for certain areas when we run out of training areas to add into MapleRoyals and that a lot of the training spots are taken, but with Ulu and ToT just around the corner, I'm sure there will be more exciting places to train at.
This makes little to no sense unless we're targeting the EXP rates at less-frequented maps, which has been discussed before: we're not doing that. Buffing EXP rates across the board would, in fact, only widen the EXP gap between training spots (GS5 currently being -120 EXP per mob compared to GS2 would be multiplied by 1.5, making it -160 EXP). If anything, this would cause greater competition for the already heavily contested training spots.
To motivate people who grind, to give them a small boost. It is not a must, but it is a suggestion. In the length does grinding get boring, with a little bit of help it'll hopefully be funnier. Plus, this is meant to be for smaller occasions. Not permanent, all day 24/7. Simply 4 hours in total in one weekend. There are 168 hours in one week. 4 hours of them are 2.38% of a week. I don't see how it can ruin the purpose of a 4x server, at all.
Do people who are *already* motivated to grind need *even more* incentive for them to grind? Also, I think you forget that grinding is part of the experience we want to replicate. Matt has spoken about this quite a fair bit, if you go through the archives and look at threads with reference to leeching and EXP cards/coupons. Not to mention that 4x is a rate at which it is relatively easy to get to 4th job as any class, and past that mobbing classes (I'm looking at you, Bishops. ) are the only classes that benefit from actual "grinding" per se. The limited spawn of bosses for DPS classes and the monopoly that is run on them by higher-leveled individuals of certain classes (both in terms of their skillset and financial class) is extremely detrimental to the balancing of DPS vs. mobbing classes, the latter of which face fewer problems finding places to gain exp.
Exp events are okay in 1x exp servers but we already have 4x exp.. I do not see the point in this. If you are not motivated to level in the first place, why bother at all...
I guess I understand maybe doing it once a month like someone said, just as a little incentive for everyone to get online and enjoy the fun, but when it comes down to it I don't see a real point in making the exp rate higher than it is on weekends.
I think people are shutting this down a little too fast. If there is one part of Maple I didn't like, it's grinding. It is slow, boring, and overall unenjoyable. Making it a little easier for a few hours one day a week wouldn't have a negative impact on the server. More people would be tempted to play on weekends, grind, farm, and enjoy the community and server to the finest. Perhaps the negative to this would be over saturated training spots, however, an event that increases exp and drops temporarily would not do this, being that this would make farming more viable, different maps more viable, and even party quest, since they would receive the exp buff too. And if you are against 1.5X exp, then just don't play during that time. Which I don't see many of you doing. TLR It would good yes
I think this would be a good addition. If not 1.5x, at least 1.25x. Just a little boost to motivate people to grind instead of sit around in the FM.
I can see a major drawback to holding any ? x Exp events where the experience rates for the whole server are changed for a short period of time: namely, a KS-fest in popular maps. Had that in GMS, had that in EMS, had that on another MMORPG and don't particularly want it here.
Some of these response are actually kind of hilarious, "it would take away some of the challenge," because an extra 2x exp would make such a difference to higher levels right? That would give people like what? An extra .04% per kill (depending on the monsters)? Omg! That's such a travesty! That makes things SO much more easier! Puh-lese. Even with bossing that would give like what? like 5-6% extra? Wow yep, challenge gone.
